CROCS warehouse sale. Does anyone have directions how to get there? The map on their Facebook page is so small, by the time you blow the pic up, the map is so fuzzy you can't read it.

Utterly appalling treatment of child. But she's female, no rights, no protection it appears. I hope she'll be able to get over this.

I get loads of my clothes from a UK shop called Yours. You can buy online and I use my Aramex shop and ship account for them to send to me. However, they do send internationally to UAE as far as I know. http://www.yoursclothing.co.uk/

I think I may have some. I sold my Zapp, but I'm sure the lady didn't take the adaptors as she didn't need them. I'll have a look tonight and report back.

We're in DG and have been for the last 3 years. Where we are is very quiet and very family orientated. We have both a 4 and 2 year old. DG is a huge development and some buildings are used for employers to place their staff and there has been complaints about it. We're in building 120, and none of the building surrounding us are nothing but families and couples. There is a lovely square at the front of each building away from traffic so children can play without you worrying and some buildings, such as ours have a children's play area. The swimming pools aren't open yet, but looking like they maybe soon judging by the amount of activity around them. As for commuting easy without a car, unless you live very close to the big pink buildings where all the supermarkets etc.. are, you're not in walking distance of any shops. However, there is a shuttle bus service (operates approx. every 10 mins) that does a lope from DG to Ibn Battuta and the Metro, which is great. Taxis are very easy to hail down too. No nurseries in DG that I'm aware of, but my two go to Jebel Ali Village Nursery in JBR (Bahar 1), they also have nurseries in Jebel Ali Village and the Meadows, but JBR in my opinion is the best one of the three. No direct public transport links to here, so would need a car or taxi to get here. Although very quick from DG to JBR now the new junction is open. We like it here. We have a nice large apartment and able to pay in 12 cheques which helps. Some people will say to avoid DG, but in the area where we are it is very nice.

Fun Square in Time Square has a large soft play area for little ones and free if under 1 year old. It is separate to to the soft climbing area, so not too many running toddlers!

Probably kept in storage for months before coming out on the shelves. I've notice this with lots of products here. Can't imagine they'd deliberately have shorter shelf life considering how bad the situation is here with selling spoilt food.

Best one is the Party Store in Garhoud by the Wellcare Hospital. Had both my kids birthdays this month and they were the best. Did look at the one in Motorcity, not much for kids if you're looking for a particular theme, such as Disney etc... (or I went when they had low stock). However, I do remember them having some stuff for first birthdays.

Just need to contact your insurers. You'll need to give them the form so they authorise the repair and claim back from the other persons insurance as it was their fault.

Have been pulling my 4 and 2 year olds apart all morning as they've been squabbling. It does drive you nuts. DD (4) is at the age when she is very bossy of her little brother and tries to tell him off if he does something he shouldn't, which winds him up. He now is lashing out in retaliation which always ends in tears on both sides and sometime me through frustration. They do play nicely together say 50-60% of the time. I think it's their age. DS is now coming into his own personality and I think DD is finding that difficult as she's been used a baby and now there's this little boy saying 'no' and trying to pull her hair when she gets cross with him. I suppose it's typical sibling rivalry. There is almost 6 years between my brother and I and we were just the same! Love each other to bits now.

Very windy out there. My washing was dry within 15 minutes!! However, the sandstorm is only likely to reach Abu Dhabi, so think we're OK here in Dubai. Make sure all you ladies going to the World Cup have your hats on securely and watch the hems of your dresses (don't want a Marilyn Monroe moment in from of Sheikh Mo;-).

It's strange that the supermarket pot herbs (well have only purchased the basil) do not last. Have tried bottled water, tap water, keeping in the fridge, keeping out of the fridge, keeping in a cool room on the side of the house and they always die in a day or two. Must be a conspiracy from the supermarkets so we have to keep buying ;) Zannie, did you buy any tomatoes from this place? If so, how much per KG were they? edited by Pomegranate on 25/03/2011 Beef Tomato (indoor) kg 12 Cherry Tomato Red pack 8 Cherry Tomato Mix pack 8 Cherry Tomato Black pack 8 Cherry Tomato Yellow pack 8 Cherry Tomato White pack 8 Cherry Tomato Plum pack 8 Cherry Tomato Truss pack 10 Plum Tomato Big Red kg 25 Plum Tomato Big Yellow kg 25 I have not bought from them, they only deliver to the JLT area, but here's the price for the tomatoes I don't live in JLT, you can collect your order from Tamweel Tower lobby (cluster U) between 12 - 3pm on Monday's. Just make sure Nada has your order before 4pm each Saturday. Beats walking around a supermarket getting all your fresh stuff! edited by Zannie on 25/03/2011 edited by Zannie on 25/03/2011

Contact Nada at Mazaraa Organic: mazaraa.organic@gmail.com She arranges weekly delivery of organic produce, including lots of herbs inc. Basil (only 2.50AED for a decent bunch). The herbs are freshly picked from a local organic farm in Abu Dhabi and she arranges delivery of orders to JLT for collection on a Monday afternoon. She'll send you a price list and order form. Extremely reasonable and the produce is wonderful. I ordered several bunches of herb which I've put in a jug of water in the fridge and they're still fresh (since Monday). Just an alternative if you decide not to grow your own. I've always had terrible trouble keeping my shop bought pots alive. Especially Basil as it looks half dead by the next day no matter what I do to it. So given up and now buy weekly through Nada, easier and the quality of the herbs so much better.

Thanks very much Claire, will check out DBS, Safa and Horizon. Did look at Wellington, v. nice, but very expensive compared to the other schools for FS2. Still def keep them in mind. Guessing all these schools are popular, so will have very long waiting lists for this age group. We could try and put DD's name down for all these, but the cost (non-refundable) deposits just to be considered to be put on a waiting list is shocking!

Thanks girls. Our first choice is JAPS, however, their waiting list is so long, really need to think of a back-up plan. We left it very late really and never expected to be here when DD started school. Kicking myself now. As you say, she is still very young (just turned 4), so a couple of years at this school won't be too bad, better than nothing.

Know how you feel. Frequently have days similar to yours. Just keep telling myself to "Roll with it" and try not to get too stressed out over every little thing, especially the mess. Found taking the wee ones out to play areas in the afternoon tires them out. Fun Square at Time Square holds a free coffee/cake afternoon on a Monday. It's from 3pm until 5pm. 25AED per child for 2 hrs play and free coffee/cake for Mum's. It's great and gives me some time whilst the kids go mad and I don't have to worry about the mess!

I went for the 1st time this morning and they have now installed a gate, so the play area does not open straight out onto the street anymore. This was one of the reasons I'd not been. I found it very nice, however, a few things they need to change, such as putting crisps/sweets at child height by the reception desk. Obviously expecting children to help themselves and expect the parent will pay. Yeah right! Also toilets/changing areas up a step staircase, which isn't good when carrying baby/toddler (should have them downstairs). Apart from that, nice place and will take my kids back there.

Received my order from Mazaraa (see below). Wow! fantastic produce and so cheap. Highly recommend them. The fresh whole chickens are so good. They are on the small size, but extremely tasty (ids had one for dinner) and for only 25AED!!! Also the eggs, delicious! My car smelt wonderful, filled with the smell of fresh strawberries and herbs. If anyone remembers the smell you'd get when entering the Nazwa Farm shop in Umm Sequim, you'll know what I mean. The lady who runs it is hoping to open a shop here, but in the meantime, orders are collected from JLT (Tamweel Tower, very easy to find and parking easy). Big thanks to Nody for the contact! XX Won't be buying fresh produce from the Organic Store again!

Drive past junction 2 (Safa Pk junction) and get over to the far right lane. You'll see the English College schools on your right, then a petrol station. Take the slip road here, and straight ahead at the mini roundabout. MB, has the rest of the directions below.

Why can't you take the ticket to Emirates Airlines Head Office by the airport or in the Dnata building on SZR? They should be able to give you a certain amount of credit back on this flight (similar thing happened to us and we were able to). I'm 99.9% sure you cannot change the name on an existing airline ticket. The only airline you can do this with is Ryanair, and they charge a massive surcharge (£250 per name change) to do this. So if there is a very slim chance Emirates will do this, it will be at a big cost. Anyway, the fact that this poster is new and selling a ticket in this manner seems very dodgy or desperation.

I've tried that thank-you! A harness for toddlers, fine (I use one for my DS who is 2), but not so easy on a 4 year old. I don't care about whether it's fashionable or not. Just because I chose not to use one for my 4 year old, doesn't mean I'm not in control. Yes she has wandered off if something (usually the sweetie aisle) distracts her, but believe me she is learning!

I can totally sympathise with her. My 4 year old daughter will frequently run off in a store when I'm doing a big shop and have my younger DS in the trolley. I want to go today, but the thought of taken them really feels me with dread. I may wait until tomorrow morning and just take DS with me when the other is at nursery.

Found this map on a previous thread: http://www.pedexrealestate.com/Images/Jumeirah-Lake-Towers.gif Tamweel Tower is no. 63. You'll have to take the JLT exit off SZR (Junction 5) and follow the signs for JLT. To get to this tower, you have to do a long loop and come back on yourself as all a one way system.

Contacted Mararaa last night and they sent me an order form straight away. Very reasonable and very easy order form. Fruit/veg/herbs are either by the Kilo, bunch or pack. It totals everything up for you. They only deliver to JLT, but you don't need to be a resident there. They can meet you in the lobby of Tamweel Tower (cluster U) at an arranged time for you to collect your goods.

This may have already been mentioned (not read every thread), but you can marry in the church in Jebel Ali if you've previously been divorced. Friends of mine got married there. He's been divorced once and his wife had been divorced twice before. So as long as you can prove the divorce is finalised, then no worries getting married here in the JA church. They did it very quick, if this helps!

To the OP, is this a permanent move to the UK? If it is I personally wouldn't. No matter how much you say you trust her, she'll be gone as soon as she gets her foot on UK soil. The temptation to find a better and more well paid job will be too much. Plus she may well have family there. I don't know the rules for immigration into the UK, but I would imagine the UK authorities will frown on this and will ask why you cannot use a British citizen to do the job (with the relevant protection for you and your children which the UK authorities require i.e. police checks etc...). Also she'll be expected to pay tax, National Insurance and you'll as her employer will have to prove she is paying it. Also she'll be eligible for statutory holiday, sickness and if required maternity pay.

Magrudy's also closed at Dubai Mall. Blaming high rents... I'm not convinced that's the reason myself. Books are so expensive here, massive mark-up. I never buy books here, get them online or when I'm home. so much cheaper.

They can fix most dents, but not all. They'll ask you when you speak to them to describe the dent and the location. I was reversing out of a parking space a while back and unknown to me the lady in the car next to be had opened her back door (she knew I was reversing, but that's another story!!), which I hit and left a small dent. Called the guys and they were over within the hour and had it fixed and looking like new within half hour. Can recommend these guys highly enough. Hope they can help.

Give the guys at Prodent a call. Speak to Martyn or Robbie: 0502402899 or 0506593368. They are a British business and all the guys that work from them are from the UK. They work with some of the big dealers here and well as doing private jobs They are a mobile dent removal company and will come out to you an will fix the dent there and then. They are very reasonable and will be able to assess if they can fix the dent before going ahead with the job. They operate in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. We've used them several time for bumps and scraps on our car and always done a fantastic job. Let them know Suzanne recommended them if you speak to them. They don't need police report.

Don't bother with a Slingbox, we bought ourselves a Mac Mini and connected that to our TV. As long as you've got a VPN, you can access all the iplayers and watch the live streaming from all the UK channels through their websites. Kids are able to watch CBeebies etc.... Plus we have the option to download programmes directly to our MAC to watch at our leisure. Much less complicated and cheaper than a Slingbox.

my wee one starts school in September. I don't have a maid but I need to go back to work full time. My main concern is what to do with her during the long school holidays. I know there are some camps but most of them seem to be only until 1-2pm in the afternoon. So I was just wondering and looking for thoughts or ideas what other working mums do. TIA Lynn, where are you based? I have a daughter the same age (almost 4), so maybe able to help if you're local. I'm in Discovery Gardens.
