At 20-years-old Sara Iftekhar has made by headlines by becoming the first Miss England finalist to wear a hijab. Sara is a Muslim student who studies law, and is of Pakistani decent. She is also the winner of Miss Huddersfield 2018.
Sara has always had a passion for makeup, and also works as a makeup artist, yet the hijab-wearing beauty contestant never expected to make history –describing herself as a normal girl who chooses to dress modestly.
The student told the BBC: "If I want to cover myself up and dress modestly why should that be an issue? I am just like the other contestants. If I am sending out that message it will motivate other people to participate in a beauty contest."

The Miss England Finalist has previously adorned her hijab in a patriotically decorated tiara, and often wears traditional Pakistani dress.
She competed with 49 other hopefuls at Kelham Hall in Newark, Nottinghamshire for the Miss England title. Despite not being crowned as the winner, the Muslim student has still made a huge achievement –for herself, and the beauty world.

Sara Iftekhar also set up a fundraising page for the charity Beauty with a Purpose, who help underprivileged children across the world, stating –“I participated in Miss 2018 in order to show that beauty doesn't have a definition. Everyone is beautiful in their own ways, regardless of their weight, race, colour or shape."
