Hi, I am planing a Dow Cruise at the Creek for a cooperate event with business partners. We would like to hire one for ourselves for around 25+ people (if possible) with good food, maybe belly dancer, and some music and an opportunity to sit after dinner relaxed outside and chat. Has anyone booked something like that before and can advice me which one was good or bad? I would be also like to know how much it was? It can cost a little bit but it should be the arabic style of dows. TIA

Hi, our maid to be is here on an entry permit, we have already done the medical test in Ad and got the result and now we want to change it into a residence visa. But where do we get the labour contract and the form from? Does my hubby just need to go to the Immigration office in AD with the papers, take our maid along and everything will be dealt with there? Any advice if there is something else we need to think of? sorry, but all the information I found on the internet states the procedure in Dubai and Dubai Immigration told me, it could be differetnt in AD !? Thanks for any help.

Can anybody recommend them? I only used another company, but have entertainer vouchers left of these both and we have guests who would like to do the trip tomorrow. I assume all companies are driving to the same spot, but I am not sure. Has anyone used one of these companies and was satisfied.

Hello DX Bchica, congratulations to your pregnancy. I have a kind of the same problem, as I am due in 3 weeks and this time I definately need to express which I did not need with my 2 other ones. I have some Tommy Tippee bootles and some from NUK, just to find out what will be best _ only 2 of each and then I will see, if it will work. These are the ones, which they advertise are "harder" to use, so that the baby won't get used to an easy "milk flow" I got an electrical sterilizer from a friend as we do not have a microwave, but she used herself also the microwave ones as well as another friend, and both think, the microwave sterilizer are better and faster. Regarding the moses basket: I used one for both of my kids but without the rocking option, as I didn't want them to get used to falling in sleep only if they get "rocked". But that was my decission. I found it very useful to have it in the living room during the day. In the bedroom we used a crip/cot almost from the beginning. In fact I am actually selling the Moses Basket with Stand at the moment,as with No 3 I won't use it as it will be too dangerous with my 2 other ones running around :o). If you are interested in buying it, I can send you pictures. Asking price with stand and some sheets 150 DHR. Please email to sithum at web dot de Good luck

It seems I always go to the wrong shops. I do not really want to buy him a bag, it should be more like a kind of leather folder, with a zipper around which he can take to meetings. These kinds of folders where you can put business cards inside, a pen, a papers to make some notes and most important it should have also a ring binder so he can baste his note papers and everything is organized. Any idea? Maybe a shop in Dubai Mall or MOE? I have not been to Magrudys yet as I don´t know in which lmall I can still find them. It seems like a lot of Magrudys stores have closed. TIA

Thanks very much. Maybe I thought so, because last year my hubby worked for a UK company and the office was closed on the 25th and 26th. My sister living in Turkey also had always the 25th and 26th off, even given the fact she and another colleague where the only Christians among 25 other employees.

Hi, I delivered 2 babies there and going to deliver the third one there as well next year. I chose it because of Dr. Andrea as we have the same opinion of giving natural birth and not getting forced into a c-section. Dr. Andrea still deliveres there but has a private clinic now in Jumeirah 1. The rooms are very good and hubby could sleep there as well as there is a welcoming room in the "suites"with a big sofa. Support of the nurses where great, but sometimes a little bit too much. The only problem I had at the beginning, that I got confused with advices regarding breastfeeding. A lot of nurses come from different cultures and some advice you to wake up your baby every 4 hours to breastfeed at the beginning, even there is no milkflow yet and the other ones advice you to let the baby sleep. You should make up your mind what you think is best before. It is a small and very familiar clinic. What I find very good, that they respect your wishes if you strictly want to breastfeed or if you only want to get your baby bathed with clear water. I believe a normal birth is around 8500 DHR, and there are prenatatl packages for the check ups you can book if you go with one of the doctors in the hospital. I hope that helps.

Hello, I have just searched the forum again, as we really have troubles to get the right information regarding entry permit for our future maid who is here on a tourist visa. I saw, you have done this in October too. I almost have all information I need now, where to go to book the Kish flight, where to leave the original entry permit, but the only thing I still have troubles with, you might can answer me. We thought, we can apply for the entry permit while she is still here, give her the paper, flight her out and back again. AD Immigration told us, that is not possible, she needs to be out of the country, we need to get the entry permit then (hopefully at the same day) and send a copy to her and then she can re-enter. How the heck should we do that if she will be at Kish Airport . How can we send or fax her the copy? Was it possible for you to give your maid the original entry permit form before she left Dubai? Should we just try it again and hope another person will deal with it? Hope you can give me some more information

Hello , thanks for all your replies so far, but unfortunately my problem is not solved. Scaralex: I believe rules have changed and it is not possible to get the entry permit before the maid has left the country again. We thought it is easier to send her to Kish as for Oman she needs a visa too. The questions I still have is if I can have the entry permit somewhere deposit on a counter in Dubai Airport? n_b18: Thanks for the link. I will make my way to the office on Saturday and hope I can get the ticket and some information there. Genkigirl: Do you know if your friends maid was sent there in the last 2 months and if whe could give me some detailed information. Maybe there is someone who has just done this procedure (in the last weeks) !! Would be great to get some more information

Thanks very much for your reply. Americanfamily3, could you please also tell me where you booked the flight and if I need to deposit a work visa or entry visa permit on the airport. Do I get it right, that she flies out to Kish Airport, will get a leaving stamp and then comes back the same day and therefore there need to be a different entry permit somewhere at the airport. Would really very much appreciate some more information. TIA

Hello, I am a first time maid- sponsor (at leat I hope we can handle everything in the next days :o) ). We have find a maid who is here on a tourist visa. AD immigration told me today I can't change it into a work visa and she needs to leave the country ( 3 weeks ago they told me I can change it into a work visa but need to pay a fee of 500 DHR ??? I should record these calls ;o). So I need a flight to Kish for her, if I got it right , then my hubby needs to go to immigration in AD, need to apply for a entry permit or work visa, which he will hopefully get immidiately and then she can come back again and we can start the real residency process, right????? f that is correct, does she already need to be out of the country before my hubby applies for the work visa, that means one day earlier or can everything be done on the same day? Where can I book the Kish flight and where do we need to place the work visa for her that she can come in again? Thanks very much in advance any information.

Hi, does anyone knows if I can renew our ID cards still in Dubai given the fact that since they have expired we have now a residence visa of Abu Dhabi as hubby works there now. We live in Dubai and I would prefer to do it here rather as driving to AD. Can I also renew it for my husband or does he needs to go there himself?

Thanks very much for your reply. Is it possible that this additional fee is 500 DHR? Do you have any idea how much the visit visa costs? We are still not sure if we would like to get her first here on a visit visa or provide her immidately with a working visa.

Thanks for your reply. Could you please tell me what "expensive" means? Roughly? We do not have an insurance which will cover it. Another dentist we heard is very good charges AEd 1200 for the first consultation, which I think is very expensive. Don´t want to know how much the removal would be.

Honestly, all the bags I saw so far in the shops are never real leather, only if I buy really branded ones. My friend told me, at Karama you get real leather bags, and very often they offer you different qualities for different prices.

My son is at Little Wonders at Al Manara. It is not the newest ones and the facilities are not the best, but he likes it very much and I prefer the system - learning through playing. It is open all year and has very reasonable prices compare to others. It is a mixure of all nationalities which I like too. Opening hours are from 7am until 5.30 or 6.00 pm.

Thanks for all your answers. That sounds not great. The PRO of my husbands company seems to be not very informed. He mentioned we can just leave the country, pay the fine and come in again in September on a normal tourist visa. Our visa will then be issued very shortly. I definately need to check with immigration before, as I do not want to be at the airport with 2 toddlers and have a hustle. Can anyone of you give me a hint how to go about? Sorry, I am a little bit blonde. Should I go to the immigration office in Karama or somewhere to the airport ? Thanks again for your replies.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately this won´t help. Not sure how I should explain it in English. There is something broken on one side. Usually when I pressed both buttons it was easy to push it forward and down to fold it. But on one side this automatic "spring" is broken , so no chance to push it downwards.

Hello Scaralex, sorry to beeing so blonde, but I have read on another thread that there will be a problem if the maid is already in the country. Is that true? The sister of a friends maid will come in September (on a visit visa) from Sri Lanka and we probably going to sponsor her if she is like her sister. I spoke to her already on the phone but surely we will test her before. Can you roughly give me an idea how much the visa costs are and how to go about it. Can I get everything typed in Dubai?I do not really want to run from one place to another as I will have my little one with me and beeing pregnant. Thanks very much

I think this question is not easy, but I need to say I am not British and in our country it totally works different. If you invite guest, you pay for their food and drinks !!! We had a afternoon reception with tea and coffee, cakes and all kinds of soft drinks, wine and beer. In the evening we had a set up menu and also all drinks were paid by us except spirits like wodka, whiskey. We announced that before and it was fine for everyone. We had quite a few British guests invited but they did not bother at all and just drank beer and wine all evening. (We had 125 guests, and had 2 days before a pre-wedding party with 300 guests, but only for snacks and drinks) I also need to say, that in our cultur the couple get quite a bit of money from the guests (not only a toaster or something else) so we could effort it. I probably would do the same in the UK. Have a open bar for juices , beer and wine and just exclude spirits.

Thanks AnonDubai for your bump. Just saw the other tread. OMG, everybody scares me off. We were so happy we finally found something. Amelia: We will be moving to Amway, but in a 3 bed flat without balcony. I thought the building and the flat looked yuiet good maintained , but I recognized the cracks in the pathways, ... I don´t think the noise of cars will be a problem, at least I think so , as we come from Bur Dubai and we are used to a lot of noise and sleep with open windows, even my 2 little ones, and noone wakes up. I am concerned about traffic in the morning, but will do a search on the other threads now and hope I will find a few good things regarding JBR. JLT was also a consideration, but we thought it is too quiet , as said, we come from a busy Bur Dubai. Thank you both for your info .

Got mine a very nice one at Zoppini at Burjuman Mall. Unfortunately the shop has closed down, but there is one at the Outlet Mall and definately in some other malls in Dubai.
