Off topic sorry OP, but has there already been a switch in Headmasters at Foremarke? From... to ? I thought it was a Mr P but see now it is Mr A who used to be the Head of Primary at R... Yes, something that had to do with KHDA wanting headmaster that had experience in new schools, but Mr P is deputy headmaster, so they both run the show. So far, we are quite happy with the school. edited by Proudmama012 on 26/09/2013

I am very interested in such a group. I am one of those women actually:)) I have a master's degree but very little experience, and find it very difficult to approach the market here:(( and on top of that I have two young children, and I find that the market here is very difficult for women like me.

Both my children are at Children's Oasis and we love it. We have been there for a few years already, and I believe your daughter will be in safe hands. They are very qualified and loving bunch! I experienced some separation anxiety with one of my DDs and at a certain point in time, I also was not sure, but now, my DD is happily at nursery and loves it !! Good luck with your decision. edited by Proudmama012 on 15/09/2013

Dr. Nadim from American hospital. He has been my child's doctor for a few years, and also performed surgery on her, and thanks to him, she got her eyes back! He is super sweet and very humane so an added bonus:))

Yes I agree after being a loyal customer of Ted Morgan's for many years, I decided to call it quits as apparently the stylist complained to her boss about me, that I cancel lots of appointments and they wanted me to pay a deposit in case I cancel an appointment!! I was furious, even clinics do not go this far!! I do agree that Elaine is super sweet though, but unfortunately, I feel so angry for being treated like that after all these years, and the thousands I spent in that salon, so I decided that I am never going back!

My husband has recently been diagnosed with sleep apnea. He went to Dr. Bahghat, from Modern International centre in Jumeirah. He then referred him to a company specialized in sleep studies, but done at home. Now he is using a machine during his sleep, and he is doing much better.

If you can afford Foremarke, then why not? If your company is not paying the school fees, then one thing can be certain, and that is that you must be a little bit wealthy. No shame in that! I agree! by the way, Anon is that you writing in seven days? I super like your writings especially the one about school holidays:)

If by 'selective' you mean only accepting those who are already academically ahead then no, they are not selective. Their definition of selective is somewhat different and is not restricted to academic ability. I think I didn't make myself clear, my children are not and never have been in either an International or UK school, as such ds1 (age 5) has not been introduced to phonics or simple reading, numbers above 10 - their advice was simply to start working on these at home, in the months prior to school starting so that the boys would not need extra help at school. Welcome to Dubai and Foremarke School!

Well; I did like Repton, and I do want to put my child in, so unless you have a personal experience about repton, please no judgment. No, I am not new to Dubai, and I have been here for years, and out of all the options I had, I believe that we made the right decision for our child, and we feel lucky she will be in! If you like to keep on the criticism, and call us rich or whatever, then go ahead. Seriously, some people in this city do not cease to amaze me! they think they can judge others without knowing anything about them except for the few lines on cyber space!!!! Technology can be a nerve killer!

Yes, and a couple of years waitlist, which makes it impossible for children to go to these schools. To be honest, this whole selection process does not do fairness to the children. I believe that no child should be refused for admission. At least that is the case of where I come from and that is Western Europe. It is actually illegal to not accept a child based on what he/she knows and does not know. Also, many so called very good schools if not all that I have visited with long waitlists do not have qualified and native speakers of English teaching assistants, and when I asked about that, they were being vague in their answer, and the argument was they do not do anything except for cleaning up, and arranging textbooks. When i visited those schools, that was not what the teaching assistants were doing! my child goes to one of the best nurseries in Dubai with extremely professional and qualified staff, and I want the same for my child when she goes to school. I hope it turns out to be a good school for all the children. edited by Proudmama012 on 31/05/2013 edited by Proudmama012 on 31/05/2013

The primary staff at Repton should be really good I heard. Also, the one I spoke with used to work for Foremarke in the UK, so it is only natural that she will be moving to Foremarke in Dubai. From what I understood when we spoke with the principal about the "selective" part that makes the school fees so high, he informed us that it is related to the staff ( starting from teachers to teaching assistants, all of whom are from the UK and have teaching qualifications) and the facilities they will offer and never for one second did he mention anything about being selective when it comes to the children. Yes, the principal did want to meet the parents, and I guess that he wanted to know the kind of parents and children going to the school, and whether they teach their children values and respect of themselves and others etc.. Also, as the facilities fee, will go with the child to secondary school in Repton. I am not justifying the high fees; however, I think the argument on this thread is not giving justice to the school, as we have yet to see what they will offer, and the fees in Dubai schools in general are super high in many schools, not just this particular school. Well, if some are calling the parents who send their children to this school are " nouveau riche idiots" then that sounds judgmental to me. edited by Proudmama012 on 31/05/2013

I have been on this forum for a couple of years, and I really cannot believe how judgmental some of the posters are on here, and I thought I was a judgmental person lol, but some of you ladies have topped me!! I am going to send my child to Foremarke school, and no I am not a "nouveau rich idiot" as one of you named the likes of us!! I am just a parent who is lucky that our company is helping with the fees of the school! Yes I do believe that Foremarke will be a good school, as I witnessed first hand the teachers and the head whom I spoke with during the assessment of my child! They were hands on, very qualified, and super friendly and professional. The ones I met are actually moving from Repton school, so yes the building is new but not all staff is new. I am aware that it is a new school, but I would like to put my child in a school which employs qualified teachers and qualified teaching assistants to teach my child. Yes they did confirm that to me in person! Some of you might argue that there are other schools who already have the same aspects I would like to have for my child, and with a much lesser price. Well unfortunately, my child was not lucky enough to get a spot in one of those established schools, so out of all the few options we had, we believe we made the right decision. Many parents have said this before to the ones who are so easy to judge on the kind of parents who send their children to schools some of you might make fun of due to fees, or other reasons, so I am telling you, please ladies, not everyone is as lucky as some who were able to send their children to the more established, profit and non profit schools!!! Do you have an idea about the waitlists for these schools? My daughter was on a waitlist for a couple of years in one established school, and till this minute, they did not take her. She was not even offered an assessment. Oh when it comes to the fees, well, before you judge one school, can you please do your research for the fees of the other new schools, one won't even have facilities in the first year, and is placed in a very strange area, with high voltage towers, or the other ones who are built in a middle of construction site, or who managed to lose my child during an assessment!!! let's be helpful and not judge, at least before we know all the facts, and people's circumstances!!

The ladies that are getting so aggressively angry over a push present clearly have alot of insecurity issues over not getting anything! You really need to chill. I didnt ask my DH for anything. He came home with a beautiful piece of tiffany jewelry and a handmade card and said 'I love you and our baby thank you for everything your doing for us'. I guess according to you ladies I should have bashed him over the head for being so sweet and considerate! Jeez. Inferior complexes or what. Akhh that is so sweet of him! you are a lucky woman:)

It was just a lighthearted conversation. what's wrong with expecting a present? no one is asking for a present above her DH's means, just an appreciation of what we had to go through, and up to his budget, what he can get. if he can only afford a flower, then that's great, and if he can get more, why not?? it is the thought that counts. why does everything have to turn so negative here???

hey aplouman, Thanks for ur reply... I have married in January, 2012 :) n got shifted here on 11th July... i have no children... I stay at discovery gardens n i have complted my law degree in India my home country... I am looking forward to pursue some teachin courses here.... were do u stay n were r u from? :) Are you looking to teach children? Hi Cymraes I am interested! I have Msc in Psychology. Sorry I don't have a job to offer, but if you have a PGCE you could teach here at a British school ...... Like Whites indicated, lazy typing and the reason I ask if they are interested in teaching children I would want a higher standard of written communication than text speak! In my line of work this would not be tolerated .... even if it's just chatting .... I am old school too! Cymraes, I am not the poster who used abbreviations. You asked if someone was interested in teaching and I am. If you are referring to Msc as an abbreviation, then it is not! It is how it is written, Msc ( master of science is not usually written). I am sure you know that, as you are a teacher:) I guess it is just a misunderstanding. edited by Proudmama012 on 24/07/2012 I think she was referring to the OP I was indeed, sorry ...... oh and I'm not a teacher either ..... too thick when I was younger! But was a proof reader .... congrats on your MSc, if you have a degree then I understand you can do a PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education) and from that gain Qualified Teacher Status, I know lots who have got into teaching via that route. I even think you can do it by correspondence courses. edited by cymraes on 24/07/2012 Thanks cymraes:) that was back in 2008 actually, but I have been staying at home for the past couple of years ( stay at home mom) but now I want to start teaching, so it will be great if you can tell me how I can do PGCE course via correspondence. Thanks again

He is however on Holidays at the moment and I had to find another paed due to both of my girls being pretty sick. Went to see Dr Omaima Ataya at medicentres in Motorcity and cannot praise her high enough - she is very thorough & calming and does only prescribe medicine if really needed. I had very bad panic attacks a couple of years ago. First, I got my thyroid checked to make sure it is not physical. Then, I took medication ( xanax for the first couple of months and Antidepressants) and I went for therapy ( CBT) and both saved me from those horrid attacks. I still do have anxiety to be honest, which manifests itself in a different form, but at least i got rid of my attacks and have managed to live a rather functional life since then.

I have a question, some of you mentioned not to leave kids in the car while putting the groceries..I usually put my kids in their car seats first, turn the car on then load off the stroller and the groceries, is that wrong then?? I cannot load the stroller first since my child is obviously in it, and also not the groceries, as we are usually in the parking area, and other cars are passing by and also with this heat, I need to put AC as fast as possible, so what's the right way then??? edited by Proudmama012 on 12/07/2012
