No-but some one from Emirates literally threw a stroller on my husbnd's lute and broke its neck- it was clearly marked fragile and theoretically stowed with other fragile items-and he couldn't get compensation even though they saw it happen......so good luck-hopefully BA is better than Emirates at recompensing you

Wouldn't your next step be to discuss this with the accounts department at the hospital? I know when our son was in NICU in Australia for around a year and many more months on the ward the first thing we did-once we had a second to ourselves-was to go downstairs and find out where we stood with regards to cost.I have a photo of our baby son with a 5 metre long computer generated bill!!! Came in handy when he was a ratty teenager to remind him how much he was worth to us! Wishimg you strength to face the months ahead-it isn't easy but every small step forwards is wonderful to see.

pay the extra and stay at a Disney hotel, you get extra benefits. like earlier entry and just walk to the park and then back for a break and the go again after the LO have had a rest. If you buy a multi day pass you get free entry on one day anyway and can come and go as you like

We stayed at Candy Cane Inn last year and loved it. It is quiet-close to the park-but they also run a free shuttle bus. It is a smaller family run hotel with a nice atmosphere-they had free videos for the kids to watch and on arrival a big basket with home baked cookies, candy canes etc. The clincher for us though was that they provide free breakfast as part of the room rate. If you have a premium room breakfast is delivered to your room-otherwise you have it poolside. The bonus of having it in your room is you get enough left-overs for lunch!!! Check out the reviews on trip advisor.You can see the fireworks from the park from your balcony at night too. Try and get a back room away from the road. Internet was also free by the way. We were there 5 days by the way-without kids-but found plenty to do-make sure you visit the Cheesecake Factory there. The children will like Downtown Disney with the Lego Store and Bear factory too. Dal Fry, I chew enough anything that enters my mouth until it is pureed and then I swallow it. If I am chewing it and couldnt make it pureed in my mouth, (sorry) but I spit it out - I dont swallow it. I am going to search on the internet for some home made soup, the kind of pureed soups.. I like mushroom soup, cream of chicken, potato and leak soup but I always run to toilet when in the middle of having the soup :( My stomach is very sensitive.. zzrogedzz, I will email you, thank you :) Those soups may be a little rich-stay away from the creamy ones-clear broth and pureed veggies-not potatoes which are high in carbs-would be a better option Also it is better to puree than to chew-as I said my son has half a stomach and he can only eat pureed foods-chewing just doesn't get the food as fine <em>edited by wuffles on 27/03/2011</em>

I had no scans for my two-and in my case I am rather glad I didn't as the second one was boen with a rare syndrome and I would have spent the whole time worrying-sometimes ignorance is bliss!!! Aslo if I had had frequent scans I would have worried that they just might have caused the deformity-so I guess you just can't win sometimes

Mmmmm-maybe I am odd but I would almost rather have no card from my children rather than receiving a computer generated one-there is something about a hand-written and even hand made card tht simply can't be beaten. I guess these sites have a purpose if you have totally forgotten to post your card in time-but that in itself is a bit sad isn't it............ edited by wuffles on 25/03/2011 I find the computer generated cards can be really personal! Just because its done on a computer doesn't mean the thought is any less. Whats the difference in going into a shop and buying a card thats made for hundreds of thousands of people and writing a note in it than someone thinking of you, going online, spending time browsing through which one they think would suit you, putting in a photograph they think you would enjoy and then writing a nice note inside? I love moonpig, and I think its really lovely to get them as well! I don't like e-cards though, as I really like getting the actual card in the post rather than just in the email. edited by AdviceSeeker on 26/03/2011 I know-I said I was odd! I am happy enough to make a card on my computer-download photos etc-but I like to make it here-sign it myself and put on the local stamps to make it more special-I do agree working out the timing is problematic so I email and say it is on its way!

Have you thought about trying some home-made soup-that might fill you up without the irritation. Oh -and if you can't resist chocolate I would nibble one little piece each night rather than a full bar once a week-a dietician once told me that after the first mouthful of a food we crave we actually eat less-it is just that first mouthful that makes us happy! So a spoonful of your favourite pudding once a day is way better then binging once a week=and you won't feel you are missing out so much! (My son has less than half a stomach-a birth defect-and he finds that works for him)

How about growing them from seed? I think Ace has seeds-or did! brilliant idea, but I once tried it with tomatos...no luck :-( Herbs are way less temperamental than tomotoes though!

This might sound odd Forever 21-and it is just my take on things but as a few have said parents would appreciate you having been through what they were going through I will add my two cents. Our son was in Intensive Care for his first two years of life and I actually found it harder to be with staff who would relate they had been through similar things. When you are the parent you don't always have the strength to listen to what other staff have been through-in some odd way you want to see medical staff as invincible and having all the answers (even though deep down they don't). I think you get fairly selfish and are so focused on your little one that stories of what staff have been through just give you more to worry about as you don't want to upset them.You need their strength. Sorry -I have probably explained myself badly and your expereinces may make you stronger and better at what you do-your posts have certainly shown an amazing inner strength-but I just don't think some parents would be ready to know what you had to share as some posters seem to suggest. Wishing you well-whatever you decide.

Ha funny how the ones defending dubai and their amazing lives are the ones with the highest posts. Cant be that fun here if all you do is post on EW all day every day. Wouldn't say that-I have cakes in the oven, am cutting out a quilt between posts and organizing a photobook of my daughter's wedding so happily multi-tasking. Later tonight I will beoff walking down the creek. Maybe we have more posts because we have been here longer! I also have a very ill son who never sleeps more than 2 hours a night so I have learnt to do without sleep and have more waking time than others! Not sure if my life is amazing but I am happy!

I beg to differ.... Dear Dubai.......we are in it for the long haul From the first light of morning the call to prayer fills me with serenity and hope. I expected a sand pit-I live surrounded by wide swathes of green lawns and palms hung heavily with dates-and even the odd beds of petunias! I even enjoy knowing what the weather will be each day-hot or hotter-and appreciate all the more the air conditionned bus stops and buildings I feared I would be cooped up in a compound-I live freely surrounded by people from many nations. I feared isolation as we don't have a car. Instead I discovered cheap taxis, a smooth and inexpensive metro and efficient bus system. I feared lonliness. I can linger at a coffee morning for hours meeting people from all nations and walks of life that I would never have had the chance to meet back home and learn about their cultures. I expected a community of career-focused individuals-I go to the mals and see extended families out together enjoying each other's company with the older children holding their siblings hands. I selfishly thought I might miss the comforts and foods that mean home but found malls and supermarkets full of foods and goods I had never seen or tasted. At night I can walk unafraid and alone along the creek watching and enjoying impromptu cricket matches, bargain in the market, smell the spices and return home happily nibbling Indian snacks and bread straight from the street ovens as the call to prayer once again echoes across the creek. Everytime I hear the Dubai Fountains playing 'Time to Say Goodbye" I shiver -hoping t isn't my time to say goodbye to Dubai.

Sending you prayers that all goes well for little Malak-my littlest one (now 22) spent 2 years in hospital ahving numerous operations and I know how tough it is sitting in the waiting room for hours on end during surgery-I think we parents suffer more than our children at these times-I bever ceased to be amazed at how well my son coped

No longer in my 40s but have to say it was a total non event-no signs or symptoms-didn't even realise it had happened-my mum was the same Damn you ;) Sorry!:) That is why I am a little worried as my mum suffered quite bad :( No Mum only noticed as she used to buy pads as part of her monthly shopping and one day went to put the latest packet away in the top of her wardrobe and a whole heap of unopened packets came tumbilng down on her head!!!

Great with a buggy! I did Dubai Mall the other day and tbh, the feeder bus is fabulous. It's right outside the Metro station and takes about 3 minutes to drop you off at the mall. MotE is by far the easiest. But going back from Dubai Mall on the feeder bus is a pain as it does the scenic route!!!! sure, it's longer, but not hugely... and you're in a bus, not walking through an assault course! I'll have to venture to BurJuman actually... if it's that accessible there's hope! Burjuman is straight up the escalator and across the footpath-way easier and closer to the exit than Dubai Mall edited by wuffles on 21/03/2011 wuffles you dont have to cross the road at all, whichever platform you descend from, just take the right exit out of the station and you could either wind up outside Max (with Ravi restaurant opposite) or if you take the other exit you'd be right outside the mall. No-I know!!! I said walk across the path-not road........We live nearby!

Ok, so today is the last straw with my maid.....so far she has broken my rice cooker, my pancake factory and the the glass stove top is full of chips, which she blames my DD for..BUT today I get the Le Crueset out and the enamel is chipped to the @@@@ house! Now, I'm a patient woman but I'm so sick and tired of the "Oh sooo sorry Madam!!!" I'm thinking of taking some money out of her pay just to let her know that I'm not super rich and buy quality items which are very dear to me. How on earth did she manage to chip a Le Creuset pan, they are invincible. Not if you drop them on a tile floor. :\: Poor tiles-my daughter gave my Le Creuset pans to the Op Shop while I was over here and bought me new 'pretty' ones as she thought the Le Creuset were old and heavy-sigh! She meant well!

As an aside-it seems to niggle you that you never had a chance to do your degree-don't forget in the future you can always do it-one subject a year if necessary to spread costs-maybe by correspondance as you are working hard-don't give up on your own dreams
