I cat sit assorted cats fom BH's work for free in our apartment-suits me as I get a lovely variety of moggies to spoil (BH won't ket me have my own)-I only ask that the owners drop them off and pick them up and supply litter and food as we don't have a car to collect supplies.

Yes I did ask but didn't expect all the add ons. I was expecting about 2700 but then got hit with another 250 for the consultation, 80 dhs for each x-Ray (3) and then 950 dhs for the filling. Would you not think that the filling was part of the root canal? So total bill was 4140 for what the dentist told me was the easiest and most straightforward root canal - nothing tricky about it. The dentist was already busy with the next patient by the time I got the bill. Ouch-see what you mean-maybe I was lucky mine itemised everything beforehand-and then offered a discount when I looked somewhat horrified!

Lol! I just want to know the range of prices and some justification for feeling truly ripped off. I have written to them complaining! Just wondering-didn't you get quotes beforehand? Can't answer your question but have always wondered about buying some-where do you buy them-and do you need a bank account or some proof of residence before buying? you can buy them at Dubai Islamic Bank and online, think I just showed my passport/visa, can't remember if bank account is a requirement. http://www.nationalbonds.ae/Default_en_gb.aspx Thanks for that

went to Emirates Mall 2 days back. It was crowded and many shops have many sales on different (don't really know why and not sure if it is only in EM). 75% of on Jewerly stores; 60% of on centre point stores; etc... is anyone know about the end of the sales? The sale at Centrepoint/Splash ends this weekend according to in store signs-but the shopping festival begins soon (the 22nd?) so loads more sales to come-some always jump the gun and begin early

It really is probably a camel spider. They like shade and, if they're in your shade and you move away it will seem as if they're chasing you but all they're really trying to do is to stay in your shade. Spent a couple of years in AUS as a ten year old. Lived in a new build house built on the site of an old lumber yard. Had huntsman spiders all over the house, were never bitten and they kept the other pests under control. We had funnel webs in the garden - used to pour petrol into the holes and then drop lighted matches into the holes and watch the mini eruptions - as kids we thought it was fun but evidentally parents didn't. Eventually the landlord (AUS Navy) had to agree to excavate the garden and replace soil and grass. Also had a red back which lived in the post box by the front gate. To get post we'd upturn the box on it's solitary nail fixing until the mail dropped out and then kick it around before picking it up from the ground. Then at the bottom of the garden there were loads of mature trees with trapdoor spiders. At weekends when we went up the Shoalhaven for a day, at least two of us had to water ski. We couldn't all fit in the boat with the BBQ's, eskies etc. Seeing snakes in the water was commonplace. Jervis Bay was a great place to go at weekends and we'd snorkel and see stingrays and the occasional shark. Perhaps because of all the above creepy-crawlies etc don't particularly bother me. Generally speaking they're more frightened of you than you are of them and will do everything possible to get away from you. Apart from the camel spider, of course, which will try to stay in your small patch of shade:) edited by der on 06/06/2011 Sounds all too familiar!:)

....on sauce packets (and other foods that require some kind of preparation) do they have to stick the Arabic labels directly over the English instructions??? They are impossible to remove.... If you really need the instuctions underneath run a hairdryer over the label-it will get tacky and lift-your packet will be a bit sticky but at least you can read it!

Marie, I am not only the toilet police but also the airplane police and supermarket police too. Out spread the word to all that you should always consider people waiting behind you! If you were waiting in a line for 5 minutes about to pee yourself, tell me, what would you do? Let it go and face public humiliation or ask the person in the loo if they would mind hurrying along? I dont do it all of the time but if desperate measures are required..... Seriously-if someone like you banged on the door when my son was in there he would be so humiliated he would never come out-you don't really think anyone would spend more time in a toilet cubicle than was absolutely necessary do you? (And airlines don't have disabled toilets so how do you know who is inside unless you are patrolling the doors?)

Just to add-my 22 year old leggy-not blond!-son regularly uses the disabled toillets-he has a rare syndrome-all the mid section of his digestive tract is malformed-and he was born with no oesophagus-he also often has severe pain when using the toilet-and can be in there for ever-he has lost count of the times he has been abused over it because he 'looks' normal-believe me it is tough for a cool gothish 20 something to have to use a disabled toilet-without the nasty comments and glares from those who don't know what he goes through-not saying it was the case this time-but looks can be deceptive-and I know he wouldn't take up the disabled cubicle without good reason

I'm sure if you have googled it you have eliminated the basic causes. Our cat had it round the base of her tail and it was caused because she was somewhat overweight and couldn't bend enough to groom herself properly! Once she went on a diet and lost enough weight to wash her back the problem cleared up-just a thought as it wasn't mentioned in the causes I googled.

I had a fantastic relationship with my mum-and she would have been fine in the birthing suite-however there is no way I would have wanted her there-for me it would have taken something very special away from experiencing the birth with my husband-everyone is different I know but for me I only wanted my husband there-and the necessary medical staff-even the idea of a doula wouldn't have sat right with me as I wanted to shut everyone else out except my husband

Not sure if you are on tank water but twice a year our building real estate manager sends a company to disinfect and clean the tanks-we have the water off for about 3 hours in the wee small hours while they do the underground one and another 3 while they do the rooftop one-so our water is always fine

I'm going to disagree Izzy...i have a houseload of animals and only 1 of them can and will be coming with me when the time comes. I made a commitment to that animal at the time of adoption, the others will be re homed. In actual fact, for some of them I actually make sure I have homes in the pipeline for the if and when time we go. In an ideal world, yes we take on animals for their lifetime..however some animals are rescued and homed because the alternative is death, and a 'for my time in dxb' type home is better than that. I also know that should push come to shove I will do the honourable thing though not popular thing should I not be able to re home rescue animals, and that would be euthanasia. The world is not ideal nor black and white, and what moo moo has done has been to give a life to 5 otherwise doomed creatures. Her circs have changed, as happens, and now its time to rehome the pets. It happens. Where is the like button!- :)

I hear you - i actually have a British Blue rescue kitty..... but my aunt had a rescue dog who didn't like men - and even bit the postie on the bum.... so i just think that small children and rescue dogs is not a good mix; as you dont really know how they have been treated and unlike a cat, they can cause a lot of harm to little people. To be honest, i think anyone who takes care of an animal; whether it is bought, adopted or just taken off the streets should only do so, if they are committed to taking care of that animal for the rest of its life. End of story, no matter what the circumstances - to take in 6 animals and then try and rehome them is cruel to the animals. One of the first things i did when i adopted my cat was to get her rabies tests done so that she can travel, even when i was unemplyed i ensure that her jabs didn't lapse and invalidated her passport. Before you jump on Moo Moo-read back through her posts and I think you will find she was fostering these animals till they found a home-not adopting them-they just haven't found permanent homes yet. If that's the case, why isn't the organisation which placed them with her doing the re-homing? I thought that when people fostered pets -- with a view to re-homing -- that the pets went back to K9 or FF to be re-fostered [or re-homed'>. Not an attack on anyone: just want some clarification. :) I think from memory most were taken on after pleas from others on EW to take them as a last ditch temporary solution and Moo Moo (who has a heart of gold) agreed to take them temporarily until home could be found-which sadly didn't happen. Anyway I am sure Moo Moo is well able to respond to this herself and I can't be bothered to go back through all the posts to back up my point. I am sure most of us who are animal lovers have taken in strays temporarily-ended up not being able to re-home them-and refer to them as "my' cats....even if it is a temporary foster cat you still say "my cat" or I do anyway!

I need to find homes for my 2 dogs and 4 cats. They're all rescue animals but I suddenly have to leave and really would love to find them homes. Winston - Saluki mix who was rescued after being a toy for a pet cheetah!!! Lovely natured and so friendly. Betty - Pekinese Mix. Found by a garbage can last summer. Lovely girl. Downy - Black persian (mixed) cat - loves everybody and won't fight with anybody! Derek - Beautiful Ginger Tom and keeps himself to himself Olly - Very local tabby but won't hurt a human although he may fight his corner with another cat!!!! Please help. TIA Olly is a particularly fine cat by the way! Hope they all find wonderful homes

Did we all watch? Afraid to say I started blubbing! I adored Marion too - and Claire was amazing, so was Jonathan! Can't believe they left when they did. I imagine they made enough impact to begin carving out careers in the industry should they want-Marion certainly did well out of the show-deservedly

My favourites where Marion& Alvin ..... Marion for just being an all round super character and cook! And I just cant resist ..... I just LOVE Master Chef Australia .... would never admit this at home ... but this show has even made me want to go to australia ..... Its a competition but the comradary (not sure how to spell that) etc is amazing , realty TV at its best! No back-biting nit picking or unnecessary ugliness but the show is still absoluterly loveable .... v v addictive!...and te cherry on the top ... you actually learn a thing a two about cooking from watching it! Hope you make it to Australia then! Even the final showed competition at its best without the nastiness and back-biting so common on other reality shows-can't wait for them to show Series 3 on free to air here

Well will probably hear back from the clinic by the time I drive to a pharmacy or pick up one! They have assured me they will let me know before 8:45pm tonight! Sounds like they hadn't got round to running the sample-the test should take around an hour according to he who know such things
