Formarke school would probably be the closest equivalent to a small English prep school.

Hi yankeedoodle, I am selling 2 tickets for Thursday night, men's quarter-finals. They are AED 400 each. I bought 4 but only need two. Let me know if you are interested. Should be a good night with Federer, Murray, Wawrinka all likely to be playing. Hi fluffy frank, are your tickets still available? TIA

Lots of places don't have 11+ - Kent does, Sussex doesn't, Hampshire doesn't, Surrey doesn't, Essex and Buckinghamshire you do. Surrey has grammar schools in both the Kingston and Sutton boroughs.

The picture framing shop next to park and shop in the Safa centre would also be able to do this (may be easier - depending on where you live).

http://whichschooladvisor.com/news/hartland-international-new-school-set-2015/ Prof. Ralph Tabberer, who previously held the post of Director General of Schools in the UK Government, has also closely collaborated and been instrumental in the planning process of the school. Himself an ex-employee of GEMS!

I've had ties and bow ties copied at a tailor in Satwa, on the main road opposite the petrol station. I cant remember the name of it but it is very popular and has a very distinctive oak wooden door, so someone else may come up with the name. Take examples for them to copy and the only problem I had last time was that they couldn't get one of the clasps for a tie yourself adjustable bowtie, so they used the one from the example I had brought to be copied. The golden tulip has been taken over by atana and is now called the atana khasab. The new (dry) hotel is situated by the lulu supermarket in the harbor area and is called the atana musandam. Hope that clears up any confusion. ?

Why not suggest she has a 'gathering ' at your place, that way you get to meet her friends, whilst controlling the situation (albeit subtly), that way you can gauge how responsible or not the people she is hanging out with are. It is not unusual for the police to be called to rowdy unsupervised teenage parties, which usually involve a delivery from the milkman. Convince her there is now way she wants to spend any time at Bur Dubai Police station - which is what will happen. Good luck with the teenage years!

If you're a keen cook I'd bring out vanilla extract and wine vinegars which are not easily available here. Dried yeast is stocked in most supermarkets but not always the shelf you'd expect! ?

Thanks for replies everyone. I am aware of the salaries that can be achieved for these nannies working privately for families, I am also aware that not all of them are salary driven - many go and nanny in ski resorts and summer destinations where they earn less but have different experiences. I am interested to know if there are any newly qualifieds ( perhaps living with their parents) working out here - not wanting a family job or perhaps returners working part time or even owners/managers here with a Norland/Chiltern training. If there are any non-working Norland/Chiltern Mummies here you could also probably help me with the advice I need. TIA

last week I was politely told by a female security guard at marina mall (of all malls) that there was a dress code and handed a leaflet with advice. fortunately I had a shrug with which to cover up and she thanked me for doing so. - Sign of things to come I expect.
