Hello, I don't want to sound too alarming but it could be a sign of something a bit more serious than just a rash (relating to your liver function). I did experienced this when I was pregnant (not in Dubai though). So you should definitely go to a Dermatologist to have it checked (they might do a blood test). I had other skin related problems here and I saw Dr Muna in Dubai Mall Mediclinic. She was very helpful. The cost of the first consultation is 500Dh and the follow up consultations are 300Dh. All the best and congratulations for Baby to come!'

they got married, had lots of children and lived happily ever after ? that's too much of a fairy tale and too simplistic? I would give it a twist and let the reader choose what he/she thinks would become of her (if that makes sense) ?

My younger brother was diagnose with this when he was 10 years old (quite late) : unfortunately it took a long time to get the right diagnostic (incompetent GP, and my brother tried to "hide" his symptoms for as long as he could- this meant until he was limping very badly). So he had to have a more drastic treatment: surgeries + cast on both legs from hips to ankles for many many months. the hole treatment lasted 2 years, but it was mainly because the bones were already quite damaged! he had to have physiotherapy for several month to regain muscles in his legs. He is now the tallest and the fittest of my 4 brothers (when he was in a wheelchair he developed the muscles in his upperbody) I am not telling you all this to alarm you, if your DS has been diagnosed early, he will not have to go through the same treatment. As I said, early diagnostic makes a big difference! I wish you strength and all the best for the future.

Hi there! A few years ago, we stayed at a Marina near Roermond (Marina Oolderhususke). It is not a costal area but the villas are located in the marina (some of them are classed as floating villas). It is a very family friendly place with a relax atmosphere and so near to Roermond Centre with all the cafes and restaurants. We really enjoyed staying there. http://www.oolderhuuske.nl/ HTH, :)

Hi, I lived in North of France most all my life and I agree with WhiteOrchid, however there is one major element to living in France/Lille: the language! If you don't speak French, I would not recommend you live there. Despite the fact that now Lille is a popular destination for British tourist (with the Eurostar) and there is a growing community of British expats, you still need to speak French for your everyday needs as French people wont make the effort to understand you.

it is working (I have the page open right now), but it is verrrryyy slow and not very pratical: to see the timetable you have to scroll down a bit and let all the pictures download.... It is a very slow website for a company organizing races ;)

Hi, Maybe you should take a few or a couple of hours of lessons with a driving institute? I know it is not free but I don't think you will find anybody willing to let you drive their car as you are under 25 and may be holding a license for less than a year as their insurance wont generally cover young drivers.

Hi Thaiger, I know that the last thing you want to worry about when you are going through health problems is chasing insurance companies and filing paperwork! Last time they did the "Dubai" on me, I called their office in Paris: they were VERY helpful and could not understand why the problem occurred in the first place: the reimbursement was "magically" transferred in our account the next day. Maybe you should give them a call and tell them that you can not get a straight answer from their office in Dubai. Although they don't officially deal with cases from the UAE, I am sure you get a better service from their end as they will investigate and escalate the problem. All the best for your surgery!

How about opening a "savings account"? : You can open it with a tourist visa and you get a debit card. You can also have online banking so you can access it and make payment when you are abroad. it is called a "savings account" because you can not have any check book or credit card.

Hi, We are insured with MSH international through my DH's company. The cover is good, except for optic (350 euros/year/person) and dentist. However, I had to chase up some reimbursement a few times, as my claims were still not processed after 4 weeks!

Thank you for your opinions Ladies, It comforts my decision and I have made an appointment to meet the teacher tomorrow. The question was about the lesson they were studying at the time. My DS could not remember the specific word (I cannot say here what subject it was), and that's when the teacher called him idiot. I think that some teachers forget too easily that for many children English is not their first language and it can be very hard for them sometimes. I also had my share of bad/bullying teachers when I was younger and I know it can make a huge difference to the way a child perceives school and it does undermine their self confidence (and their grades). it is an important academic subject and I know that he used to enjoy and really be interested in it. I just hope that the teacher's behavior wont put him off for good. So I will "have a chat" with the said teacher (I will stay calm and polite) and make it clear that it should not happen again. I will keep you updated (unless I lose it and so tomorrow you can read in the headlines "crazy mum attacks teacher") :)

I was shouted at in school once. I was being rude, disruptive and obnoxious Perhaps this is the case? Maybe your son is misbehaving No, according to his last school report, my son has no behavioral issues. He is very respectful of his teachers. The comment made by the teacher was made after he failed to answer a question, so it is not linked to his behavior. My son also told me that he is not the only one in his class who has been called "idiot", and when one of the student challenged him he got detention.

Hi Celesti, Really sorry about your situation! But don't forget, maybe the teacher has told your husband that she has spoken to you. So he may already be expecting some sort of reaction from you? Whatever route you decide to take, just take the time to consider all the implications. Hope you will get through this awful time and stay strong.

Hi Jo, I have read your post and felt compelled by your story. First, I want to say that it was very responsible of you to drop university to support your family. I am really impressed that you have gone through so much already and managed to cope with all your losses as such a young age. We all had bad things happening through our lives: sometimes life takes and sometimes life gives. I know this sounds so cliché but it is true. Many of us on this forum would agree that we all hit some bad turns at one point in our lives: but you have to find the courage and take it one day at a time. It will get better, and you seem to have the right attitude to overcome this sad period of your life. Regarding the car accident, I can relate to that too. I was involved in a one about 15 years ago: I was in a taxi and when we went through the green light, we got hit by an other car who went through the red light. I did not have any major trauma but it took me months to get back in a car and every time we would be at a traffic light I would just cringe, panic and put my foot to the floor as if I wanted to stop the car (I was the passenger). I have to say that even to this day I still look carefully before driving through a traffic light: I guess life can teach you some lessons that sometimes you never forget! But my advice is to get back to driving: the more you wait the harder it will be. Don't lose hope, you are still very young (it makes me sound so old to say this !) and I am sure there will be plenty of good things coming your way !

It is suggested not to swallow but I have to say that my last time I gave some to my DS he swallowed it. I do not think it is harmful : it doesn't make sense to come up with a medicine that you have to spray in your kid's throat and ask them to spit it when you know that most younger kids are bound to swallow (a bit like when you first teach your kids to brush their teeth). The only other option would be the old remedy: warm milk and honey ? I am sorry I do not know any other option: I have to say it is very difficult to find over-the-counter medicine for children here.

Hi Corinnad, I use Chloraseptic Spray for sore throat: it is for children aged 3 and up. It comes in 3 flavors: Cherry, Orange and Grapes. You can find it in most pharmacies. It is quite effective, but if the sore throat last maybe you will need to take her to the doc. Hope she will feel better very soon!

Looks like it's going to be construction's havoc everywhere in Dubai for the next 6 years: http://www.emirates247.com/expo-2020-watch-out-for-these-mega-developments-in-dubai-2013-12-03-1.529975 On the other hand, there will be plenty of work for people in the construction industry and Dubai will definitely look so much different than it is now!

I've never been comfortable about my son's gait since he was little and have asked several doctors, an osteopath and podiatrist for their opinions over the years, all of whom assured me there was no problem. He's now 13 and I'm still concerned, as he has an unusual run and sometimes complains of discomfort in his knees or hip. Has anyone had gait analysis done by a medical professional in Dubai? Was it helpful? Any recommendations for professionals who might diagnose the issue? Thanks for your help. Hi Frazzled, I know this is an old post but I was wondering is you manage to find a specialist who answered your questions? could you recommend anybody (orthopedic surgeon, specialist) as I am also a bit concerned about my son's gait. Thank you!

Hello Harrimayne! Maybe you should check with the school first: my son's school used to have a "preferred" bank. But unfortunately for many parents, they just announced recently that from now on they do not accept credit card any more as mean of payment for fees (keeping in mind that the 2nd term tuition fees are due by the 15th nov. and the info was given a week ago) I thought they couldn't ask for fees before the first day of term ? The parents were informed last week by letter (6th nov.), and the 2term fees are due for the 15th Nov as mentioned on the school calendar. TBH, we haven't received an official letter/invoice explicitly stating "term 2 tuition fees" but the "payment update" letter and the school calendar is an effective way to ask for the fees.

I have recently tried Chanel Mat Lumiere : I love it! I have combination skin but it does not feel dry on my cheeks (dry area) and it looks so natural. it blends so well and is very light. I don't like when foundation is too thick and "visible" the coverage is buildable but for me 1 "coat" is enough. I haven't tried the Perfection Lumiere as I wanted a bit more coverage, but when I tested it on my skin it really felt nice too! I really recommend it, although it is quite pricey. PS: I don't work for Chanel (I wish I did) !

Good Morning Ladies, This morning on my way to work I had the very unpleasant surprise to see that my black shinny car had been intentionally scratched with a key all along the right 2 doors ! The thing is , I complained to Security last night about some noise coming from a party/bbq at 11:00 and as a coincidence my car was damaged on the same night! What do you think I should do? I have contacted the Security (Emaar) but they do not have CCTV in the car park! what about my insurance: do I need to file a police report? Thank for your help, as I am fuming right now and need to clarify my thoughts befor taking any action.
