I also it took it for prenatal with my two children as I tend to have a Folic deficiency. I took it on top of my prenatal vitamin as per my doctors orders. Maybe check with your doctor if the local one would be ok or you could order Elevit online?? Also give Lifecare pharmacy on Al Wasl Rd a call they are usually very helpful and tend to have a large range in stock.

Yes I have used her for both my pregnancies, she is very nice and the nurses at the clinic are also lovely. The first time back in 2009 when she was at Infinity Clinic and just this June at Top Medical Centre. You can use the valet parking at the hotel and they bring your car back to the clinic door which is nice in this heat!

I dont think they test at this age as reactions are rather common and most tend to just go away with time. My daughter is four now but out of seven of my antenatal group three of the babies had a problem with fruits/diary. They switched to alternatives milks/fruits and generally grew out of it by one and a half or two. My daughter had stomach issues with the milk and others had reactions like your 8 month old. Sometimes the reaction from one thing can actually set off a reaction to something else they eat and if you eliminate the one that is actually causing the problem the other will be fine. I think it is a matter of finding out exactly what is causing the reaction and then just eliminating it for a few months. Dr Loubser at Infinity is very good so maybe you do a phone call appointment if you dont have any luck with the doctors in Doha?? I am not sure if he does those types of appointments but worth a try to give them a call and ask? You could just get some general information re allergies from him. Good luck and dont worry it is very common at this age!

I get most of my recipes online now. My daughter has been GF/DF for almost two years and I also eat a low gluten/dairy diet myself. You will find that most cookbooks have ingredients that you cant buy here, so i just gave up on them. If you are newly diagnosed you may find other things you cannot eat either so you have to adjust or drop recipes so I have found just googling wheat free dairy free brings up a whole lot of great info. There are so many great blogs out there these days. Good luck!

We use manuka honey in our house. My daughter just had a chest infection and it seemed to help a lot. Off the spoon or in a tea with lemon is also nice. Hope you feel better soon.

I second Cocoon also! My daughter is in FS1 there at the moment. I was unsure because it was a long drive for us but it has been a great move. She is doing so well, I cant believe how much she is learning. I cannot fault the teachers and the admin, plus the communication from the school is great.

I am from Christchurch, I havent lived there for over 10 years but all my family still live there. I go back every year for a holiday and have been back since the big earthquake. It was a shock to see the city I hardly recognise parts of it, the CBD is almost all gone, but they have some great plans to rebuild and it is going to be an amazing place to live in 10 years time once everything is finished. They really need new people to come in and help rebuild. And although people left after the quake everyone is really excited about all the new people coming in from all over the world to help with construction. Its a beautiful city, very laid back and friendly but a little to quiet for me! You can email me if you would like anymore info p a r k e r at yahoo dot com

I have a stomach ulcer and have had good success with using a couple of things along with with my doctor prescription. I am trying everything because the medicine alone was not working! Apple Cider Vinegar (with Mother) & baking soda. I drink it with water after a meal but it does taste bad - brought it from Spinneys. Probiotic with glutamine - I brought from Organic Supermarket Aloe Vera juice - again from Spinneys Manuka Honey (UMF 15 plus) I also use coconut oil (from Organic Supermarket) to cook with. I found it made me really ill if I just ate it off the spoon. My stomach felt much better after a few days taking the above, I know the apple vinegar really helped me a lot.

Sorry was supposed to say I have place at JAPS for next year 2013! Hugsys - yes she is at nursery. She started last September when she was 2 yrs 4 months, just three days a week. She will be starting in FS1 in nursery this September and going five days, which she will love, she gets bored on her off days now! I was really happy to keep her in nursery for another year. Pav as Blondie says just get the applications in asap, a month or two can make a difference between getting an assessment or not!

I had exactly the same experience as you. I starting looking for nurseries and then heard from people that I should have had my daughters name down at schools from the day she was born! I only registered her when she was almost two years old but we ended up with a few options so I shouldnt have stressed so much! She is going in FS1 this September. We registered for Horizon, Safa, Star International and Jebel Ali (they told me there was not much chance but I paid the fee anyway). We we ended up with places at Safa and Star and the most amazing news was we got an assesment a few months back and got a place at Jebel Ali for 2014! Anything is possible people leave and there also has to be a good boy/girl ratio in the classes. Choose a few schools and get him down before the summer break. Good luck

No way it needs to be cut dont worry! My DD had the same problem, we discovered it when she was around 9 months. If it is not bothering her then you can leave it, but there is a possibility of bladder infections developing. I left it for a while and then it closed even more so around 18 months we used some estrogen cream for two weeks and it opened on its own. Dr Loubser (Infinity) & Dr Rita (Health Bay) both recommended the estrogen cream to me. You cannot buy it in the UAE so you will have to source from overseas. It can close up again so you may have to repeat the cream but it will sort it self out in time. My DD hasnt had a problem with it since we used the cream, she is three now.

Miss mowgli - we bake the bread in the oven, I found it didnt work well in my breadmaker. It needs to be mixed for 5 mins really well otherwise it will come out horribly. We now have a kenwood mixer for the job and it comes out perfect. GF baking needs to be followed to the letter or you can have some terrible results! The book I mentioned earlier was written by a family with three boys and it is designed to get the kids involved in the cooking to get them more interested in the food. There is even a little cartoon type story at the beginning written by the oldest boy. Not all of the recipies can be used but it has some great ideas for snacks, lunches, dinners and desert that the whole family can eat. And yes our gastro pedi also said take the allergy test results with a grain of salt and then test them ourselves via elimination to see if they are correct. My DD will be getting tested soon now she has turned three. From what I have read the giardia will badly affect a childs system and hopefully he will grow out of it with time. Probiotics should help with this, the Organic Supermarket has a good supply of kids ones. I am sure the nutritionist will suggest this also. Good luck with everything

I can highly recommend Dr Wassem at Northwest Clinic on Al Wasl Rd. I had been looking for someone to help with my 3 year olds stomach issues. He sat with us for an hour and went through from what she was like as a baby to the problems she has today, because of this we seem to be getting somewhere finally! Being told she will "grow out of it" by other doctors wasnt cutting it anymore!! He is a specialist Gastro Pedi. Thanks to the ladies on EW who recommended him! http://www.northwestclinic.org/ Dr Rolef also good I have seen her myself for a stomach problem.

Sorry to hear that. My three year old has been off dairy since she was one and gluten since she was two. It just take a little extra planning and a bit of research! I have spent a lot of time on google, there are some great blogs around from mums that have GF/DF kids. Eating out is the biggest issue, everything has gluten in it and you cant really trust the staff at most places. The sausages and lunch meat from organic have no gluten, they are great for easy dinner or for school lunches. Best GF bread I have found is from Oz - The Real bread mix. They sell in Le Marche & Milk and Honey. The Organic also sells Bobs Red Mill and Organ (?) bread mix which is ok. Just brought this book, it has some good ideas for food. http://paleoparents.com/2011/eat-like-a-dinosaur-our-gluten-free-book-for-kids/ These muffins are really nice (GF/DF/egg free - you can buy all ingredients from Organic supermarket) http://goop.com/newsletter/49/en Good luck with everything, it just take a little while to get your menus sorted. How old is your son? I think the younger they are the easier it is to change their way of thinking. My daughter sees pizza and says yuck!

Yes it is, they also have a shop in The Greens if that is closer for you. My 3 year old loves the chicken lunch meat and the saugages but they dont do sliced meat like you get in the supermarket (ie chicken breast). Occasionally they have smoked turkey breast which is nice.

The Organic supermarket does not put any nitrates in their meat, so far they are the only one I know of. Not sure of any other brands, all of the ones I looked at in the supermarket had them. Its scary when you start looking at whats is in our food! I am trying to get less processed food into our diet, my daughter is gluten and dairy free so I have been going down this road for a few years.

In my experience prams always get damaged if not in a travel bag! I have a bugaboo and I would pack it up in the travel bag and check it in, then use the emirates pram here and for the transfer i just used a ergo baby carrier. When my daughter turned one i also got a second hand Maclaren for travelling which has been great. If it was just a holiday I would use this as I found the bugaboo was just too big for getting around sights and hotels etc. I have a huge plastic pram bag for the Maclaren and so far it hasnt been damaged (fingers crossed!). Found having two prams great and will use them for the next child so its a good long term investment.

It used to drive me mad also but I think its normal. My daughter is almost three now and she went through a faze on non stop running nose around that age. Our doctor said its nomal to have up to 6 colds per year at that age. We didnt have that many but its helps their immune system in the long run. My daughter started nursery last Sept and I was dreading it but it hasnt been so bad, a few colds and a virus so far. I keep her on a multi-vitamin and have been giving her Manuka honey with UMF this winter.

She has had some Pediped and is now onto her third pair of Salt Water Sandals! Cannot speak highly enough of the Salt water sandals, they are great, fit all feet sizes because of the buckles and they are washable. Just had a friend bring her fourth pair in the next size up from the US!!

Organic Supermarket is a good start, they have some lovely dairy free chocolate. They also have alternative cheeses, spreads etc. All the standard supermarket stock dairy free items also, its just a matter of hunting around and finding things! Spinneys have dairy free spread called Nuttlex (??) plus Lulu, Choithams and Le Marche in AR stock lots of alternative products. Also be careful with breads some have milk powder in them! My daughter is dairy and gluten free so I am getting good a reading labels!. Products come and go in supermarkets so if you find something you like buy a couple at once!

Thanks ladies. Yes there maybe there are some other allergy issues but not sure because it is not obvious. She is fine with fish, i suspect a soya issue so she doesnt have any of that and she is already off wheat. Hopefully now she is old enough to get tested, the doctor did seem to think it was worth it at her age, but now she is almost three I would like to get it sorted.

Also what it did with my daughter is took her to the nursery toilet and just "showed" her around and told her that she must ask the assistant to take her to the toilet if she needs to go.

My daughter who is around the same age has just started toilet training also. After five days at home I sent her along to nursery with pants on as she had only had one accident in the previous two days. They mentioned to my husband about pull-ups when he dropped her off but he said (as we had discussed) we only want her in pants from now on and they were ok with it. The first two days the assistant took her to the toilet every half an hour and she had no accidents. It only took two mornings at school and then she got the hang of asking and she hasnt had an accident since (fingers crossed!). Its a bit of a pain for them to do this but since they take children who are right at that toilet training age they should be good at dealing with it. A bit of wee on the floor wont kill anyone and they should have a better policy than just putting them in pull-ups! Just ask them if they can shadow her for a few days, it sounds like she is going really well and just needs to be comfortable asking someone at school to take her. Good luck!

There are lots of "non-spill" water bottles out there and I have tried many! Although a bit pricy I found this one from Just Kidding great and my daughter loved it and used it for a long time. It doesnt spill, they have to suck to get the water out and its such a great shape they love holding it. http://www.justkidding-me.com/en/eshop/product,fluid.html

That sounds about right! I just got new tyres on my car and apparently some people sell the tyres but dont have the alignment machine. I was ringing up and couldnt understand why the prices were 150-200 different per tyre and as my husband patiently explained I will have to pay extra if I take the tyre from cheaper shop without the alignment included. So if you buy tyres you basically need to ask if they do alignment otherwise its a bit of a pain!

Firstly can I just say there is light at the end of the tunnel! I know it feels like it will never end when you have a reflux baby but it does get better. My daughter ended up on Losec but that was after trying a few other meds first, your doctor will help you sort it out. Sometimes the medication takes a while to work or you need to try different combinations of things. Just keep going back to your doctor until you get it right. My daughter also had a problem with dairy so you may want to discuss that with your doctor, it common for reflux babies to have dairy issues also.
