As long as you don't travel Gold Class 14 dhs is the maximum amount your card will be charged per day-no matter how many buses and trains you take

Sounds fair-I ruin mine when I go back home and then leave the kids to deal with the severely disgruntled moggies once I am gone-luckily my Tonkinese can turn on the electric blanket with her paws-unluckily for me (who pays the power bills) the Boy Wonder often forgets to check and turn it off again <em>edited by wuffles on 15/06/2011</em>

Hi all My first post (waves helllo!)..moving to Dubai end of August, my husband is already there and I visited end of May to see schools etc Whilst there saw the Birkenstock shop (Think it was Dubai Mall but I'm still a bit lost) Tried on a pair, UK size 6, fitted lovely and so I said I'd buy them they came out with a box, I paid and we went home..I tried them on, they're too small! I went home next day, but OH took them back to the shop.. Welcome to the Dubai we know-and still love! 'oh, we gave you those because we had no size 6 left..' lol edited by LoopyLoo on 14/06/2011

I live besides Dhow palace hotel in Bur dubai and just love this place. Just across the road are the villas so there is quite alot of greenery whenever you feel like walking. As i don't have car or drive, all the major supermarkets are within walking distance along with pharmacy,repairs shops,etc. just 10 minutes walk to bur juman or the metro station, surrounded by karama,bur juman and meena bazar metro station(starting soon). bus stop just infront of the building.grocery store next door to building. apart from all of these spacious apartment and new building.and moreover its quite also. You have started a wonderful thread which helps to know about pros and cons of every place :) You're in my neck of the woods-must look out for you on my wanders-lovely part of Dubai isn't it-we are by the Palestinian Consulate

I live in the consulate area of Bur Dubai near the Creek. It is quiet-no construction noise and very little passing traffic at night. I don't need or have a car-I can walk to the metro and bus stops as well as shopping centres such as Burjuman and Karama-even Deira City Centre on a cool night! The Creek is in walking distance as are the traditional markets. I can walk down and catch the evening breezes on an abra for a dirham. Plenty of greenery and parks along the creek so you can sit and watch impromptu cricket matches and see the dhows passing by. It is close to the old Dubai areas like the Bastikiya and Meena Bazaar where you can bargain and buy fresh baked bread and other treats straight for a street oven. You actually feel like you are living in a different country.

thanks for the suggestion waxmuch... never knew that mktg was a difficult thing to foray into here. will sugest advertising to him.. guess he has to just keep his options open. it is indeed quite a rough road for beginners like him especially since he never had any work experience apart from the one year in dubai. edited by KCHRISTINE on 13/06/2011 I don't think anyone-no matter what their degree-is going to get their dream job with one year's work experience. I know my daughter and son have both done Internships during their university years to give them industry experience but even so they know-and expect to start at the bottom and work their way up into the sort of job they are aiming for.It won't depress them-it is what they expect-and need. It will give them the time to develop the networks and skills they will need to succeed

Yes it is, although I believe they only have sewing kits with very little on each roll. If you want just black, one roll, you can go to Craftland in Jumeirah Town Centre. Bit far from Qatar!!

I would take it as their demonstrating they knew my preferences as a customer-annoying perhaps-but not meant to be unkind-but maybe I have a thick skin. Our corner supermarket guy used to say "No cake today Ma'm" when I came in-even though I didn't buy cake everyday (honestly!)-he was just indicating he knew what I liked-not saying here comes that greedy woman again..that was my take on it anyway <em>edited by wuffles on 13/06/2011</em>

I live not far from silicon oasis and i know what you mean the smell of the water sometimes is really bad and brown color comes out of the water. I got the PUR BLUE hair filters and the amount of ( sorry to say this) **** that comes out of the water that all gets filtered into this hair filter and stops all the impurities. every since i bought one of them the water is amazing and i can finally stop loosing hair and its also cleared up my skin Curious-do you have something to do with distributing these-you keep bumping up old posts to recommend them?????

cupcakes and pastries of magnolia are best...their red velvet cupcake is to die for!! then in dubai mall i think its La gaustrette (sp)...delicious. coffee i like of barista only :) or coffee bean and tea leaf. I'm with you-those red velvet cupcakes can't be topped-just as well I don't live closer to Dubai Mall!

Hey cushion, don't worry, been there and got the T shirt well and truly laundered. Over the last 4 years being here, I have spilled my heart out about my desirable(!!!!) DS and if I had had the money to send him to Boarding School, I would have done. DS is now almost 19 and actually turned into quite a nice lad!!!! But the biggest shock for me was when he came to me a couple of weeks ago and said that he wanted to join the army!!!! Now, every day, he asks me if they have replied yet. Basically, I really had given up on him but he is now so committed and actually, I'm quite proud of him but then again, that's a mother speaking!!! Good luck with your DS and never give up x Agree-mine is now 22 and very user friendly-but boy did he have his moments!(there was a boarding school attached to his school but we couldn't afford it-and in spite of all didn't really want to part with him)-and Moo Moo's son is a lovely lad too <em>edited by wuffles on 10/06/2011</em>

He has VATER Association-type 4-born with no oesophagus and associated abnormalities Thanks wuffles. It seems possible at this stage that DD might either have reflux (which I very much doubt at this stage) or Eosinophilic Eosophagitis (EE) unfortunately a possibility. I don't think there are any mechanical issues involved. I've decided to push for further testing to rule both out. Best to get it ruled out-my son had oesophageal dilatations three times a week to widen his oesophagus so if you need to go down that road-and hopefully you won't-I am happy to talk with you and share experiences

Oh-I feel for you-my premmie refused to drink until he was two and a half-he had a gastostomy tube-was born with a rare syndrome so not the same case as yours-however when I had to teach him to suck and swallow he had such an aversion to anything being in his mouth due to having to be suctiooned every 10 minutes that is was a huge battle. What finally worked was getting him to drink with novelty straws as the fascination of watching the milk go up in twists and turns intrigued him! I can't pretend to say what will work with your little one but wanted to assure you it will pass and it will all be worth it.You are still nurturing your little one whether it is though an eye dropper, a bottle or a tube -my son is now 22-still sknny as a rake-but certainly able and willing to drink wharever comes his way-though he still has a ppreference for thicker drinks like mango juice. Sorry just got in-my son has VATER Association-was born with no oesophagus and the rest of the organs in the middle of his body malformed-including his spine and his heart. He was pretty much fed via gastostomy tube till two and a half-email me on glenda underscore aus at yahoo dot com if you have any questions-i know how tough it can be to get them to swallow even a drop of milk-did the eye dropper/syringe thing for years! He also had severe reflux and ended up having a fundoplication-an operation where the stomach is folded to stop the reflux

I'm with Moo Moo on this-I have fostered my share of cats through EW and elsewhere-always with the intention of fattening them up and getting them healthier and user-friendly for more permanent homes. We aren't actally even meant to have cats in our building according to our contract so it has always been a short term thing but at least it gave them a fighting chance to be rehomed. However with the best intentions it isn't always easy to find permanent homes so please support Moo Moo for making the effort. I have met the critters in question and any one of them would make a delightful pet.

I agree-if you have access to photos a photobook is the way to go-maybe in a nice large format like a 12" x12" one. I also made a photo quilt for my auntie which she just loved as she was pretty much bed ridden-so she could wrap her memories around her-and it was a great talking point with the nurses and visitors too

I had 4 removed in one go. was not knocked out, wide awake. no pain during although it is a weird sensation as they 'push' really hard on your face to get them out. had them out at about 4 pm - was in work at 9 am the next day. did not look like a hamster. no major pain to deal with (have had worse period pains). there's always someone with a horror story about this but lots of people have very simple procedures. best of luck :) Same here-had mine done wide awake-it is a weird sensation-like a cork being popped if that makes sense-but not painful like I expected. My son also had 3 taken out in the chair as he cannot tolerate a GA-one was very difficult and the dentist actually sawed through a part of his jaw but again he said the pain was bearable-personally I think you often feel worse after a GA anyway.

Hi For those who have brought your dog / cat over from the UK ......., once they arrive can they go into a kennel for a few days/ a week or do you have to collect straight away? We will more than likely arrive a few days before our furniture will arrive in Aug & that's if it all goes to a timely plan ! & so will end up in a hotel / appartment, but will be difficult to house our pet beagle - but obviously need to get him over when we leave - how's it work in Dubai..? Can you get into kennel straight from landing from the UK ( assuming have all the certificates / import licence with us that are needed) It is 1.30am here so you may not get an answer for a while!
