I used to think it would be awkward until I recently started going by myself. Let me tell you that it is far from awkward and as ROSIE said no one can tell you're alone anyway. I quite enjoy it and also quite enjoy the ability to choose whatever movie I want to see instead of having to agree on a movie with others. Go for it!

I have recommended it on here before ( I promise I don't work for them :) ) but Salmontini in MOE is my go-to sushi place. The sushi is just gorgeous and always fresh. The even have a deal every Monday where you can have all the sushi you can eat for AED 195. But do they have home delivery? Unfortunately, they do not :(

Hi marykar, If you want to use the entertainer, you will have to go for the non-resident rate as you cannot use two offers simultaneously. This is what they told me when I called to ask. edited by ItsAllAboutTheSugar on 12/10/2014

The food is excellent and such a massive choice - but apparently the drinks are charged on top of the food, upon consumption. But check with them As I understand, the package only includes non-alcoholic beverages but I have never asked as we do not drink.

Hi JC, Kitchen 6 is one of my favorite brunch spots in Dubai :) They have a large spread of good food from several different cuisisnes. You should definitely give it a try. Book ahead as it tends to be fill up fairly quickly.

These blondies sound heavenly! Would love to try but raspberries are so expensive here at 22-26 dhs for a tiny pack. Any idea if they can be bought at a cheaper price ? A family member is allergic to strawberries so that won't work.

There's a few dotted around town, depending on where you live but the ones I know of are at MOE, Springs Centre(Spinneys), Al Wasl Road (same building as Spinneys) and one by the flag on JBR. It's great but can become and expensive addiction! I love Tavola! It is an absolute baker's paradise :) I would love to shop there more frequently but I agree it is not very easy on the wallet :( edited by ItsAllAboutTheSugar on 01/04/2014

Tavola stocks Wilton gel food coloring in all colors. Just add the gel coloring in very tiny amounts using a toothpick as it is much more concentrated than liquid food coloring.

My favorite sushi place in Dubai is Salmontini in MOE. The sushi is just to die for. They have an all you can eat sushi deal every Monday for 195 dhs per person. Expensive, I know but I promise the sushi is worth it! The restaurant overlooks Ski Dubai so you have a nice view, too. edited by ItsAllAboutTheSugar on 22/03/2014

Yes, the beach mall is definitely open as I went there last week. It is a lovely place and definitely worth the visit although not all outlets are open at the moment and there is still construction going on at the far end of the mall. Underground parking is available albeit at a whopping rate of 20 AED/ hour. This is unless you spend 75 dhs(per car) at any of the outlets in which case you get 3 hours free.

You could trying using agar agar which is plant-based rather then animal-based. I have seen recipes online using agar agar but must admit I have never tried using it. I've seen agar agar in Holland and Barrett in Dubai Mall. edited by ItsAllAboutTheSugar on 16/02/2014

Hi Ginnee, I haven't been there in years but the Sharjah Public Library in Sharjah University City is huge and has a large selection of both Arabic and English books as well as a dedicated section for children's books. They even have an online catalog so you can search for the books you may be interested in to see if they have them. Here is the [url=http://www.shjlib.gov.ae/en/'>link[/url'> to their website. ETA: Looks like the library was moved to a new building at the Cultural Square in Sharjah. edited by ItsAllAboutTheSugar on 15/02/2014

Hi MrsDB, If the mixture is still liquid, pour it into a blender and add some gelatin that has been dissolved in some hot water and blend it very well. Generally, every sachet of gelatin sets 500 ml of liquid. Then pour the mixture back into tin and place it in the freezer for 30 minutes to speed up the process and then put it back in the fridge. edited by ItsAllAboutTheSugar on 13/02/2014

I second bamboo lagoon. Their food is very good and they have a Polynesian band playing every now and then during the night. They have packages starting from 250 per person (non-alcoholic)and that includes 3 restaurants. Highly recommended and a very good deal especially if you have entertainer vouchers.

Yum!Moghrabieh is one of my all-time favorite dishes. Here is a [url=http://shahiya.com/english/recipes/moghrabieh-989'>link[/url'>[ to the traditional Lebanese way of cooking Moghrabieh. The mouth-watering chicken, the delicious sweet onions, and the caraway flavor are what makes this dish. This recipe is the closest to what my mom makes except she only uses caraway and cinnamon- no cumin or pepper.

Thanks all! Michamen - I heard the JA villas were still a bit mank despite the face lift. JBR - I wouldn't mind but DH hates JBR due to the traffic, especially with the tram roadworks. He went to get me a takeaway the other week (had serious craving) and he was stuck in traffic for 1hr40 in JBR Tats - DH went to look at those villas and they are huge but quite out of the way I think our best bet is Motor City. [b'>Does anyone live in Masakin Al Furjan (the apartments)? [/b'> I do love the Ranches but not sure how big the 2 beds are and if anyone lives there with 2 kids + maid (one of kids will be very small lol!) I know someone who lives in a 3 bed + maid ground floor apartment with a garden. The apartment is spacious with decent-sized bedrooms and a large living/dining area. The kitchen is a bit on the small side though. It is really a lovely place to live and the communal areas with the park, swimming pool, and gym are really nice. edited by ItsAllAboutTheSugar on 01/10/2013

Not in Dubai but if you're willing to travel to sharjah, the Arabian Wildlife Center is really cool. It's an indoor zoo featuring animals native to this region. The best part is that it is air conditioned so perfect for this weather. Entry is cheap,15 dirhams per adult and free for children under 12! There's also a children's farm (petting zoo) within the complex but it is outdoor and may be too hot at this time of the year. [url=http://www.sharjahtourism.ae/en/heritage/museums/arabias-wildlife-centre'>link[/url'> There's also the Discovery Center in Sharjah , which is a science museum. Entry is really cheap at 10 dirhams per adult and 5 dirhams per child. 1) Chop it up into thin-ish slices. 2) Soak it in water for atleast 2 hours, changing the water a few times in the process. This is to leach out all the salt at akkawi tends to be very salty. 3) Drain it very well and then crumble it.

The easiest way to make it at home is to buy the pancakes ready made from a bakery. The best tasting ones are from the Mukhtar bakery in Sharjah. You can then stuff them with akkawi cheese or walnuts and bake them. Serve the syrup on the side. ETA : The walnut filling is a mixture of coarsely chopped walnuts, sugar, and orange blossom water. For the cheese filling buy akkawi cheese , slice it up , and soak it in water for a few hours occasionally draining and re-filling the bowl with water in order to get rid of the salt in the cheese edited by ItsAllAboutTheSugar on 21/07/2013 edited by ItsAllAboutTheSugar on 21/07/2013
