Oh dear, that's not good. Did they provide you with a new cleaner? It's a Scottish lady who runs it, did she take your feedback on board? You are right they are expensive which is why I want references before I commit. Have you got any other recommendations? Thanks Is that the woman who advertises all over numerous facebook groups ? Yes she advertises on Facebook groups which was how I found her

I use Helping Hands who charge Aed 30 an hour. They are reliable and although my girl has limited English she does a good job.

Hi, my advice would be to be as clear as you can about your expectations of her. With regards to holiday, this normally comes at the end of their 1 year contract. However, it makes sense to send her for her annual leave when you go for yours and yes would count as her annual leave, you should be clear with her about his from the beginning. I know a few people with cameras, but they are not hidden, again if you install them, let her know they are there and why. If you pay her extra for babysitting then I would suggest around Aed 25 an hour. It's good to hear she has family here as it will help her feel less homesick so I don't see why you don't let her stay with them on her day off. This is the agreement I had with a previous maid and it was fine. I would advise that you get the name and number of the relative she is staying with in case you needed to reach her and couldn't reach her. I have never had a maid that had a driving licence so can't answer that question. The contract you are given by the government when you sponsor her is very clear on the roles and responsibilities. I would also have a written agreement with regards to the duties you expect from her, as I did not do this with one and when I asked her to wash my car she said it was not in her contract! With regards to them doing extra, this is very much based on the individual, some are really good and some need more guidance. Good luck

Yes we need chairs, tables and access to a projector and screen. 2 coffee/tea breaks and lunch. It's a training workshop for line managers and we want an environment which will stimulate some creativity! Any suggestions will be gratefully received.

Can anyone recommend a venue to do some training for 30 people, that is not in a hotel but somewhere with good natural light and a bit different in and around Dubai? Thanks

I use Aramex's shop and ship service which can be used for purchases made from UK and USA. They give a PO Box address that you arrange to have your purchases sent to and they courier them over for you. Very efficient and good value for money. Good luck.

Hi I am interested to know where did you source your live out nannies? I am looking at this as an option as my DS will start school in September and there does not appear to be an afternoon club option. Thanks

My DS stuttered at the age of 3 and I took him for an assessment at Kids First, he had some speech therapy which was really helpful as it helped us to use techniques to deal with it. Thankfully he got through it and the therapy helped. I do agree though, for many children it's a phase as their minds are working so fast their mouths are not able to keep up.

I used Inside Out Technical Services dealt with an English guy called Michael. He was competitive in his prices I.e. Cheaper than Hitches and Glitches and Tool Time. We were really pleased with their service. Search for them on the web.

You can download the Apple or Andriod app from KHDA, they are the education authority that inspect schools and publish results or look at their website www.khda.gov.ae all types of curriculum schools are listed there. Good luck.

Did you check with KHDA to see if you should be getting a questionnaire for all your children? You can also check to see if they are allowed to close the school.

I was in the same situation, I called DRND on 8005111 and they said you are responsible for the maid until she leaves or visa is transferred. If she wants to look for another job, you will only get your deposit once you cancel her visa or she goes on a new visa.

Yes, House Hunters get my vote too. We bought 5 years ago and it was such a stressful experience. House Hunters were really helpful. I think it does depend on the area where you want to buy though as agents tend to have their specialist areas.House Hunters have a good grip on the Arabian Ranches.

What a good idea. They look great. How much was that Evi? Yes we paid around AED 5000, there were 20 cabinet doors and 3 drawers. They come and remove the doors and paint them in their workshop and then when they are done they come back and fit them, brilliant!

Maybe check with your car insurance company as your sister may not be covered if they don't have a UAE licence.

I tried a number cleaning companies and got frustrated because they would only do a minimum of 4 hours and charged 40/45/50 aed an hour. I eventually found Helping Hands who come for a minimum of 3 hours and only charge 30 aed an hour. They are good at changing a cleaner if you are are not happy with the one you have supplied.

It's very easy, if you are in Dubai go to Al Barsha traffic department with your car registration and ID and they will transfer it. Make sure the buyer has insurance and there will be a small fee to transfer it

Yes, we have used Big Wok and it was good. They also have other cuisines which is handy if some want Chinese and some want something else. The Noodle Room in JBR is excellent, a bit pricey but worth it and they deliver to AR, allow an hour though at least.
