Forget the fashion for a minute, as NYFW Fall 2018 has given us some major beauty trends to follow throughout the year. From Alexander Wang’s banana clip to Anna Sui’s retro purple eyeshadow looks, the new autumn/winter collections have been enhanced with beauty throwbacks we can’t wait to try off the runway.

This year’s fall New York Fashion Week has highlighted new beauty essentials like a matte jewel-toned lipstick thanks to Bottega Veneta, an intense highlighter as modelled by the Hadid sisters and the return of a '90s hair clip we're pretty sure we still own. We were in awe of Jeromy Scott’s futuristic pastel coloured wigs and crazy makeup, but the stand-out beauty trend we have to take from this NYFW is the multitude of eyeshadow looks!

From bold blues to deep purples, hot pinks, and neon a sunshine shade, we definitely need to invest in a few new eyeshadow palettes after these shows! As Kaia Gerber modelled the ultimate smoky eye for the Tom Ford show and then the perfect retro mauve for Anna Sui, we were inspired to round-up the best of beauty looks from New York Fashion Week.

So here are 8 beauty trends to take from NYFW Fall 2018

#1 A Bolt of Blue

Saudi-born and Dubai-based sisters Simi and Haze Khadra were front row for Alexander Wang with their mirroring standout turquoise shaded eyes. Veronica Beard’s show also displayed '80s-inspired electric blue cat eyes, as did Adam Selman’s collection and Carolina Herrera’s final show featured deeper shades of blue, as this tone and crayon look is definitely one to watch.

#2 Throwback Hair Accessories

Stamped with the Alexander Wang name, the fashion world has gone a little bit crazy over the return of this retro hair clip. Known as the banana clip, this hair accessory is an easy way to style an up-do and was the perfect addition to Alexander Wang’s powerful corporate chic collection. Love it or hate it, the banana clip is definitely back!

#3 Gothic Smokey Eyes

Both Tom Ford and Eugenia Kim sent models down the runway with dramatic dark shaded eyes, which brought back gothic grunge instantly. Walking for Tom Ford Kaia Gerber’s black eyeshadow was haloed and smudged, as her hair was scraped back a leather headband, another beauty throwback accessory.

#4 Dramatic Glow

We've been obsessed with highlighting for a while now, but how can you not be when you see the cheekbones of the Hadid sisters light up like this?! During Anna Sui’s show Gigi and Bella Hadid’s graphic stripes of purple and fuchsia on their eyes was majorly enhanced by their defined glow. Which created a must have look for spring/summer.

#5 Jewel Toned Lips

From Bottega Veneta’s debut NYFW show we took jewel-toned matte lip looks, as scarlet, ruby and rich berry reds inspired our romantic makeup looks. This beauty trend is classic to take with you as deep red shades never go out of fashion and enrich most beauty looks.

#6 Space Babe

Jeremey Scott transported us to a world of pastel coloured bobs with blunt bangs and negative space cat eyes, as Gigi Hadid and Co. lit up the runway with their futuristic styled looks that we were surprisingly into. Tipped as a hair trend for 2018, the bob with blunt bangs is about to get big!

#7 Retro Mauve

Anna Sui inspired so many beauty looks during her show at the fall 2018 NYFW, which showcased '60s makeup that Twiggy would approve of. This retro mauve shade modelled by once again, Kaia Gerber, reflected the popular trending purple tones we can’t get enough of, as we loved this vibrant look.

#8 Sunshine Palette

Noon by Noor enhanced their collection which featured specks of gold with sunshine-inspired eyeshadow. The vibrant neon yellow created a refreshing spring makeup look that was bold and beautiful. We might see more of this unusual tone come summer.
