Definitely, I don't want to do anything underhanded - their end of probation review is coming up and pending the discussions I'm trying to run through my options - but also keeping them in line with the Labour Law which is a bit brutal - you can dismiss someone with no reason in the first 6 months but you can't extend their probation for a few months whilst you put in place a performance improvement plan. Thanks ladies. I have to say that you are an amazing manager. If an employee is really trying and working hard, then the problem is that he/she was recruited for the wrong position. Demotion or I would call it 'reassignment' would be the right thing to do. Just make sure to do it via the MOL and with the employee consent. With managers like you employees can move mountains. Are you hiring :)

Oman run is possible, but only for nationalities that get visa on arrival. Kenya is not one of these countries. You can hire a Kenyan maid, but if she is on a tourist visa she will have to exit in order for her to change her status. This can be done via Kish. If you have never done this before (processing a visa for maid) you should look into a company or a good typing center that can guide you on the steps that will need to be done. Hope this was helpful. Cheers. edited by mpp_jl on 12/04/2015

definitely adopt. you can find so many breeds for adoption, so even if you are picky you will find what you are looking for on Bin Kitty Collective on Facebook, Feline Friends or other animal groups. there is a small donation for that, but is goes to a good cause + you get tuns of support :)

Why don't you check Dubai kennels for a pup? They have lots of animals that are pure breed and are looking for new homes for free. You will help yourself and an animal in need.

the rent here is controlled artificially by adverts how the rents are going up all the time even when 75% of the property is not occupied, so..... no, I don't think so.

Government here helps cases like that believe it or not. If someone is in need they just need to contact the local family office. Not to mention that begging for money is illegal here and the fine and jail time is for the person that gives the money too. There is a trend in Dubai for KSA citizens to come before and during Ramadan with their all families and scam people with “my sick child” and “oooo, no, no cash for petrol’. Just remember that if someone really needs help they will not ask for cash.

Ladies, can anyone advise where there is an Emirates ID office in the new Dubai area with a typing centre? I believe you can now renew your ID card online but I also need to change my name so I am assuming I will need to visit one of the offices? If anyone can help with a location or has recently done the same and can confirm all the documents required it would be much appreciated. Thanks :) You cannot change the name. EID is connected to your visa, which is connected to your immigration file and the name will not change even if your name is now different because of your marriage lets say.

English is first language and from my experience very hard working people. can't ask for more but - don't go according to nationality, check personality. even a perfect maid may not be for you if personality is not for your family. edited by mpp_jl on 07/05/2014

Ok. Lost the topic somewhere there in between…  I love pets and have some. Just so you don’t think I don’t. But, let’s be honest here. If your driver is with your family on daily basis and he is not attacking you or your child in any way, then I am sorry, but the fault is with the dog. You must get rid of him ASAP. As for the driver – yes, hospital run will be a must and a handsome tip + a very sincere apology. Some breeds or mixed breeds are very territorial. Maybe yours is too and he has never accepted the driver in his territory and never will. That may escalate to other people, including your child. Don’t take that risk. I know for pet owners their pets are like children, me included, but your human family has to be first and other humans around that are not threatening you should too. Sorry  You can approach lots of organizations here in Dubai and UAE to re-home your dog with a single person or a family without kids, maids, etc.

oh, after some time everything starts to look a little better, just a little.... woke up this morning with a good feeling and even it is Sunday it is also Easter :) me and the small one painted on Fri and had fun... generally I was looking forward to the Ester Sunday. then the husband decided that he is not in the mood and we had ourselves a small aaaaa & uuuuuu.... and maybe you will say it is stupid, but every morning he is dropping me at work and we part with a kiss. this for 6 years now. i like to start my day this way :) this morning it took him a few seconds to decide to kiss me and the kiss was just by the way.... :((((( felt so bad and so angry as i came on for the kiss... why is it that when you are happy something has to spoil it? now i am not into Easter or any celebrations, i don't care about the food and the cake and the eggs... lunch time he called me to remind me that we need to go there and do that today.... no sorry, no nothing, normal conversation :( i know you will say its not a big deal, but we do not talk to each other like that and we do not fight, so this is really out of the ordinary and at worst time possible. and i do not complain :) i deal with my things myself. for some reason this time is different and i feel so low. thanks for listening :)

Got two dogs and three cats of our own, but....... I have a Mr GE and that would make a lovely holiday for me. If only ;) you send Mr GE or you go and leave Mr GE? I need cat sitters for Eid + 1 week if you are interested. If you had one I could help but 3 is too much :-( Are you looking for full time or just 2 times per day visit?

Just imagine how great and responsible parents and grandparents it will have... and what great person he/she will become after all the great advice from her family..... o, and how easy everything will be in school.... and I am sorry - they love each other?! I think we all remember how long were all our commitments at that age.

I have on my terrace for 2 years now. No complaints. Changed color a bit, but otherwise still very much ok. I have a small kid and a cat, so despite their destruction it is still nice :) I took the one with the thicker base and I am glad I did. It is kinda bumpy and it keeps just enough space for the water to drain and the grass dries very quickly. If you are looking to buy from Dragon Mart just go around as the price may vary from place to place. If you are putting it in your garden please check the base - that thing you will put under the grass. As funny as it sounds artificial grass can be very hard if not with a proper base. (Some time back I was working with a Dutch suppliers of grass :) ) Hope this helps and good luck.

hi scot42, yes, the cost in Dubai as off this month is: - medical if wanted to be done in a day and in appropriate environment is 750 - visa stamp is 300 - change of status - this is so you don't have to leave the country, is 600 - your pink visa - the first step of the visa issue - is 900 - emirates ID for 2 years is 270 all the above is actually more that 1500, but for kids there is no medical and if you go for the normal service it will cost 290. this month they do not insist for the insurance, but for the next one i can't say :( just one question - doesn't your husband have family status? if yes, then all the above should be covered by his company or more of it...

hi there. sorry to say, but once in contact with humans the baby will be deserted by the parents. u can feed it with bread dipped in water so it is soft. i am afraid that chances are 50/50 for its survival. kittycat71 has done the right thing. the vet will be able to care for it better. :)

first, Congrats :) don't worry, everything will be just fine :) Yes, Daman is not so good. In this case i suggest you take one of the hospitals packages. it will contain the cost and most cover all necessary tests. you should discuss it with the doctor. i am sorry, i am not familiar with City hospital doctors, but can recommend the 2 ladies in Belhoul European. hope this helps a bit :)

While I don't agree with the actions of DP, there is something not quite right about this story. If you were facing a financial crisis, why would you put the dogs into kennels paying 700aed a week for them? By downgrading to an apartment to save money, and then paying that each week, there was no saving made by moving. Why move to an apartment where you can't take your dogs? There are plenty of apartments where you can keep dogs. Why not give them to friends to keep for a while til you're back on your feet. This is a business not a charity and they can't be expected to keep dogs at great expense because the owners are too broke to look after them. The couple should have given them to an animal charity rather than a kennels, because at that point, they are under the kennels' jurisdiction. There are thousands of cases of people abandoning their pets in kennels (I know this as several have been clients of mine) and then leaving for the summer / for good without paying up. Hence they use this as a threat to those who don't pay. I do feel for them but ultimately they were responsible for their pets and should have approached a charity rather than a business to help them solve their problems. I agree, something is not fitting into the puzzle....

I would recommend not to hold. Kids like school at that age and it will be lots of fun. My small one is the smallest and loves it. Being around bigger kids makes them learn faster also. Have in mind also that FS is a lot like nursery - lots of play, drawing, etc. They just have better time management - what time to eat, what time to play, etc.

If I am not mistaken BUPA covers it in any case, but they are expensive. Most hospitals have packages for maternity on not so bad price.
