My first preference would be the Textile Souk in Bur Dubai-Karama isn't bad either but you seem to get more for your dirhams at the souq and the price range is great-bargain really hard-they expect it

I know its not Dubai based but I have just used Photobook Worldwide and they were brilliant. The program gives you so many options you can really have a lot of fun and the end product was beautiful. Plus in June they are offering 50% off which I'm sure will most prob continue for July as its summer (I bought one in May which was 40% off). I used them for my wedding album (80 pages massive book - 500 aed inc 2 day delivery to Dubai from Malaysia) and then smaller albums for both our parents and they were sent direct to Australia (40 pages - 240 aed). I bought one of those Go Nabit local Dubai photobook versions and I didn't even redeem it in the end as they expected me to come into their office in Media City with a disc and they would load the photos for me and then provide the final version a week later (what is the point I ask you??) - which sort of defeats the purpose (and fun) of making a photobook. They look good too-might give them a go for a change

Two very good friends have used Riot and they were thrilled! I think it's one of the cheapest in Dubai. But when there are loads with more creative options which are far far cheaper why use the local one? As I said Shutterfly is excellent-love all their free offers-and the turn around is quick-and they are super efficient and answering email queries too.Did your friends shop around first????

If you plan to use it a fair bit it is well worth buying one-basic models aren't dear and we certainly got loads of use out of ours when the kids were at school and afterwards

I can second Riot books! I've just done one and was really impressed by the quality and the price! One of the few things i've found in Dubai to rival prices of the UK and will certainly be using them again. In fact, i'm thinking of doing one as my wedding album because the cost of these is just silly so might do it myself using the RIOT software. Can I please ask how much did you pay/how many pages/size? thanks Wow-just checked the website Riot are so expensive compared to something like Shutterfly-fewer design options too

It's probably a way for the hospitals to make more money! I never actually got the results of my test, I emailed my Dr to enquire about it but she said that if I hadn't heard from her then there was probably no issue.... Thats what i was thinking hmmm will see if anyone else at the other hospitals are doing it the same? i didnt get no results on my last 2 pregnancies either so they say no news is good news at the American. If they are not-they are ignoring the recommendations.......

I just say "Me?! Oh, I'm a Domestic Goddess!", smile sweetly and change subject. Most people are confused and don't have a clue what I'm talking about and are too embarrassed to delve further as it sounds a bit dodgy.... :D If I get to like them I'll explain I'm really the head chef and bottle washer ;) Wouldn't work-could never pass for a Goddess-domestic or otherwise! Trust me - neither would I!! Still works, people's minds start racing with possible images, so actually, the further away from the popular image of 'goddess' the better... ;) Good point-they will be kept very busy then!

Studying would be nice but distance ed costs so much when you already have a degree-would jump at the chance if I had the money True! The classes I do have to make special trip back to the States which is costly but can't be help. For other type of "studying" I just go to Google University for free :) As an aside, if you feel like it one of these days, come over for a cuppa tea, would love to see your photo books! edited by Saharagypsyrose on 28/06/2011 I have sent most of them back 'home' but cuppas are always good regardless! I thik if I studied I would want a bit of paper at the end-guess I could almost afford it if I did it part time but I'd be 11o0 by the time I finished and the courses I fancy have field components which would have to be done back home too

I know how you feel, wuffles. I get asked that question all the time. Even my DH used to ask me that in the beginning. I felt depressed and guilty and then mad!. Just because I was not sitting at a desk with a title to my name, and no projects or whatever achievement to show, did not make me useless. It takes a lot of practice and getting used to and coming up with witty responses. I still continue to study on the side and take my continuing education classes etc so that I will be ready to get back on the band wagon when the time comes. Some people even said to me "you spent most of your life studying, and now you do nothing?" Sometimes I can't help to reply, "Of course I am! I am living large" :D Studying would be nice but distance ed costs so much when you already have a degree-would jump at the chance if I had the money

If you don't like people discussing Emirates discounts and benefits don't look at this site! http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2385542563#!/group.php?gid=2385542563&v=info It's not confidential info so why not discuss it, it's not some top secret elite club! So many on here are or ex EK so it's natural it will pop up here and there! If to want your salary/benefits to be kept private you need to work for a company a little less high profile. Well, some of it probably is confidential - most employers do require a degree of confidentiality, though I don't suppose that applies to the pilots club privileges (envious), whether or not people choose to comply with their contractual obligations. And that facebook site is just a reminder of how I *don't* want my kids to grow up! Isn't it just-some very spoilt brats on there ......

How delightful of you to comment. The original post was about DEWA bills and the jump in price from month to month. In regards to Air conditioning - it's not about how much we have it ON, but how it costs us more even if we use it less due to the way it works in relation to outside temperature. Therefore blocking heat is the best way to reduce heat and save money. I think you were still rather stating the obvious...... Are you connected with Lamings window film? it is odd to send people to a website relating to a particular (brand of a) product without even mentioning the product in the post - you are recommending window film, then? presumably shutting curtains/blinds would be a cheaper option particularly for those who are renting?? Presumably yes given the posters many past posts recommending the same company....

And I've been here for 9 years. Who is it that asks these questions?? I agree sandfly. Butternut Squash has been roasted as per instructions and come out fab, BUT the beetroot is all white inside and still rock hard! Been in oven at 180 for 2 hours wrapped in tinfoil. Is this just bad Beetroot? It's from India does that make a difference at all? Are you sure it is beetroot and not turnip-sounds wrong being white inside!
