Thank you for the reply. Today I took a drive to JP, and it has grown so much. We drove by last year to drop off some friends and it still looked empty and many houses for rent/sale. It was totally different. I wonder why the developers didn't include pools.

Hi ladies. After 6 years of living here, we have finally decided to buy a home. I'm debating between these two communities. We have lived in Marina for the last 6 years and love the atmosphere and the busy lifestyle here, but we can't afford to buy a 4bdrm in a building and even if we can, I believe it would be very hard to sell or rent in case we need to get up and leave. So that's why we are looking at villas. Arabian Ranches seem too far away for our comfort zone, but we love the community and the houses. Jumeirah Park homes are easier to access from SHR, but they just seem to be less of a community feel at this point. Any thoughts? Suggestions? Any particular areas in these communities that are better. Thanks for your input.

Last summer we stayed in San Fransisco then drove to LA, spent 5 days, then drove back to LA. In SF there is plenty to do with the kids. They will love it! Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge and the the Exploratorium, were the highlights for our kids. We drove down to LA through Highway 1. We stopped for three nights, each in a different town. Carmel- Carmel Valley Ranch San Luis Obispo- Apple Farms Inn Santa Barbara - Cheshire Cat Inn We stayed at one of the W hotels -not W Hollywood. It was a perfect location to drive around to different destinations. We did Universal Studios, and I would advise to pay for the fast track tickets as you end up saving so much time and actually enjoying the park as well. The best part is the shopping in the outlets!:biggrin::biggrin:

Le Gateaux in Dubai Marina does a really yummy chocolate cake. They have great customer service and not outrageous prices. The parking is tricky, but they do deliver.

I really have noticed improvements with the Hydrofacial at Cosmesurge. It's not a relaxing facial. The idea is to get one every 1-2 months. The more often you get them, the better the results.

What are the most beautiful Christmas markets in Europe? I'm planning a 5-6 day trip during Christmas time and would really enjoy visiting a European city with a Christmas spirit feel for the children to enjoy as well.

We live in JBR and definitely felt it! I was in front of the mirror and suddenly started swaying side to side. I thought it was my blood pressure! Then I looked out the window and everything seemed very normal outside. A couple of minutes later, my hubby phoned to tell me.

Sisters Lounge in MOE does a fantastic job. Tell them to use the sensitive wax used for the face. It costs more, but well worth it!

The water keeps on going deeper into the hotel's lawn. I can see it from our apartment. It looks like the royal meridien will get some flooding as well!

I am at happy parent at Star. Class sizes are 20 with a TA. It does have a small community feel to it where the children can thrive and shine at what they're best at. All the teachers my children have had have been very good and very approachable. The athletics department is excellent. Any other questions?

We did it two years ago with three little ones and it went well. Just make sure to have a DVD player. The hardest part are the border crossings as they can take a long time. It was around six + hours of driving minus the rest stops.

Maybe you should try living somewhere else more quiet, not in the marina, and especially JBR. I live here and have little ones, and we enjoy the vibrant atmosphere.

There is a new grocery market that just opened in Murjan. It's Daily Gourmet. The produce, seafood, bakery and meat looked very good, there is also a salad bar and a small coffee area. It does look like it's more pricey than al maya, but it's worth a visit.

We went on a cruise from Venice last year and we had a great time. I must say that departing from Venice can be a bit tricky, but once you make it to the boat, it's great. Venice itself is amazing, although it can be extremely busy and hot in August. We had young children with us, and it was not easy to navigate through the tiny passages full of tourists, but they sure remember it well. We spent most of the 8 hours walking around, and looking at the architecture. If you have any questions, let me know. Also, Dubrovunick is wow!!!! A taxi that we got from the port (better deal as we are 5) took us to the old town and we walked around for three hours, then the same taxi met us just outside the old town and took us to a beach where he picked us up after 2 hours too as it was very virgin and nothing else to do. The people are very nice, although we did have a bit of communication problem.

I have one child in year 3 currently, and we have been very happy with the school. His class size is about 13-14 kids and there are two yr3s. With Star you know, that your child will be nourished and motivated, challenged positively, have intimate class sizes, have great teachers that really care, and that he/she will be able to explore different sports as well as dance (there are a couple big dance productions) with the amazing PE staff, and have an excellent overall school environment. There are lots of different workshops the kids get to choose from, and then there is a big range of after school activities, both paid and non-paid. Also, the teachers are 100% approachable.

We have lived here for almost three years and although there are things I don't love about JBR, the pros outweigh the cons. Our apartment is huge, the rooms fit all our furniture from the states, and the view to the marina is beautiful. The fitness studios in our cluster have really great teachers, and it only takes me a two minute walk to get to them. If I don't feel like doing a class, I can either walk on the Walk or walk on the beach or even cross over the bridge and run in the marina. I can even walk to play tennis at one of the hotels at an extra cost obviously. I have more than I need coffee shops to choose from, al maya at an 8 min walk, and hair, nail salons everywhere. For my older kids they can bicycle or play football on the plaza level and my toddler can run around with no worries about cars. Yes, the plaza level is getting more and more run down and the reception area and elevators are the opposite of luxurious. We also walk to marina mall to the movies on the weekends. The traffic on the weekend is mostly avoidable because when we go out, it's just starting and by the time we come back, it's finished. The only thing that is very fustrating for us, is the car exhaust noises in the middle of the night, but any big city has these noises. Regarding the insects that many people claim to have in other apartments, my mother stayed with us for one month and was amazed that not once did she see one crawler. And since we are in the middle floors, we get no smell from restaurants.

What about Qsar al Sarab in the Liwa desert by Abu Dhabi. I know they have specials now, as we are planning ourselves to go for a couple of days there. They have a stay three, pay for 2 deal. It's supposed to be amazing!

I had guests last year and they tried Jumeirah Hotel, Al Kasr, Royal Mirage and even Bab al Shams. They said they liked them all, but their favorite was Royal Mirage. We had to book before though. We arrived early to have a lovely breakfast outside, then I left them, and they spent the whole day there.

the junsui restaurant at Burj al Arab has a really good breakfast buffet. They also serve asian food in the morning at it's delicious. I have gone there a couple of times just to have the dumplings and the soups.

I second Estes park in the rockies. The kids will absolutely never forget this vacation. The cabins are very rustic, with the basics, but they are clean and very spacious. Then the kids can either go to day camps, or they can be with you hiking, swimming, fishing, horse riding, hay rides that take you through the mountains and you have roasted marshmallows at the top, and luckily you will get to see elks all around. there is Estes lake very close by, which also has a lot of activities. It's beautiful. There was not one complaint we had, although we only were available to stay two nights, because booking is done quite in advance. months, I believe.

I found them one time about a year ago in Choitram on Al Wasl and only got a pack, thinking I would come back later. As soon as I got home, my little one put them all over the floor! I was always on the search for them as my other older two, grew up on them. Good luck!
