Any suggestions as to where I can get a silver ring enlarged? TIA Any of the stores at the Gold & Diamond park should be able to do this. I once had a ring enlarged at Damas in MOE.

Assuming you hold a passport from a country that is issued visa on arrival you can stay for 30 days on a visit visa and like others have said do a visa run if necessary. Schools here will finish for the summer holidays at the end of June so not sure how much response you will get from them during July and August. I would suggest applying on line now to get some feedback and possible interviewees lined up, although you would imagine places for the new school year starting in September would already be taken in most cases? Also consider a single flight works out more expensive so why not book return with the possibility of changing the return the date?

You mean the ones the size of cricket balls? I don't know if you can dine in but we've had them delivered from 7 Spice London in Media City. Their food's not cheap but it's the closest thing to a Brindian I can find. I loved Brick Lane in Barsha but we now live too far out for them to deliver. Their bhajis were a bit pants to be honest anyway. The ones from the cafe on Staniforth Road in Sheffield are the Best!! ;) Masterchef? Never been but my dad says they're gorgeous! We used to get our curry fix from a lovely takeaway in Kimberworth (yep, we moved across to Toytown ;)) Lots of dishes for around £10. Now we have to spend the best part of 120dhs. It's really annoying how British style curry houses here rip you off. I know authentic Indian restaurants are a lot cheaper but they're not the same when you're craving a tikka masala  Yes Masterchef is the one, the best onion bhaji's in Sheffield, also do amazing sandwiches. Always on the to do list when back home :) Have you tried Akbars on Meadowbank Road, very good curries and naan bread as big as bed sheets!!

London has so many great dining choices it's hard to give one or two suggestions plus if you are staying in a hotel maybe worth checking the dining options in that area first? Also what type of food are you looking for ?

A thread like this starts..... It doesn't matter if you love or hate summer, have a choice of staying or leaving, we all manage our lives to suit our families. I do think the summer is fast approaching so I will make the most of the outdoor time while I can!

We are moving to Dubai this summer and had a look around different areas last week. I really like Arabian Ranches and found 2 nurseries I like out there but I will be looking for work in TV and that will probably be in Media City. Can someone advice me on driving time from the Ranches to Media City please? When I was out there people said it would be about 1/2 hour but my friend here who used to live the said 1 1/2 and that traffic is awful... Please help! TIA It depends what time of the the day you are travelling but even at peak times it should not take 1.1/2 hours. Hessa Street can be a nightmare in the evenings but there are a few alternative routes now. I would say 30 minutes is more realistic.

Are they still charging for removal, if you have gelish put back on? I know it's usual to charge if you take it off, then have a standard manicure. But to charge for removal, when you're having it reapplied is a bit much. Yes the salon I use have now applied this charge even if you are having gel put back on which is why I think its too expensive. I don't mind paying if I am not having the same re-applied.

I wonder if this is going to become a common practice in most salons as I was also surprised a few weeks ago when my regular salon announced the same? It is much cheaper to buy the gel removal solution and do it yourself but that's not always possible for me and I consider having my nails done a treat so don't want to do half of it myself at home.

Latitude at JBH do one but much more expensive than the ones mentioned. The surf and turf night at Ibn Battuta hotel is good and reasonably priced.

Going against the grain, you really do get some great deals in all hotels over the Summer. The pools are icy cold and it's just perfect to sit in them with a nice cool drink. If they are not planning on doing a lot of city tours and are quite happy just sitting in the pool or doing some indoor things in malls, there are some great deals on everything. The hotels are generally quieter too, so less frenzied than at other times of the year, deals on spa treatments etc. :) I agree some great deals to be had in the summer months. It really depends what they want from a holiday. If they intend to stay in a hotel with nice pool and beach facilities and use them most days then even with the high temperatures it is manageable. Obviously they will not be able to walk around or eat outside when its that hot but there are still plenty of indoor activities. If the cost is a major factor then they will need to compromise somewhere as the prices from October to May are much higher.

Hi Ladies, my brother s coming over from the UK and is on a hunt for an engagement ring for his hopefully soon to be fiance!! :) We dont want to go to your usual jewellers and would like to design his own. Do you have any suggestions please. Many thanks How long is he staying in Dubai? He will need to allow sufficient time for the designing and making of the ring. Once the design and materials are confirmed it should only take a few days but it would be good if he has already got some sketches / photos of what he is looking for. I had all of our wedding jewellery made and could not fault the quality of any of it. I worked with Julie at Jewels who was brilliant at sourcing diamonds and gems to meet my design requirements and worked to the budget I set. http://jewelsgdpdubai.com/

Links restaurant at the Montgomerie Academy is family friendly (vouchers in the blue book). If you have the app downloaded they also added Monty's restaurant at the hotel which is also casual dining with a good menu. Ranches restaurant also included and have lots of british items on the menu.

Well that is just wonderful for the non refundable hotel room that I have booked!!! If you explain, I'm sure they'll understand. Lots of people will be in the same boat, so hotels will have to be flexible. Agreed! Why should hotels be flexible?? The core characteristic of non refundable is non flexible! Especially as lots of people will be in the same boat, it will be even more difficult. Most hotels will have other bookings for the 26th. Nonetheless you can try, but don't take it out on the hotel if they refuse to be flexible. I never said anywhere that I would take it out on the hotel. I do have a back up plan for the night of the concert so do not need to transfer the nights stay. I do believe the proposed change I have put to the hotel works very much in their favour but I am yet to hear back from them. I know you didn't, apologies if suggesting otherwise. My post was directed to the other posters suggesting the hotel should understand your predicament and should have to be flexible. It would be nice if they were, but they certainly don't have to. I will understand if they say they cannot change the booking. I did book it in good faith that we would not need to cancel or amend the booking but I've lived here long enough to know better so take full responsibility!! I do hope they allow me to change the stay to later in the year as I have also offered to book an additional night, plus they will receive additional revenue from food and beverage but ultimately the management will have the final say.

Refunds are being offered if the change of date doesn't suit anyone. Did ticketmaster tell you this or did you read it somewhere? Think I might have to refund mine if it's possible. This was announced on the radio yesterday and I also received an email from ticketmaster yesterday confirming the same.

Shaun is no longer doing the oven cleaning - I messaged him and said he's closed the business :( So still on the lookout if anyone knows anyone else. I've booked this company to steam clean our cooker and bbq but they are not coming until the weekend. I can report back next week if you like. http://www.mangroveservices.net/ edited by Yorky on 25/03/2015

I've also tried searching but not many have been advertised or as you say they are on Friday. The ones I have found so far are Ibn Battuta Gate (advertised on here, see whats on at Easter tab on the right hand side). The Irish Village also have activities on for kids and Latitude at JBH are having an Easter Sunday brunch.

I have to agree that the automatic pink slip doesn't happen. My DH has been involved in two seperate accidents with locals, both were not his fault. One admitted liability the other argued with the police but on both occasions my DH received the green ticket. I hope you manage to get this resolved soon and put it behind you.

Its not too bad getting to Bateaux Dubai on a Friday or Saturday evening. There are also a few reasonable priced boat trips from the Marina. Captain Jacks is 1 hour and costs 60 dhs per adult.

We have been to the Maldives a few times and never felt any of the islands were over run with children so I wouldn't let that put you off too much. We prefer all inclusive but always stayed on an island that needs a short sea plane transfer so can't help with the ones with boat transfer. I would try and narrow down your search by finding out which operate only boat transfers first. Also if you are planning to go over the Easter holidays I would book soon as its one of the most popular times to visit.

The 2 bed villas in The Springs are quite small, not sure if it would work for a family of 5? We looked at them years ago and prefered the space of an apartment and we dont have children to consider. The maids room in the Springs should be inside but you dont get much more than a small single bed in one and they are downstairs. Try also looking at apartments in The Greens.

Not many hotels in Dubai offer all inclusive so you might be limited with choices. The best is Jebel Ali Hotel / Palm Tree Court. There are a couple who offer AI at JBR, Movenpick and Hilton. If you are willing to travel a little further to RAK there is the Hilton Resort and Spa or the Rixos. Is Rixo good? is doesnt seem too expensive? Sorry I haven't stayed at the Rixos. It got very mixed reviews when it first opened but over the past few months I believe its got much better. We have booked in the summer for a weekend so hoping its good :)

lmao :-) thankyou Buddha and AnonDubai.....seems some people may be getting payoffs to put people off moving here!!!!!! after ALOT of online research.....salary pages.....real estates.....schools.....supermarkets and even google maps I was starting to wonder if I had my head up my behind the whole time as I just couldn't work out why with our potential salary package that we would need@least 35k unless we were planning on bathing in liquid gold and and ripping up the roads in our gas guzzlers to bring little ones to the most overpriced school we could find the schools we have been looking into International school Meadows and Dubai British school are way within our budget and the areas The Springs and The Meadows also fall into our housing allowance my partner will be based in Jabel ali industrial park so I think the commute is ok too :-) Unless you have already agreed to top up the housing allowance the Meadows certainly does not fall into the budget quoted. You could get a villa in The Springs but for a three bed you would probably need to add some to the allowance also. It is a good area to be looking at regarding your husbands work location.

When selecting where you are going to live you need to consider the travel time too and from work for your husband and also for you getting the kids to school. I am asuming you will be driving here? You would need to budget for 2 cars. There are some good extras included in the package that many companies are trying to avoid. Depending on the monthly salary it could work but you may need to top up some things like housing. I would also try and get 25 days holiday (depending on company policy) as the working hours can be long and holidays are essential for recharging the batteries!
