Over 20 years-the quilt shop in Jumeirah Plaza-the pink roofed plaza-is better than Craftland for supplies. They can give you info on the guild-I never joined as I found it too expensive. Craftland has classes too. The bookshop at Dubai Mall has some good basic quilting books to get you startted too.

Are you interested in patchwork-applique or just wholecloth quilting? There are 2 quilt shops in Dubai and a guild-unsure of costs as I quilt on my couch! Prefer the solitary life!

i watched recording of royal wedding this morning - what a lovely elegant dress, they all looked so lovely - lovely service - the royals certainly know how to do pagentry what a wonderful celebration. but what on earth were eugene and beatrice wearing - were they popping off for auditions for the ugly sisters or alice thro the looking glass, seriously ugly outfits and hats, yuk! Oddly in some close ups Eugenie's dress looks better-gorgeous colour in some pics-maybe it photographed badly.Let's hope so. I would have liked a different bridal bouquet-otherwise it was just lovely

Strange how it's fine for some to make derogatory comments about people's home countries but all **** breaks loose if someone responds Bye ladies, think I've outgrown EW ;) xx edited by JoyceB on 30/04/2011 Where are the derogatory comments JoyceB? You said you wouldn't want to visit Australia but didn't say why which perhaps put some people offside. I think everyone has given positive feedback on the way the UK handled the wedding-the only thing they said was that seeing the wedding didn't necessarily make them want them to migrate there.:) edited by wuffles on 30/04/2011

The closest I've gotten to a Brit passport is when I've picked up DH's by mistake. And that's the closest I'm going to -- or WANT to -- get. Proud to be an Aussie. :) Have no desire whatsoever to visit Australia. Would love to see New Zealand though. JoyceB-What an odd comment-both NZ and Australia are well worth a visit. Are you saying that just because some Australian posters said that watching a well-run and undoubtedly tradition packed wedding didn't make them want to rush and apply to become British citizens? The Danish wedding was also quite spectacular and involved an Aussie bride but I can't recall hankering to become a Danish citizen then either! I, like many Aussies, love visiting your neck of the woods and I am sure many in the UK feel the same about Australia. Neither is better-just different. Let's get back to enjoying discussing all the exitement of the day rather than nit-picking-unless it is about THAT hat! :)

They have also been given the Scottish titles of Earl and Countess of Strathearn and Baron/Baroness Carrickfergus (County Antrim) edited by JoyceB on 29/04/2011 Isn't County Antrim in Northern Ireland? How come these are Scottish titles? The latter is an Irish title-I assume JoyceB meant the first of the 2 titles was Scottish

I wish I could have brought my cat, my favourite books and a big pile of my craft magazines-magazines cost way too much here. Can't think of anything we could have left behind as the company gave us a massive (NOT) luggage allowance of 20 kgs each!!!!

If he is moving for the long term you could order a Ken Duncan print for him on-line. If unframed they come rolled in strong tubes and he could take it with him as a memory of Australia. They aslo deliver framed ones free world-wide but that is for the more expensive limited editions http://www.kenduncan.com/ edited by wuffles on 30/04/2011

Simply wonderful all round! Thought Harry, kate and William were going to fall around in fits of the giggles at one moment. For everyone who continually moans about the UK today showed why the UK is the envy of the world and such a great great country. No one can do it like the British! No complaints about the handling of the wedding but not altogether sure the UK is the envy of the world-quite happy to be an Aussie-and I am sure many envy the lifestyle there too!!!! UK envy of the world? lol They all want the passport though Actually-no! Hmmm... Well given the numbers from the UK applying for residence in Aus I don't think the traffic is all one way!

Kate looked divine, and so many other fabulous outfits plus one or two dodgy ones (not mentining the sister's names), but the show stopper for me was Pippa's dress - just stunning! I WANT a dress like Pippa's. At all cost. That was just so amazing. I agree-Pippa's was the show-stopper-and if I were 30 years younger and had a figure like hers i would want one too!

I have to agree with Manufan, I thought Diana would turn in her grave with Camila on that balcony with her SON and now daughter in law.. She is awful, i thought she was going to do a micheal jackson with one of her grandchildren over the balcony until charles told her to put her down,, Did anyone see that? Also i seemed to have missed one of the kisses, i only saw one and they said there were 2 ! There were 2 kisses -but photographed from the same angle so looked the same-if that makes sense

So, when William becomes Prince of Wales, will Catherine become Princess of Wales? And will she be titled Queen when he's King? Or are there no set rules? I get confused between the Duke of Edinburgh (not King?) and Queen Consort, Queen Mother etc. etc. Might have to go and google... They'va apparently changed the rule to allow the first-born, regardless of gender to inherit the throne. Up until now it's bee first-born son or if there are no sons, they then work their way through the daughters... rather old-fashioned, so time to be changed. Not yet they haven't. It was mooted several weeks ago -- Nick Clegg started the ball rolling -- but it's not happened yet. Moreover, Clegg [and anors'> also wanted to change the rule about heirs not being allowed to marry Catholics but the Church of England, a few days ago, stamped on that idea quick smart. She will be Her Royal Highness Princess William of Wales rather then just Princess of Wales.....

It is not too bad to clean. My biggest gripe is that it takes a while to cool down and it is easy to forget and put things on the top. I would worry if I had children or a cat as it is not obviously hot-does that make sense?

Just got onto my brother-finally-apparently he found out she had been in touch with his daughters and read her the riot act-threatened her with the Police and restraining orders etc-so evidently she left the melodramatic farewells on Facebook as her way of ending communication with the rest of his family. I am not sure I will ever know whether she intentionally gave the impression she was suicidal-though I suspect it gave her a certain satisfaction. I just hope my brother spoke to his daughters before they received her messages. Anyway all is as well as it can be-thanks everyone for their concern. I have emaled the Police to explain-as best I could-that she has not done anything life threatening. I still suspect she is rather unbalanced given the way she has acted.

Wuffles, will the police let you know the outcome, or would that be considered to be breaking the confidentiality of this lady? I suspect if you get no feedback at all that this is going to play on your mind for a long time. I am sure they will-but I will keep ringing my brother till I get an answer-hopefully she was just being melodramatic but I need to be sure-and no-her child isn't my brother's!

Seriously? you say that she dated your brother 4 years ago and that she has contacted HIS family members (that she has never met) for HELP? Perhpas she is trying to manipulate your brother into talking to her? Perhaps it's absoloutely nothing more than emotional black mail..... Seriously, who would contact an ex's sister if they were seriuosly going to commit suicide? Someone desperate for help. She sounded like someone who wished things had been different and was looking back to happier times-or perhaps tying up loose ends? My brother rarely answers emails or even his mobile so she may have been hoping it was a way to get to him-I just don't know

My son-in-law and daughter were the same-heaps of tears. He had no idea of the dress and she had specially chosen one with bands of Swarovski crystals as the first thing he had given her was a Swarovski necklace.
