Thank you all so much for your replies! We have decided that India is not the place for us, before I start a debate (not my intention) we do not feel that it will be the family holiday we could relax on, so have booked elsewhere. I am sure India is a fantastic place and lots to see, however just not the place for us at the present time. Of course its not the place for you!!! Seems like you know very little of India, so please don't stress yourself and do go to a 'safe' enough place. Anyways, wondered what kind of a post this was, in the first place!

My child attended EISM for 5 years starting from KG1 and I was overall quite happy with the school. They are not very strong academically but my child was always happy there and the teachers were wonderful.

You got mail Nathalie. SweetSugar and Sey83, yup, bit the bullet and advertised on dubizzle.. I was only reluctant because of the number of silly/absurd calls we have to face. Fingers crossed we get a lovely buyer for my lovely car :-)

Mine are 5.5 years apart at 10 n 4 , they adore each other and can't wait for each others company. They get on extremely well and of course they fight normally due to the older one irritating the younger, or with the younger one trying to take undue advantage of a situation. but the older one generally gives in , both have rules - absolutely no using hands ( as in hitting etc) , no calling each other names and if its getting too hot to handle have to bring the matter to either of the parents. At the end of the day , in my opinion, fighting although not desirable does give them social and survival skills . (I hope ;) Mine are exactly the same!!

I was checking on the Emirates website for flights to Australia. If you book from Abu Dhabi vs Dubai, it is actually cheaper by around 500 dhs... for the same flight! You have to use their bus transport from Abu Dhabi to Dubai and then board the aircraft in Dubai. Anyone knows why? Also, if anyone knows airlines with substantially lower fares than EK, please let me know...

Let us not be naive in thinking the world to be full of respectful people! There are people that will do anything for a fast buck, however disgusting others might think that might be. Everyone has to protect themselves and their reputation.

We've been here 3 months and really like it. Lovely large villas and gardens, quiet and there's a decent shopping centre five mins away at the Springs. There's also a fitness first there and you can join the club at Jumeirah Islands for a reduced rate. I agree about the lack of street names, but I haven't had too many problems with taxi drivers - yet!! Yes all the white goods are included and if you're away from the pylons you wouldn't know they were there. Same goes for having to busy roads nearby, we hardly ever hear them. I love the fact that I don't feel that far out and can get to a Metro in around 10/15 mins and with a car MoE is less than half an hour. A friend of mine moved there and she described the same stuff! lovely!

I see that she is outraged and many folk are 'disgusted' at the newspapers, but I feel that she needs to take some responsibility for her own actions here. Different rules apply to the royal family and no matter how private that villa was, there was always a chance of sneaky pictures getting taken. She would have been surrounded by security personal, royal advisers, and domestic staff at the chateau and I wouldn't take my b00bies out in front of folk like that, even in my own home. In this case everyone seems to be shooting the messengers and pointing fingers in all directions. So is she meant to change under a towel in her wardrobe forever for fear of a long lens pointing into her house? Just because she's a royal doesn't mean the press own her. Yes absolutely, no more parading around with all on display, go change in the bedroom with the curtains drawn - how simple is that! Once a royal, you have to give up the 'common' privileges of life!!

Some years ago I remember reading an EW's post about trying to spell her name to someone over the phone. Her name had 2 'n's in it. Lets say it was Annie for example. She said that the person on the phone tried to spell it back to her by using international code words and started well with "Alpha, :" and then said "Nipple, Nipple..." I still get a lot of laughs out of that one. LOL that's going to make me laugh for the next 2 weeks!!

Well I don't think they use a daily maid as they both work... However I must say it looks great inside, they have good security and with restaurants, a beauty salon and a decent size supermarket all in the same complex, the main disadvantage of being so far away does not seem that bad at all.

Hi analyst, I have friends living in Skycourts and they love it there! DCooling charges are AED 400 p.m. for a small 2 bedroom apt. They love the fact that each tower has its own gym and the open air pools are lovely because they are generally shaded from direct sun by the towers shade.

Let me add my experience with Drs N&A... they are very expensive but I do not think you get what you pay for... DH went to get a tooth extracted - it was a mess and he was in pain for two months after that! DS does braces there... the dentist does regular checkups which is included in the package, but I was surprised and shocked when I took DS to another dentist for cleaning and one cavity, he discovered SIX cavities that were quite obvious to him as soon as DS opened his mouth! I would have expected the orthodontist to at least mention the cavities to me!!! but nothing, nada...

Awesome... ok here goes.. 2 kids aged 3 and 8, would prefer private or catholic schools... since the AUD exchange rate is such a killer nowadays, we don't have a big budget for a house so very expensive suburbs is not an option! If you could also point out suburbs that we should stear clear of? I would love family friendly suburbs and safe in general... Hinterland / acreage is lovely but we are thinking of that in maybe a couple of years time once we settle in and suss all places..

We have friends in Molendinar but really are ready to settle anywhere that has easy access to good schools, family friendly areas. OP, sorry for barging into your post..

No worries famnoz, its not a surprise :-) Even more now, with the strong AUD! Glad to hear that you are loving it, sgilli3, home is home after all! We will also be taking a container and looks like we will ship our entire house! Did any of you ship your refrigerators? I am unsure about this, how the coolant/compressor etc. will cope with the transfer.
