Brownies are great! I am not sure about here but I did them as a wee girl and loved it! I went on to be a girl guide too! I learned to knit, sew, did a lot of camping - it was awesome! <em>edited by xmasbaby on 16/08/2011</em>

I have a gorgeous dress I bough here from Premaman. Its pewter with sheer shoulders and really pretty. It was over 2000 AED. If you want to see it, let me know and I'll email you photos. Happy to sell it to you at a reduced rate. I never wore it b/c I wasn't big enough by the time the wedding came about. xmasbaby05 at gmail dot com

It can be done at the consulate. You will need to provide proof of citizenship of you or your spouse, entitling your child for the same. Assuming the child was born here, you'll need to first apply for citizenship under the new rules (which will be automatic assuming either parent is Canadian) and then apply for their passport. The consulate will however, issue a temporary passport if they have no alternative travel document.

Struggling with this dilemna too so would be keen to hear from others. Kellsbells those are totally legitimate concerns and ones that also cross my mind. I am going around in circles with the dilemma to have a 3rd child?? I just turned 40, have two kids 6 and 3. The last few years have been very tough as I run my own business and was literally burnt out. So I personally worry that I won't be able to cope. At the same time, I would hate not to fulfill my dream of having at least 3 kids because I was 'too busy', I could very well regret it in the future. I know if I have a 3rd child, I would have to let the business go a little, but at least this time, I do have a maid with me, whereas as last time I was completely on my own. DH would love to have a 3rd, and gets on my back when I start lending/selling baby stuff. My clock is ticking...FAST, and I need to make a call. Can't bring myself to say no, but can't bring myself to say yes either. DH is not pushing me, but I know he would love another. I feel like I need to make a call one one or the other very soon, because if I do, then I need to start now due to my age.... I am interested to hearing some other opinions...I know this is personal but are there Mum's who didn't have a 3rd and wished they did? Or the reverse, had the 3rd and just wished you didn't? Or had the 3rd and are just loving it? I know the logistics of a 3rd child change a lot (bedrooms, cars, hotels etc...) Advice???

I agree see a doctor. The same thing happened to me and it was as simple as dust getting into it. I had to start putting the circulation on in the car and that made a huge difference. I find if i'm dehydrated the same thing occurs. Good luck!

We eat a lot of mince meet and I've found the best from Spinny's. I don't know if it makes good samosas but certainly great for sheppards pie and similar. It also doesn't have the smell that some other mince does. We've bought lamb, chicken and beef.

agreed, we've had this problem in the past and national pest control solved it. In fact the 3rd time, we noticed that the problem still existed and they came back out 1 month later for free to spray again. Highly recommend them and have dogs and small children as well.

I agree - also former republican! They've stretched it out to create hype, meanwhile how many times did was it done by Bush or even Reagan for that matter I'd say it is a worry. It is so unfair of the Republicans to hold Obama by the **lls when he has been doing nothing but patching a sinking ship inherited from Bush since he took office. They just want this to roll over into an election year to hold it against him during campaigning. ( I used to be a Republican by the way. ) They refuse to give Obama a break at any turn no matter what he does and will stoop to the lowest level to make sure he does not get reelected. So sad. (Sorry, all my opinions.) I agree!

Yep, my bff had it and it errupted in various places b/c the cyst errupts via a tunnel or something - front back - where ever it can and she's not hairy at all! In fact, she doesn't even wax her legs but it has something to do with the origin of the root - I wish I knew more but she suffered for years and finally she got it sorted about a year ago and it never returned. Sometimes it was so painful she could barely walk. but it's showing in different places around my buttom cheeks (...) and even ''front' area :( .. it can't be just one hair... what kind of specialist should I see.. i'm following up mainly with a surgeon, and now and then when it doesn't require an operation i see the dermathologist .. they suggested a certain ointment to apply at night 'in my nose and back ''exit''' as it's an easy entrance for this undetected germ... +and i'm not even that hairy to start with edited by sababy on 31/07/2011

Sababy, it really sounds like a polynydal cyst and if it is, antibiotics and draining won't help. They literally have to dig out the root of the hair and its quite deep...it then takes about 1-2 months recovery time - packing daily and having the area redone. I suggest you look it up on the internet and go to a doctor specialising in this.

You may have a polynydal cist - Thats the common place for them and the only way to remove it is to have the area sorted.

I agree with you that in theory but we live in a live in a Muslim country and during Ramadan people tend to be more sensitive about particular things. Whats the harm in being a bit more respectful even if we dont "get" it? Disagree, I definitely think people dress more conservatively during ramadan and suggest that you [b'>wear sleaves to your elbows at least [/b'>and skirts/capris below the knee. I've seen people in the DIFC (which is mostly expats) confronted by security during Ramadan due to complaints about attire (skirts being too short, sleaveless etc). Sure, some people continue to dress the same but why offend others during this holy month for something so trivial as covering up a bit more. I fail to see how covering my arms from shoulder to elbow makes one bit of difference from one month to the next. If that length of flesh is that naughty, then the rules should apply year-round not just for one month of the year. Besides, my bingo wings are unlikely to incite s£xual thoughts in [i'>anyone[/i'> to be frank. PS. Don't worry, I'll be dressing modestly -- I do all the time -- but I find some of the endless arguments around Ramadan dress code pretty ludicrous. You're never going to force tourists on 'summer special' holidays to adopt The Code and no one -- in hotels at least -- is going to make them do it anyway. ;) WM you fail to see because you don't want to see. Ramadan is a time when non muslims should be more respectful and that includes dress, and that is how it is logic, no logic, that is the way. <em>edited by xmasbaby on 27/07/2011</em>

To be honest, not sure if you need it attested if under your dh's sponsorship but I would probably get it done just in case. It'll be a bigger hassle once you get out here. When I did it 4 years ago, it took about a month. First it goes to Ottawa, then they forward it to the UAE (the first time it was lost so thank goodness I sent a true copy) and then back to you. I would definitely not leave it to the last minute. woops saw your last question - this was what I had received from the UAE consular: Dear madam, You have to send your original CANADIAN document Or notorized copies to: Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade(DFAIT) in Ottawa &gt;125 Sussex Drive &gt;Ottawa, ON &gt;K1A 0G2 &gt;Attention: Legalization Section &gt;Tel: 613-995-0119 &gt;Fee = Free of charge Then you have to forward it to our Embassy in Ottawa, or you can instruct the DFAIT to forward it to us: UAE Embassy 45 O'Connor st. Suite 1800 Ottawa, ON K1P 1A4 Attention: Legalization Section Tel: 613-565-7272 ext 224 Fee = CAD 50.00/copy (money order or certified cheque made out to UAE EMBASSY, with a prepaid return envelope) The processing time is 2-4 business days. I'm even confused! Sorry. I was told that instead of buying a large piano that there are miniature piano's to buy that are substantially smaller but have the same keyboard as a large piano per se or that there are keyboards that wont take up a lot of room. When I checked the shops, I could only find electric piano's rather than a regular classical sounding piano.

Toronto's winter weather will seem like summer compared to Winnipegs' cold! lol My cousins in peg always laugh at us when we are freazing as their nearly doubly cold. Anyways, some other interesting things to do in Toronto in December: Casa Loma - usually has Santa breakfast and other xmas festivities starting end of November Pioneer village - sleigh ride, ginger bread decorating and santa breakfast Disney on Ice - is pretty much there every year and is fantastic! Farms in Orangeville - tons and lots of cool xmas trees decorated with carolers etc. If you go to Niagara Falls, there the Wolf Lodge there now (indoor water park) thats year round. My kids still also get a kick out of the butterfly conservatory and the bird kingdom. Have fun! I love Toronto in December!

apparently if you believe in numerology "seven" is the perfect number being "complete" or something along those lines. It probably ties in with the notion that now that they have their little girl, she completes their family.

Have to agree and I have lived in the Ranches, and Motor City and this is by far the most convenient in terms of traffic and proximity to American Hospital, Dubai Mall etc The traffic can be a disaster on Emirates road ( a lot of trucks ) . edited by salome on 08/07/2011 Traffic ...wat traffic? I live in The Villa its the best place for no traffic.. No one is quing up to get out onto the main rd like i did at the ranches and the springs, when i lived there. I've lived here for 1 year and have encounted no traffic or accidents on the emirates rd, and im on it twice a day. Also its more central to get to places from here...quicker to get to Dubai mall/festival city and mirdiff cc then the ranches and the springs. Also 15 min to American hospital straight down the Al Ain rd.

30 days and it you want it shorter, sounds like you will need to pay them for the time you are not working (deducted from final settlement) or likewise, if they ask you to leave earlier than the 30 days.

School starts 6 September 2011 according to the mini booklet that I have. The calendar posted online was for 2010/2011. edited by xanzec on 13/06/2011 You r correct - its 6 September but the calendar that I describe below (the link directly above "Term Dates") titled Academic Calendar 2011-2012 is definitely for next year. I just read it wrong :(
