Carla1 - Yes it's better she went for vacation now rather than when baby is around. You will need all the help you can get with household chores. I just got a basic white cot from Mothercare, nothing fancy. The important part is the mattress! Get the best mattress you can find. Changing table with drawers was handy too. We got my DS a moses basket for when he was just born, he used it for like the first 2 months as I thought he's still too tiny for the cot. Graco swing was heaven sent. There were times that DS would only sleep while he's in there, thankfully he grew out of that habit. We also got him a vibrating chair with music but didn't really use it that much because he preferred the swing. I sold/gave away most of his baby items then after a month I found out I was pregnant again! Hahaha. So I have an excuse to buy everything again, and the best part is it will be pink my favorite color lol. The best way for time to fly is really shopping and decorating the nursery. Love love love it. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did x

TDB - I called Mothercare but they only stock Baby Jogger City Mini and no plans of selling City Select anytime soon :( I am now all over the place. Have started looking at Phil and Ted's Verve and Promenade as they sell them here. Very confused now but I still have time and I don't want to rush like how I was with DS and ended up having pram regret lol. Someone said Toys R Us sell BJCS so I'm planning to go to Dubai this weekend to have a look. Your LO is due soon, I still have 12 weeks left. Wishing you a safe delivery. God bless. x edited by pinkbutterfly on 18/03/2014

Carla1- Yes I have one of those pregnancy pillows, I got mine from mothercare and they're really fab. Helped a lot especially in the last trimester when my bump was too big for comfort lol. Have you started decorating your baby's room? How about washing and ironing the newborn/0-3 months clothes? I started organizing the nursery room, closet, hospital bag, etc during that time. But now I don't have time to even think about them! I used a special detergent for baby's clothes (Purex Baby) as we were just using the regular Ariel powder for ours and even I sometimes feel they're too strong. I also kept reading about breastfeeding as I was very eager but even after all that reading I still wasn't prepared enough. You can also go to antenatal classes with DH if you have the time. HTH. Enjoy the last 12 weeks, soon we will have our little ones in our arms. I just can't wait :)

Hi ladies. Some moms have found the carrycot attachment to stroller quite useful. I just didn't. The first few weeks my DS was born we were mostly home trying to establish breastfeeding. We went out like a few times in the morning to get some vitamin D but it was too hot even at 7am (he was born in April, imagine our babies born in June) by the time he was 4 months, the cot was too small! So yes, waste of 999dhs. Now, I'm on the hunt for a double stroller and this time I'm really taking my time researching and asking experienced moms rather than just jumping on the best looking one. That was my mistake last time. Anyone been to baby bazaar in Times Square? I've only been there once and I got a lot of barely used educational toys for my DS for a really good price it's almost for free. I would definitely recommend it, even if you're not planning to buy anything. Just to pass time and meet other moms with bumps. :) Would love to meet up for coffee but unfortunately we are not staying in Dubai. :( So enjoy ladies, hope you have a great time x Kathi84 - My advice regarding strollers would be take your time to choose, research, try them out, ask other moms and ask yourself what are the things you're looking for in a stroller. Car seat attachment is a good plus. I got a Quinny Buzz 3 the first time around because it looked nice, maxi cosi attaches to it, lovely red fabric and very modern looking because of the 3 wheels. I read the reviews, people complaining about front swivel wheels getting stuck, shopping basket too small and the frame being too heavy. But I disregarded them all because I loved the way it looks. Stupid decision, after 5 months I sold it for almost half the price and got a Bugaboo Bee instead. So I hope when you choose "The one" you have thought about it real hard so you won't make the same mistake I did. :) Good luck and have fun shopping!!!

I think you got it covered. If you're planning to breastfeed, don't forget lanolin cream, breastfeeding cover (if you prefer to use one), breastfeeding bra and pads. Newborn diapers, but don't buy a lot of the same brand because your baby's skin might not like it. My DS loved his swing but barely used his bouncer. Colorful playmat for tummy time. My DS hated swaddling so we used sleeping bags instead. Waterproof mattress cover. Waterproof mat for changing table. Sudocrem for redness or rashes.

My DS never wore a cap, so I wasted all my money on those lol. He hated mittens as well so I had to make sure that his nails are always very short. Don't buy a lot of the same things like these, because your baby might not like it. My maxi cosi car seat snaps into the quinny buzz so it was great during the first few months so I didn't have to disturb him to get out of the car. The bassinet like I said was a waste to be honest. If you will not be out for more than 2 hours then baby can stay in the car seat, otherwise they say it damages their back to be in a reclined position at a young age. My nursing pillow was a gift from my baby shower so no idea where it came from but the brand name is Boppy and I got extra covers from amazon. I never washed the pillow itself to be honest, just the covers and they still look new until now. I prefer the electric steam sterilizer than the microwave one simply because my microwave sterilizer can only do 4 bottles and the steam can do 6 so maybe I'm just lazy haha. Don't forget to get lanolin nipple cream if you're planning to breastfeed because it really helps a lot in the first 2 weeks. Just keep applying it after every feed. I used the medela lanolin. And the BEST ADVICE I EVER GOT, SLEEP AS MUCH AS YOU CAN.

Since this is my second baby, I have been feeling kicks since 16 weeks. Barely any movement in the daytime and mostly at night, sometimes it wakes me up around 3:00am. I hope she will not be nocturnal like this when she's out of the womb lol. I started shopping with my first when I reached 24 weeks, I bought things bit by bit, it was easier for me. You will not find everything you want in one shop so you will be going through shops and malls, it's good exercise too! There are some things I bought that were barely used and I have some favorites too. My advice would be, don't buy too much clothes especially newborn and 0-3 months, believe me they grow out of it really quick. And even if our babies will be born in the summer, we are always in ac so you have to consider that. I bought a Quinny Buzz 3 and used the bassinet with it max 10 times, so that's one of the things I regret buying. Boppy pillow is a BIG help especially since I was new to breastfeeding. You should start shopping because in the last few weeks you might be too tired. Enjoy ladies.

Thanks citronkb, I will go and check when we go to Dubai. I think the UAE price is ridiculous though. So I'm planning to buy it online, have it delivered to my aunt's house in the states then she sends it to me by post. Or if I'm lucky someone coming to Dubai will bring it for me. Hah.

Thank you very much TDB. I will keep all that in mind. I also think BJCS is the best looking double stroller. And I really need one because my DS will only be 14 months when his baby sister will be born. Again, thank you soooo much for taking your time to review BJCS for me. Maybe you should start a baby blog or something since you know a lot and you can help other moms too. :) Wishing you a safe delivery. Take care. Thanks again. x

Hi June mamas. We've all been very quiet. Hopefully, everyone is doing great and enjoying their bumps :) We found out at 16 weeks that we're having a girl, and confirmed it in the anatomy scan as well. So we're very excited that my 10 month old boy will be having a sister in THREE MONTHS! Yes, we have three months left until we get to hold our little babies. This pregnancy had been like my first, no morning sickness. no pains, nothing at all, it's like I'm just getting fat lol. But I had a really hard labor, 2 days of contraction that goes on and off!!! I'm hoping that this will be better as it's the second time around, and I'm sure the birth canal has somehow expanded haha. In my anatomy scan, the sonographer found a placental cyst. So I'm under observation right now, but my dr said there's nothing to worry about because it's very small and it didn't get any bigger in the last 4 weeks. Fingers crossed everything will go smoothly. How's everyone doing? x

TDB - It's hard to find one nowadays. Even mumzworld is out of stock. So I've decided to just buy online and ship it here. Where did you buy yours? What do you mean it's complicated? How's the weight? Is it not too heavy? Is it heavy to push? Sorry for all the questions, everyone I know have Phil and Teds and they all said if given a choice, they will choose BJCS instead. But I've honestly never tried it, I've chosen it based on reviews I've read online. Not a smart decision I know lol. Hope to hear from you. Thank you in advance. x

Hi everyone. Thank you for the warm welcome. I'm sorry for the late response as taking care of my 8 month old is like a full time job, lol. We've decided to wait until the 20th week scan to find out baby's gender, we've been told in my previous pregnancy that I was having a girl (16th week) and then in the 20th week anomaly scan we've been told it's a boy! So I think I'll be more patient this time to avoid false hope. As long as baby is healthy, that's all that matters :) Carly - There are regular playgroups and coffee meetups where you can meet other moms with babies/kids so don't worry :) Hope everything is well for all the preggy mommies to be. x

Hey ladies. I'm from the April 2013 group. And guess what I'm expecting again! Due date is 12 June 2014! I know it's going to be hard having 2 kids under 2, but I'm really looking forward to it. It was very unexpected but it happened so we're just embracing the new blessing. I'm currently a full time mom to my 7 month old, and he's such a perfect happy little boy. Hopefully his sister/brother will be like him inshAllah :) We are living in Ras Al Khaimah and I go to RAK Hospital for my antenatal check ups. Alhamdulillah everything is fine and the baby is healthy. He/she was moving a lot during the NT scan. Hope everyone will have a safe and happy pregnancy. Looking forward to sharing info and experiences with you all. xxx

Hi Meagle, thanks for the response. Well, there's nothing really. I've never used the new insurance before. It's my first time to visit that hospital too. If it's relevant though, I delivered my DS 6 months ago in a different hospital. Could that be their reason for review? edited by pinkbutterfly on 22/10/2013

We've been to the playgroup only twice because my son was still too young back then, it was in someone's house here in Mina. But we'll keep going now that he's more playful and social. I've never been to the soft play in the mall but looking forward to it! I'm in the facebook group. We went to the last playgroup, did you? :) We've been here for a year now, how about you? But I usually stay home so I don't really know a lot of people. Looking forward to meet you, we might bump into each other in the next playgroup or in RAK Hospital. :D When are you planning to go? Did you get an appointment already?

Oh, I think I'm between 5-7 weeks not really sure that's why I'm looking forward for my first check up. I haven't been there yet and I don't know anyone who delivered there so no recommendations :( I wanted to go there first as it's near compared to driving to Dubai. Are you from RAK too? A friend recently delivered in Al Zahra Hospital in Al Barsha. I visited her and her room is sooo fab! Her OB and the midwives were excellent. So if I don't like what I see in RAK, I might go there.

TDB, Daza and mich25. Thank you ladies. I still can't believe I'm pregnant again. I didn't see my dr yet but I've used 5 different home pregnancy test and all came out positive. I don't know how far along I am as I had irregular period. I guess I have to start looking at double strollers now. Reading all your advice made me a bit excited actually. I'm worried about what our family and friends would say though. Hopefully they will be supportive as well. Again, thank you ladies. I really appreciate all the kind, encouraging words. Hey everyone. Since our LOs will soon be on solids, just wondering if you have recommendations for a high chair. I'm going crazy from all the options. I want a sturdy, durable, well padded and easy to clean high chair. I'm looking at mamas and papas, cosatto noodle and chicco polly. But I'm really confused. I read good reviews on ikea high chair so we went there, but DS looks really uncomfortable. Any tips ladies? TIA xxx

I dreaded breastfeeding the first 2 weeks after my DS was born. But I was very determined and I know (from research) that it will get better. And it did!!! I used Medela lanolin cream and it helped a lot. You're not a bad mom, that's how I felt during that time too because I really hated it. Now 5 months later I always look forward to feeding him. Just hold on it will get better I promise. X

Best buys: -Maxi cosi Cabriofix -Graco swing (My lifesaver!!!) -Changing table -Moses basket with rocking stand (You wouldn't be using it for a long time but it was nice having it when DS was newborn and still too small for his cot) -Play gym (To keep LO entertained and for tummy time too!) -Boppy pillow and rocking chair while BF'ing Stuff that I wish I didn't buy: -Quinny Buzz 3 (It's too heavy and too big! Ugh! DS has outgrown the bassinet in less than a month) -Too many newborn/0-3 months clothes!!! Most of them were never worn! -Swaddle Me and other swaddling blankets, mittens and hats (DS hated them all!) Oh and I'm glad I never gave up on breastfeeding. The first 2 weeks were bad but it gets better and you'll be so thankful that you didn't quit. I never thought I'll be saying this but I really love breastfeeding. Hi ladies. Thank you so much for the feedback. I did some research about reflux, my DS doesn't have the signs but I will still keep in mind to ask his pedia next visit. My MIL thinks DS is spoiled because I'm always carrying him, I said that's impossible because I read somewhere that babies under 6 months CANNOT be spoiled. So we did an experiment. I put DS down on his back and he started crying. We let him cry for a bit while trying to entertain him with toys but he just kept crying. But the second I carried him in my arms, he smiled!!! We did it several more times and we got the same result. I don't think he's spoiled he's just a clever cookie LOL.

At the end of the day it's what's best for baby that really matters. I still can't wait for my Ameda Lactaline to come though. I'm always engorged and leaking, I feel like the milk is going to waste. So now I'm just planning to pump and store until 6 weeks.

Thank you ladies for your feedback. I really appreciate it. I just ordered the Ameda Lactaline from the supplier. xxx Meagle - Thank you. DH helps me with bath time, but since DS is only 2 weeks most of the time he's just eating and/or sleeping. Since DS is our first child, he really wants to be involved all the time even when feeding. I tried to give DS to him after every feed so he can burp him but he still insists that he wants to feed him and suggests giving formula. I don't want to give formula (not yet) so I think expressing breast milk would be the best solution. But thanks for your input, it's greatly appreciated. x

MrsAbdalla - Yes I got epidural and it didn't work. My dr said it happens sometimes! I'm "lucky" I guess. Lol. He's still a bit jaundiced but his pediatrician said there's really nothing to worry about, just keep breastfeeding him. I asked him if I can put my baby in the sun, but he said it will not really help and will just burn his skin. But we still go out in the balcony in the morning around 7am to get fresh air and the morning sun. It's lovely. Ahh it's good that your DD is gaining weight! Bless her! :) I only feed on one breast because he always passes out while feeding, then after 1.5-2 hrs he's awake for the other one. As long as he's gaining weight then I guess I'm doing it right. :) Alenka - Congratulations on Elijah! Lovely name! I know what you mean by nurses and drs in the hosp. I felt the same way! Unfortunately we couldn't leave early because my DS had jaundice so we had to stay another night for his photo therapy. Ohh I'm sooo happy for you Alenka. I don't mind going through it all over again in the future, hopefully with a daughter. :) Haha. DS is only 2 weeks and I'm already thinking of having another one. How crazy is that? I'm feeding on demand, which is every 2-3hrs. Does your LO feed on single or both breasts? Wow 15 mins! My DS feeds for 30-40 mins!!! He keeps falling asleep I have to wake him up every now and then. I still didn't get a breast pump until now but I'm definitely getting one because DH wants to go out for dinner once or twice a month. We can leave DS to my in laws for a few hours.

My apologies. I've always classified the "big black ones" as DSLR (which actually stands for DIGITAL single lens reflex cameras), and whenever I hear "digital cameras" I think of the smaller ones. Again, MY SINCERE APOLOGIES. I have the Canon 1100D, it's a starter model. It's enough for me as I was only taking pics of random things and just recently my newborn DS. I'm using the 2 lens that came with it when I bought it. If you're planning to go professional in the future you can get the more expensive models. HTH

MrsAbdalla - Same here. I feel like all I've been doing these past 12 days is breastfeed. I had a bit of soreness as well due to improper latch (DS and I are learning together) but now it's getting better. My DH is just like yours too haha. He asked me last night if our little Zain ever gets full because he sees me feeding him all the time. And he thinks he will get fat because of it. Sometimes men are just so clueless. Lol. Wow good for you! I can't even think of putting makeup on, except when we went for follow up with dr for DS jaundice. Well I never wore makeup at home anyway so that's why. How did your delivery go? You're one lucky lady! :) Alenka - Ahh best of luck hun. Inshallah this week you will see your LO. He will come at his own time, take it easy. BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF US! :) God bless all the LOs. xxx Alenka - Any news dear? Wishing you a safe and fast delivery. xoxo Oh yeah I'm a mammy machine. I still can't believe it until now that I've been through all that pain and survived! I hope you don't go through something like that. Wishing you all the best. I haven't had the time to check the forum as I'm really busy. Breastfeeding is really a full time job. I never expected it to be like this. My nipples are soooooo sore :( I feel selfish in saying or just thinking about this but I'm not enjoying it even one bit. But I'm doing it not for myself but for my DS because I know it's best for him. He feeds every 2 hours, are your LOs the same? Babyboy- Oh yeah our LOs share the same birthday and we both had long labor. What a day that was! I had an epidural but it didn't really work for me so I felt everything! Even the pulling from the stitches because I had an episiotomy. But like I said, all the pain went away when I heard my little Zain's first cry. Alhamdullilah! I know what you mean by Hollywood movies. There I was thinking I'll walk into the hospital and 3 hours later I'll be out with a baby in my arms... NOT! Maxmistry - Thanks for the tip Max. Medela swing is the first on my list, but like Lewis my DS wouldn't sleep without latching on my nipple, I'm his soother!!! So now that made me think again if it's worth all the hassle of sterilizing since I don't even have the time to do other things at the moment. Bunintheoven - Congrats on Ned! Oh you're so lucky to have your parents over and help with the new baby. I wish my mom is here with me. Although my MIL has been great help. I was on google most of the time in the hospital as well! Haha. I guess that's pretty normal for new moms. Again, big congratulations to all of us. We all deserve our little blessings from everything that we had been through. Hugs and kisses to all the LOs. xoxoxox

Hi ladies! Congratulations to everyone! I've been inactive for days, my hands are really full at the moment. I just finished bf'ing so I just thought I'd check the forum and update. I had my little man, Zain last Thursday April 25! And my life has changed ever since. I can barely sleep but I'm not complaining. I feel really happy and blessed. Alhamdulillah. I had a very traumatic experience, but as they say it's well worth it. I was admitted for sweeping (hurts like ****) then the horrific contractions started but never progressed. I was having contractions 5 mins apart for 2 days (I know how you feel Babyboy) but not dilating any further than 3 cm! I couldn't eat, I couldn't sleep but I told myself I can do it. My dr assured me I can do normal delivery so I just went with the flow. The 3rd day I got to 4cm, I was brought to L&D suffered heavier contractions for 5 hrs then had the best reward ever, my perfect little man! :) He's worth all the pain! When I first heard him cry, it was like all the pain earlier never happened. I'm overjoyed. :) How's everyone doing? My LO is cluster feeding at the moment. He sleeps while feeding, he's sooo lazy! Breastfeeding is going well for both of us, it's just that I can barely do other things. Anyone pumping BM? Any tips on which brand or model is good? There's just so much to choose from I'm really confused that until now I still can't decide which one to get. TIA xxx

Max - Thanks for the tip dear. But I guess my LO is very stubborn. He doesn't want to leave mammy's womb at all. Lol. I'm going for check up as today is supposed to be my due date. Can you believe it? It feels like a few weeks ago when we were 16 weeks and talking about our ultrasound. Time really flies. How's Lewis? xxx MrsAbdalla - Oh wow! Big congratulations!!! The first baby girl of April board. I'm so happy for you! xxx I bet she's better than how you dreamt her to be. Good luck and keep us updated. :)
