I find the NailSpa the most professional and consistent throughout their branches. The nail spa is high end but very professional place. Highly recommend

There are few salons offering wash and cut in that range. De La Mer in jumeirah 3 (170 Dhs for cut) Essential salon al wasl road (180 Dhs for a cut) Cut above in jumeirah center (200 Dhs for a cut)

Aliza, formerly of Beauty Plus is your 'go to' lady for any kind of treatment like this. She does hair botox, keratin treatments, brazilian blowouts, rebonding and she's excellent. I second this. She is best in what she does. Never had a prob.

But there are salons charging 500-1000 for similar treatments. I don't get the difference. I am having troubles managing my hair and budget is really tight. ☹️ Try one of these cheap salons... You will end up paying to dermatologist to fix **** up they do to your scalp. I had my hair scalp burnt and got massive hairfall after a treatment in a salon which is not so cheap but the staff was not trained well. When it comes to such treatments better chose a professional who knows what she is doing.

She was going away for about 8 weeks. She had a product sampling trip to Japan booked, then vacation. She should be back anytime soon. She was training people to work in the salon in her absence. Have you tried whatsapping her? Thank you Fairydust. Oh that's a relief to know  I sent her sms and calls only.... Did not whatsapp. Will do that now. I don't want trainees on my hair I will rather wait for her to come back than trying a new person. :(

existing tenants have a bit more room to negotiate than newer tenants... coz at our compound we now pay in 4 cheques They can't negotiate because they signed for one cheque payment. Contract can't be changed :(

Hi ladies! Anyone have experience with a dry and sensitive scalp? It seems any shampoo I use (even the expensive ones) gives me dandruff. The weird part is my scalp is dry but within a day of washing my hair gets oily.. WHAT DO I DOOOOOOOOO? Is it because of some hair treatment you did ? I have heard such issues after keratin treatments. Only a dermatologist can help you in that case. For oily scalp, may be try a dry shampoo?

As far as I know, to get the emergency document / replacement passport to leave the country they need to get a police report and also approach immigration to cancel their visa before leaving. So if the ban is placed on their current passport and visa it should be flagged before they got the emergency papers. Chrissy23 is spot on. You can't apply for second passport or emergency document without police report. When you there... Definitely you know what will happen.

I don't think so it's worth complaining and wasting your time... Nothing will happen. I will say, suck t up and look for some good and ethical dentist. Who won't lie or take responsibility for their work.

I can highly recommend DR.Anu at Noa clinic Mankhool road. I went to see her after being disappointed with other dentists who are highly recommended here. She was amazing from dirt appointment until I got my crown fixed. I paid 1300 for root canal and additional 1000 for crown. No issues whatever so ever until now ?

Wow, thanks for great help. Seems like I should extend my holidays to a 3 or 4 weeks. I know US is so big and we cannot visit all the places, but I would like to make most of my time. I can also go again next year for an other trip. Now keeping in mind, if I have 3-4 weeks, which states/cities would be great to visit in say October ?

Hehe. Glad you know now what wet cut is. Save your self 100++ Dhs for not doing blow dry. To be honest, I find it rip off to charge double just to give a blow dry with a cut. Many salons don't offer cut without blow dry and that's weird. Or it's just a Dubai thing. ? I also find less famous salon's hairdressers are more humble if you compare them with famous & arrogant hair stylists.

Don't have a recommendation for a dentist, but if you use a mix of baking soda and water (i mix it with lemon juice as well sometimes) twice a week, it will whiten your teeth. Wow, good tip !!! Does it also fade away yellowish stains?

hello ladies, are there any good suggestions for a hair cut salon (preferably near DIFC :D ) This is my first try in dxb.. any good, not so very expensive salon recommendations please:) If you dont mind driving to Jumeirah then Soni and Vicky @ Cut Above are good hairdressers. Wet cut costs around 180 Dhs with them. Essential Salon near Park n Shop also used to have good hairdresser & same charges. sLaM has good hairdresser but its over rated. I will never pay more than 200 Dhs for a haircut. There are plenty of salons charging under 200 Dhs and doing a great job. I have been to both cut above and Essential and they were both close to 300 dhs for a cut and blowdry, Essential was 295 dhs to be precise. Cut above I think I paid 250 dhs. Are you having cut without blowdry? Yes silvstet, I normally go for cut only without blow dry. I find it useless to get it blow dried as I like to see movements and layers without blowdrying. A good cut should look good without Any extra effort. I specifically mentioned wet cut because many salons don't offer "wet cut only" , instead They offer Cut+Blow dry.... That comes to around 300+ Dhs Sorry for not making it clear. ?

Thanks for the recommendations. I am also new and need all these info. Can anyone recommend a good place for anti frizz treatment like keratin or blowout ? Most of the places coming in Google search or expat woman recommendations are very Expensive. Starting from 1500 Dhs ? Can anyone please recommend a place with reasonable price and good results?. I am not looking for groupon like deals. Thank you. For this, I can highly recommend Aliza @Beauty Plus salon in Satwa (you can google for contact details). She does all kind of hair treatments and price range is normally around 800-1000 Dhs for medium hair. Try to bargain with her as much as you can ?. She is excellent in her work and not expensive at all.

I felt same when my work life became monotonous. Have some time off from work. Think of adopting a pet, go for some make over, join some yoga or language classes. After changing your routine a bit, if you still feel the same- its surely time to leave Dubai. :-) Life is continuous battle, not only here but everywhere. I hope you feel better soon

Hi @ Bebeers, A negative update about my recommended clinic. I was noticing a long ( 1 inches long and .25 inch wide) stretch mark on my laser done area- although it was not very prominent and only thing I thought could cause it, was it self laser treatment as I am not doing anything else on my face. When I went for my last appointment, I discussed it's with the technician and she said it could not be laser...but when I argued, she said it could be sun damage after laser...may be I did not wear sun screen as advised. Anyway, I couldn't do anything about it......now one week after that last session, I notice a new small stretch mark ....I never had it before and a sure its because ofmlazer now. Its useless to go and argue with those ladies as they won't do a **** about it. I just wanted to inform all using this clinic, be very careful...... I would probably take my recommendation off. DONT GO FOR IT !!!!

I bought one from souq.com , it was cheaper than most of shops and websites. If you trust online shopping google search will save you time and money. Rose717 Did you pay cash on delivery like it states on the website? Actually I paid through my credit card. Although, I think sometimes they have option of cash on delivery. Btw, I checked this website some poster mentioned, hot shot deals.....they are selling it for 119 AED, I can't believe it could be that cheap, if it is....i would doubt authenticity. May be this one would be fake just like other things. From souq at least I trusted, it won't be fake.

Only downside is, you need to book appointments really well in advance. ETA: getting laser done at Montreal clinic.....not the Dr.Rustam. edited by rose717 on 06/01/2015

I use Paypal alot for US sites and I'm here in the UAE. I just used my debit card details while making the account, and have had no problems with my purchases. Only issue is Paypal gives a crappy conversion rate from dollars, about 3.8 instead of 3.65. P.S. I just saw you were asking about a merchant account, I would guess they would give you a crappy rate somehow too! edited by sourskittleashnut on 04/01/2015 Lolz @Sourskittleashnut. They give very **** rate plus they charge commission on every transaction and every step in transaction. You can say you will get 20% less money than what your client paid. Unfortunately, they don't credit money to UAE accounts so no options except getting money credited to your CC.

Do you live in an apartment or a studio? Are you planning to take the kitty back with you to your home country? Are you able to commit financially to what is involved? Annual vacination? vet bills if the animal gets sick? If you are not able to commit to any of that - how about fostering? You would need to actively try and find forever homes - and be willing to commit to the animal if you couldn't find a home. Hi Izzy, yes I live in studio apartment. Off course I understand the financial responsibility and I can afford that. Definitely wherever I will go my pet will be with me, I just need a kick start because only thing that i fear is hurting an animal due to lack of information on my part. I can take dog to my work place too because I am self employed and, I have helper to take Care of the pet when needed. I have tried to have some friends dog at my place and I loved experience. You can say, I am looking for a companion at my place who doesn't cheat on me....lolz !!!

It seems our mystery OP has a 'regular' interest in hair salons looking at her past threads. Mystery explained, Take it easy Di@dxb. I am sure after this she won't be seen on EW. Yes a studio would be fine for either a cat or a dog,the important thing to remember is that some breeds of dog do need a garden or space to run. Cats on the other hand are more adaptable to being inside only. As you have never had a pet it might be a good idea to foster one first before committing to an animal for the rest of its life. Contact any of the rescue organizations for advice on fostering and/ or adoption and they will walk you through it. All the best. ETA just re read your post, a puppy is the same as taking on a baby and unless you are at home an awful lot of the time don't take on a puppy. edited by Nomad on 04/01/2015 Thank you Nomad for your advice. I think puppy would be out of question because I am very busy in my work. I will definitely check for fostering. When I checked for adoption, most of organization s refused, saying studio is not sufficient for dogs/cats. Any place you recommend to start my search?

Yes Beebers, Yanni is a brilliant stylist, you can check out her FB page and see her work. If you search her name on here too you will find lots of recommendations besides mine. Sorry to hear you got a bad cut yesterday, its horrible when that happens, I had so many disasters before I found her. maybe pop round to Yanni and see if she can fix it for you. Thanks Di@Dxb May be I should try her next time for my cut. How much does she charge for haircut?

Lolz....an other useless advertiser, may be could not manage twin IDs. ;) @Bebeers I agree with you on this, I have been going to some hairdresser for my short hair cut. She used to work in Essential, then moved to SLam and now at Cut & Above, every time she did it different way. I liked the cut first time, went for trim and it was disaster. Gave her two more chances....she failed again. Now I have given up. If one person can't deliver same quality......I have no patience to try new hair dressers. I used to pay 180 AED for cut without blow dry & she increased price afterwards. I am now happy paying 60 AED to a filpina in Bur Dubai for hair trim.

In which bank you have your company account? And what facilities you get from them? I have been told by my bank that, they are going to charge a monthly fee regardless of I maintain minimum average balance or not. Also they have been pushing to buy business insurance, which they call "mandatory" for business's account. I have never had such issues. I would appreciate if someone can give recommendation of bank if they are happy with it.

Does anyone have a merchant account with paypal? If so, how do you get your funds here in the UAE? I don't have a US bank account, nor do I want one. Any suggestions? Thanks. You can get the funds credited to your visa card. Paypal gives a very bad conversion rate but there is no other way to get funds. It normally take 3-6 days for amount to show/credit into your account. Unfortunately you cant get cash in UAE. edited by rose717 on 03/01/2015

Lol, Lola, missed that. That was what they measured at the clinic when I went back. They did an assessment of how many hairs per square inch pre vs. post treatment. I ended up moving and decided I wasn't keen to do it again if it was not permanent. Amanso, I want to believe you, but you keep changing your story on how long he has been your doctor :) Appletiser, have you ever considered an epilator? I bought one for underarms last week, and am really pleased. 100% efficient! It just doesn't work on my legs. Hi Beebers, I can relate to what you are thinking.....I had very very thick hair, waxing, shaving etc never worked, as hair appears very next day. For facial area it was so so bad that I felt like crying sometimes. I know its not permanent but I am happy even to stay hair less for one month and visit clinic once a month. For 300 dhs/6 sessions for chin......that much I will pay at a salon for threading.waxing for same area. I am happy with the price and result both. Hope it helps.....

Hi Ladies, wondering if you can help. I'm looking to get laser removal/reduction on my legs. Epilators don't seem to work on my legs, not willing to go so long between wax sessions, and shaving is a nightmare for me. To add, I know my skin and hair color make me a good candidate, as I had a consultation years ago, however treatment not-so-successful as the lasers 15 years ago weren't as good. I saw there are some offers on Groupon for Montreal Clinic, GSM Medical Centre, and Al Borj Medical Clinic. Current offers range from 1299-1699 for these clinics for 6 sessions on a large area of the body. It is awful tempting. Anyone have feedback from one of these clinics, or know of any other clinics currently doing offers like these? Many thanks! I bought groupon of Montreal clinic for chin area and I am genuinely happy with result. In fact after seeing result for chin area, now I am getting it done on my legs. I have horribly thick and too many hair due to hormonal issues. I also did laser few years back and tried many of clinics hair but, this Montreal one is really good. However I won't go there and pay full price....that would be too much

Timing is the essence. We bought 3 years ago. Prices are up 50% and we saved 3y of renting which is roughly 1M AED. Great. Would we buy today? Difficult to answer. Are we selling? No, because where we live there is limited supply of properties and we made Dubai our home and no way we would go back to Europe/UK given all the problems they face. With respect to comments pointing out the bad quality or robustness of properties in the Emirates Living area, I completely disagree. The villas are rock solid and if properly maintained I cannot see why they shouldn't resist another 20 year. It is all about maintenance and taking care of your property. I also find it very childish that most of the subjects about owning property in Dubai always end up as comparison between Dubai and one's home, which most of the time tends to be the UK. Well, it's another sunny day so off to the beach. ;) Really? You have made Dubai your "home"??? Dubai is home for no one but locals or their families. You are here until you are working and until you retire...there on it wont be your home unless you invest here and run business in your old age or you start arranging "unlimited funds" for your after retirement time....Dubai is definitely not home to anyone who is not "investing" or "working" here.

Cheeky Monkey, I like what you have said. Two people - equal - open your wallet not just your mouth. Equal is equal. I was in charge of money once and it really is a big responsibility when the other person is not a good spender. In this relationship, it seems he is in charge. So if bills do not get paid, OP, maybe OP's family, will come down on him - that he let the family down. Every other thread on here is about how much it costs here now - if he is solely responsible for the family budgeting he could be getting frustrated that you do not simply acknowledge that he is saying no as your daily is on a budget andyo are acting 'psycho' by not being switched on and seeing how expensive the world has become. I again think You have not ready my post completely. I DO share expenses with him (Rent is paid by me) also I buy my own personal stuff (shoes, cloths, bags, travel tickets) only thing he does is bills & grocery. I would understand if he has limited budget but here its not the problem, nowhere I mentioned that we have financial issues. He buys whatever he wants and no matter how expensive those are. Either he thinks I will waste (not consuming what I buy within 2-3 days is what he calls wasting) or I finish too soon (for example chocolates). We don't have money problems but this DICTATION is driving me nuts. I have no idea how to deal with this. I have given idea of keeping a budget, so we both can do grocery whenever is requirement, he doesn't agree. Its not only snacks, its also basic meals. Who ch fish to buy (I hate king fish and tuna, and prefer salmon) he Nevers wants to buy that. I don't know how to handle this. Its very frustrating. You reminded me of my ex, he was exactly same, not only grocery but also cloths, who to meet and to whom I can't, what and how much I can eat (because I am getting fat). I am now glad that ikicked his a@@ on time. The more responsibility you will take, the more parasite he will become...he will suck your blood until the last drop. And once you are in trouble...and its his turn to take responsibility...he would be the first to pack up and fly back. This type of men don't care about wife or children. Take control over things...no matter what he says...BUY it, its your right. Else keep paying for everything until you have...it would be kind of paying a price to keep relationship, and price you know...when you don't pay, you don't get anything. You don't have many other options, sorry. I am a happy Single again woman now....I have control over how much I eat, where I do, where I spend my money & surprisingly I have shed over 10 kilos after leaving that @$$. And no, its not because of stress, its just because I have stopped "emotional eating". Good luck!!!!

I have nothing against descriptive words, and I'm not the over sensitive type. I was just saying you referred to his size twice, and again with an added dig at the end. Sounded kind of mean spirited, just my opinion! What is wrong with saying someone is fat if that is what they are? What is wrong with saying someone is exteremely ignorant, rude, mean spirited, disrespectful and Ill mannered if that is what they are?

Hello all ladies, I want to share my problem and get opinion from you ladies. I am married since 3 years with alittle child. I had some problem of periodic depression before marriage, and post marriage too. After treatments I am now never having issue. Every time I have argue with my husband, he calls me psycho. He never take my complaints seriously, saying because I am pyscho, I am habitual of this. When we go grocery, he does not let me buy things I want (chocolates of my choice etc) saying either those are expensive, or I won't eat (waste) it, I feel helpless. I have kept quiet since long time, these days I feel so bad. I have started working & we share expenses, grocery is entirely his responsibility but I am unable to handle it. I hate it how he doesn't uy me things I want or forces me to take something that he likes. He says if I want to buy something he doesn't approve...I should buy from my pocket. I feel like crying , why don't I have right on his money? What should I do? Hello HAFSA, I preassume that you are from India/Pakistan. It is very common attitude in our countries. Women are told what to eat, where to go and what to wear. Best solution is, do as other wives do. Keep some money separately, and buy what you want from that. That will also hurt his ego........so don't just tell him. Please your self without dismaying others. Good luck

I don't know its only my head or its with the technicians here, they tend to cut nails from side despite the need of it. I feel I have started having ingrowns only after moving to Dubai, and sometimes these ladies cut it so badly that my nail turns blue. I m horrified with the thought of going to any such technicians. Small salon of karam and But Dubai to fancy salons in Jumeirah.....they all do same awful job. Also Hygeine is so poor, I had accidenctly witnessed a technician, who was washing, drying and packing (without even sterilizing) DESPOSIBLE nail tools, it was a famous FANCY salon. I wish I had not bumped into their pantry looking for some water to drink. I would appreciate if someone can suggest, good salon with good standard of hygiene and reasonable prices.

hello ladies, I am now shifted to Dubai near Jafliya. we have only one irani salon in my area and i dont like it. Plz tell me about good parlor where i can do many service in one package. i also want to do smoothening for my hair, do they do it here? Try azza salon and spa, they are in downtown but they send beauticians to your place at the same salon price. last month they had a very good package to do 4 services for 200dhs out of many! I did my mani pedi and 15min neck and shoulder massage and threading for 200dhs! They were professional and hygienic. I liked the service so I thought they deserve a recommendation. you can reach them on 800 2992/ 0558023800 Wow, that seems nice....I will try them sometime. I m not a home service kind of person, I like to sit in salon and actually feel "disconnected" from my surrounding to relax. I still need to find a place for my nails

I got my beautiful xmas tree from Satwa yesterday for 550. Really really pleased as it's big, beautiful, has a slight 2 toned effect and smells great! The shop was fresh flowers if that helps. edited by Mollydxb on 02/12/2014 Great.... Which shop was it? I feel satwa prices have increased too...veggies/fruits are expensive than Spinney's. :(

Hello ladies! I'm looking for recommendations in Dubai of firstly where I can get my teeth whitened (& possibly a Hollywood smile), and secondly where I can trust to have an excellent nose job done? This all sounds incredibly vain - I suppose it is a bit - but I had a bump to my nose a few years ago, and ever since then it has been squint! And the teeth, well we can all use a little help can't we?!! I am obviously a little nervous of these procedures, so I am looking to you dear audience for your thoughts as to where I should go. Many thanks edited by Neytiri on 02/12/2014 If you are here for marketing...thank you so much. We have had so many advertisers in this week really.

Rose717 in the 2 years I used them they never used the same equipment for different clients. Each customer gets their own wrapped set of tools. As far as packages go.....it depends.....massage and moroccan about 110 I think. But you really need to check out their facebook page as they vary. I have noticed the "wrapped" tool set but that doesn't mean it is not used. Its mostly poorly sterilized as far as I have observed, specially the buffer/scrubber which they use to remove dead skin. Its just words of caution, I won't risk my health for this. May be you have been lucky enough to get a new set always???
