I dont know much about IMPZ but i had been doing some research on skycourts. Also my husbands freind owns a flat over there. The size and view is great and so is the maintinance which has now improved but I did read on the skycourts facebook forum that dewa bills and alpha bills (the company that provides cooling) combined are quite high over there...something worth looking into

Hello WizzyD, Not a fellow american here but hope I can be of help with this information. I have very little information about Iran but recently have been following a travel blog by 2 backpackers... one an american woman and a norwegian man ( I believe they are not married) who are currently traveling through Asia. They went to Iran and then entered Pakistan and have documented everything in their blog. I think they are currently in Uzbekistan but they do interact quite alot with the followers. Maybe you can look up some info there and ask them. Also another backpacker from the Uk who travelled extensively in Iran and is currently in travelling in Pakistan. Both blogs speak highly of Iran and even more so about Pakistan ( im biased :P) The blog names are Lost with purpose ( instagram and facebook) The other one is The Broke Backpacker HTH

Honestly its not the slum its made out to be. Yes pls do stay away from all the clusters since they don't have a policy on limiting sharing and too many bachelors live in sharing accommodations. The CBD buildings that are all along the main road are safe and quite nice. Its safe to go about a stroll. Believe me alot of families live in the area .There are alot of supermarkets and restaurants that deliver right to your door step. If you need more information drop me an email on lilypad848 at gmail dot com. cheers

Hi lilypad, I bought a pizza stone about 2 months ago , the pizza peel I bought at crate and barrel in midriff city centre, sorry I cant remember how much it was but I bought the metal one, I thought the wooden one was a bit thick and heavy. I put the stone in the oven and let it heat slowly, I have not seasoned it and our pizzas are fab! I sprinkle a good handful of flour on the pizza peel before laying on the dough ( I call mine ' the snow shovel' ) Have fun ! thanks for replying dollybird. Il have a look in crate barrel , Hopefully it will not be too expensive . Do you mind sharing your pizza dough recipe pls. I don't want to screw up the first time I try the stone and doom it as a failure :)

Thanks beebers.... i did try the gentle warm compress this morning and will continue this till i know what it is. Trying to remain positive. will be going to the doctor withing half an hour. Fingers crossed it nothing to worry about. ETA: All you ladies have been wonderful and really helpful. I did not mean that anyone was trying to diagnose. I needed help and support and information from anyone who might have more experience in this regard. And that is what was given. edited by lilypad28 on 13/04/2015

Thankyou ladies. I know a forum is a not a place to diagnose a disease, Just needed support from ladies who have a bit more experience with this and how to deal with it. I have just scheduled another appointment with the doctor and hopefully things will be clearer in a few days. For some reason im more anxious and scared than ever before.

Thank you nomad and littleone... i was at the hospital for the scheduled scans... my first scan was a ultrasound of the uterus... while the radiologost waa doing the scan i asked her about her opinion rregarding me ggetting the. mammogram... she askes me about my age.. i told her im 30 ... well she immediately suggested that i do not get the mammogram done and instead get an ultrasound done... if god forbid something shows up in that then I can get a mammogram done... basically she said that at my age the mammogram would not show much and getting an ultrasound was a better and safer option... I immediately ccancelled the mammogram appointment and will be seeing the doctor for a breast ultrasound aappointment... i really hope i have done the right thing. while the lump seems to be reducing in size day by day its still a cause of concern and i hope going for the ultrasound instead of the mammogram isnt the wrong decision to make

First off, dont believe everything you read on the internet but if you are really concerned about radiation then I would suggest you discuss with your doctor other options. Ultrasound is also an alternative. If you have a lump get it checked. I worked in an x-ray department when I was much younger and the technicians would always explain to me that a mammogram was a challenging x-ray because you were making something round into a flat shape. It doesnt hurt, it is just uncomfortable. If the lump is high up nearer your neck then they may have to do an ultrasound if they cant get enough tissue to do the x-ray. I have a mammogram and ultrasound annually and have since my early 30's because my Mum had breast cancer. I would rather put up with the few minutes of uncomfortableness than go through the treatment my Mum went through. edited by littleone on 12/04/2015 Thankyou for your reply. Im just thinking since the size has reduced to almost half within 3 days that it just might be cystic acne (which iv had before . very rarely..but never on the breast) Does a breast ultrasound give the same result as a mammogram?

I need to confirm this from the pharmacy itself before I go looking for a doctor who would be willing to manage my thyroid using NDT and prescribe it :)

Hi , I was diagnosed with Hashimotos an year ago. Since then I have heard so many patients do much better on NDT but doctors simply do not prescribe it. Will be helpful to know if any one is taking NDT for their underactive thyroid and had much better results than levothyroxin. Also is there any place in dubai where you can get halal NDT.

First my prayers and thoughts for those innocent children and countless other victims in the evil that occurred today. I read that they are desperate for blood donations. Is anyone on here aware of anywhere that is doing any type of blood drive? We called a few hospitals and the embassy to no avail. I know it's a long shot to further find information but it is so worth the try to help. Logistically I was told the flight time is short enough to bring in ( I'm not in the medical field and have no knowledge ) so I thought maybe somewhere in Dubai there was a way to help Blondie007 I may not be able to answer your original question but your post has brought me to tears. Iv been watching the news since morning and and trying to hold up watching the death toll rise by the minute..they were all innocent children murdered in cold blood . Thankyou for showing such compassion in a world where Pakistani's get such a bad name when we are victims of the most terrible form of terrorism ourselves. God bless you

Hi I have a Boba 3g carrier for sale if you are interested. We bought it from 490 AED. The child can be taken on the front and the back aswell...However it is not front facing since that can be harmful for the baby's hips. If you do a search on the internet you might find more info on this. We only bought it for a recent holiday trip and was only used once.

I was going to buy the steam mop but while on a trip to carrefour , found the Rubbermaid. Its basically like a steam mop but without the steam ofcourse and quite cheap aswell... comes with a washable microfiber pad. It mounts a spray bottle on top in which you mix up water and disinfectant and you can mop away. I find its much cleaner and easier to use than a regular mop and bucket. Loads of videos on youtube if you want to have a look at how it works

The terms were for around 25 destinations. While the offer was attractive didn't quite buy in to it. There must have been something more to it. The sales person claimed otherwise. You just buy the deal ., register within the specified time period and you can fly within 10 months. Sounded too good to be true TBH

I have a Tefal pressure cooker and its very very good, prestige doesn't quite compare to it. Its the basic model and not the clipso version which is quite pricey. I got it for 270 aed I believe. They sometimes have offers on it since my sister also bought the same from carrefour when it had some kind of offer going on it so basically she got 2 pressure cookers for the price of one. A smaller pot and bigger one with one pressure cooker lid. Quite handy since the smaller pan is used more

Thanks ladies. The fare difference between EK and Cathay Pacific is around 3000 aed which isn't much that much for a such a long haul flight, so in flight comfort and reaching the destination without too much trouble from DD will our first priority. Arlette since the plane does stop in Australia for around 2 hours for refueling im guessing one will have to stay in the plane for 2 hours? Im considering taking the option of changing planes which will let us walk around a bit to strtech our legs and let DD run around a bit so she could tire her self our for the rest of the 3 hours to Auckland. Your thoughts on this please?

Thankyou for your input. Would you suggest a 2 hrs transit in Australia be a better way to go, just to get out of the plane and stretch our legs or the "non-stop" option would be better? The plane does stop in all cases in Australia but i guess its probably only for refueling, so you either fly "non stop" or stay at the airport for a few hours and change planes. Unfortunately for us its a morning flight at 10 am. The only night flight I saw wasn't using the A380.

So this will be the first time we will be travelling on such a long haul flight and am positively nervous since we will be travelling with a toddler. I was wondering if ladies who have done this can give me some advice on which flight we should choose. We can either fly emirates which is virtually non stop for 19 hrs with only a brief stop over in Australia, Emirates fly's the A380 (although i don't know if that makes any difference or not), or we can fly Cathay Pacific which is around 8 hours from Dubai to Hong Kong , stop over there for around 6 hours and 8 hours on wards to Auckland. Is Emirarats the best option or should we choose the longer transit with cathay pacific for our toddler's sake.

Personally, I wouldn't buy. I suspect these hugely discounted linens are either 1) "factory seconds" that didnt pass the quality control checks that foreign retailers would insist on, or 2) they are "grey market" goods being sold by factory employees who are stealing from the factory they work at. There is a possibility that 3) the factories are simply off-loading onto the local market any excess stock produced. One branch of my relatives and several family friends are in the textile business "back home". I have visited the factory floors, observed the workers' skill, and seen the various linens in their packages ready to be shipped to Target, IKEA, Bed Bath and Beyond, etc. Unless you can prove that the "lovely shop back home" sources its goods via scenario #3, then it is a business based on stealing, and shame on you for participating. wow, shaming and assuming that these bed linens are being stolen is entirely ridiculous and presumptions. These bed linens, curtains etc are export rejects from what the shop keepers tell us. For what reason they have been rejected I obviously cant tell since I have never found fault in them. Its not just one shop selling these textiles but a whole market of sellers who sell quality local bed linens and loose fabrics, and sometimes a huge pile of these export rejects land on their shelves, which they obviously sell off. They have been doing this for years and years so to assume that all the hard working traders who are trying to make a living out there are thieves is ludicrous to say the least. Many a times these sellers don't even know that the bed linens they are selling are branded since these brands don't exist there. As to why these bed linens and priced so low, well that's the actual price of these bed linens and that's that. Just because big brands like pottery barn sell them for 10 times the cost doesn't make it worth that price. So why should i pay 10 times for the same thing when I have the choice to give my money to small time local trader and buy the same thing for a fraction of the price its sold in the big shops

thanks for the replies ladies. I tried giving it some water through a syringe. It did take a few drops. Finding contradicting info online about not feeding a baby bird bread or giving it water. DH did bring some canary food from the store but I didnt feed it to the brid since I though it needs something soft and moist? Some people mentioned egg yolks and softened up dog food so might try that in the morning. its gone to sleep in its box for now. Will try to feed it in the morning and hopefully able to return it to the nest. Two featherless baby birds fell out of the same nest a few months ago and now another dead baby bird on the balcony. These have feathers though. Fingers crossed this one will survive. I almost cried when I saw the dead bird. Wish i had done something sooner. edited by lilypad28 on 05/07/2014

Used to have trouble finding it when i was on it. Would always go to the small pharmacy just across NMC hospital. They always had stock How can you get it from a pharmacy? It has to be injected by a doctor! Try GMC on Beach Rd, that's where I always used to go. I used to buy it myself and have a nurse inject it. I would of course carry the doctor's prescription for it

Personally, I would award Nobel prize to the one that invented Mirena... I have my second one placed, I've even had birth in between. I have no complications whatsoever. The risk of perforation is the same with all IUDs, but the hormone coat in Mirena does miracles for me. When you survive first couple of months (approx 3) of spot bleeding which might be boring but totlly normal, you don't have to worry about that any more. Sometimes I know when I'd be bleeding, sometimes I don't, but I don't even have other PMS sympthoms. My RBC is within normal now, and I used to be anaemic due to severe menorrhagia. As far as I'm concerned I'll just be replacing them one after another every five years... I recommend it! Thanks veela, have you noticed any weight gain with the coil? i am in desperate need to lose weight since it might lead to diabetes if my weight isnt well with the normal range. Im worried the mirena might hinder weight loss. Do you have any experience regarding this?

Hi Ladies Could you please help! Pregnant with our first and don't know many ladies who have had to deliver in Dubai without insurance, so am turning to you ladies. Has anyone had experience with prenatal check-ups and delivery at Latifa Hospital? Which doctor did you use and how did it all go? Any tips or other hospital recommendations? We are also looking at Dr. Yamini at Zahra hospital. Any advice will be highly appreciated. Thanks Just signed in to say that I wont recommend Latifa, from what I understand it used to be good but the care is not as good as it used to be. The antenatal care I received wasn't really good. Also you cant rely on getting an ultrasound since they are so busy. The ultrasound date I was given was after my delivery date so you can imagine. The staff who book your appointments are really quite abrupt and rude, i would suggest you save your self the stress and go private.
