Being consistent is important and it takes a lot of patience. I would not give my DD any alternatives and no snacks close to the meal times at all. As she grew up she realized there will be no treats if she wouldn't have her regular meals.

Breastfeeding can come easy to some and can be a real challenge for many. I have seen that unless one has some medical issue, its mostly how committed one is that makes it tougher or easier. Tell you friend not to give up as its absolutely crucial for her child's health!

My own experience, and what I have seen many expats go through... homesickness lasts almost a year, I have seen some leave just cause they are so homesick they dont think its worth it... but those who stick around dont regret it. I think its pretty natural what you are going through, just take the good advice given here and keep trying to make friend and this too shall pass :)

You can use Shea Butter in pure form. Google to see its benefits it supposed to be good for pigmentation and is a natural sun block besides other benefits. I use it as a primer for my base as well and its just perfect. I started using it since any other moisturizer would give me acne so its worked perfectly for me. Shea Butter certainly is NOT a sunblock. It's SPF varies wildly and only ranges from 0-6 and certainly does nothing to block out UV rays, which are the ones that cause the problems. Not recommended. You need a proper facial sunscreen with an SPF of around 30 to be effective. Well I had read that one of its benefit was that it gives protection from the sun, I myself started using it as a moisturizer as anything else would give me acne, and since I hardly ever go out in the sun I never experienced it as a sunblock. However, its said to be good for pigmentation so, other treatments having failed, OP can maybe give it a try!

For goodness sake, no one here knows anything about this incident, the OP came on here to ask for advise on how to deal with the termination of the maid's employment, she gave no more details. None of us have any idea of the seriousness of the issue (but it sounds as though some posters are just dying to know, even though it is none of their business) so please stop trying to dramatise it. Aren't there any good soap operas on TV? But nothing like a reality show... right... ;)

hi, if its a yellowish looking shea butter in a plastic pot with a yellow stickers is the real thing It is yellow and in plastic pot but no yellow stickers... no product name.. thats what got me thinking it might not be the real thing My laptop was out for a long time so did not check this post.. I had been using the Shea butter i got from global village all this while and I really like the result.. the best thing is that it does not activate my acne.. any other moisturizer i use does and this seems like a heaven sent since my skin is becoming dryer with time... although there is no way of verifying i suppose, after using it I have a gut feeling this shea butter is the real thing... and its pretty reasonable after a bit of haggling.. :)

Do we still get the Oman visa at the border or the rules have changed? I have heard it might have... But no one picks at the consulate, while Oman embassy just directed me to the consulate... Anyone who has travelled recently, please help! When I used to go I'd usually go with the Go Tours Dubai. Might be an idea to call them to see whether things have changed in anyway. They might know as they do trips a few times a day. Good luck. Tel:055 410 5611 Great idea that... will do so today...!

Give your marriage time, its just been few months... surely relationships are important... your career can take off anytime (many mothers give up career for years then resume once their children are old enough), but you might not find someone that you love again which seems to be the case with person given that your heart tells you to move, and the fact that you have been together for 5 years... I think it is all in the Attitude... if you finally decide to follow your heart and come here, don't come with negative attitude...decide not to have regrets... also for all you know you might find work here.. Good luck

With all different nationalities here in Dubai I have seen lots of different alarming things in grocery stores! I saw a woman 2 weeks ago eating 4 ( oranges, strawberries, grapes, cucumber) different fruits and I looked at her trying them all as I was so surprised and she didn't even flinch. [b'>I think its OK in some nationalities to try before you BUY! [/b'> Funny enough she arrived at the cashier same time as me and I glanced to see what she bought eventually and it was only the oranges! Shame she is teaching her little one her bad habits! I think the staff Must take action in these situations, as it is stealing. I dont think its OK in any culture to try fruits at your leisure before buying.. it has nothing to do with nationality, its about values and ethics...and all sorts of people exist in every nation... everyone knows that the most you can try in a hyper market are a grape/cherry/olive etc to check if you want to buy ... trying apples and oranges, cucumbers is plain ridiculous and a shame on the one doing it...!

I'm absolutely no expert but that certainly doesn't seem strenuous enough to disrupt periods unless something else is also going on like you've stopped eating and have lost a lot of weight quickly? Being a few lbs underweight shouldn't be enough either, using BMI charts I'm supposedly underweight but I have to be a lot thinner before it will disrupt periods. If I were you I'd visit the gynae for a scan just to check that everything is ok, if nothing else it should put your mind at ease a bit. Hmm... you have got me thinking... will do that soon... thanks for the advice...!

Really...[b'> i never thought being active could bring all these complications[/b'>.. anyway will go to my gynae if I don't get my period for long due to work out... maybe i will shift to just walking if that would mean healthier hormonal life for me...! Being inactive can bring about a whole lot more complications! How much/what sort of exercise are you dong? Do you feel like you are overdoing it? I am doing popsugar's 40 minute strength building workout for beginners (10 min is just stretches at the end)... it seemed very balanced to me for starters... was thinking about taking it to the next level when i was up to it.. this is the video ... also i might be just a few ibs underweight...not much https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=istOU9nxhm8

I took the test today.. its negative.. last night I googled exercise and menses (i don't know why i did not earlier but i never thought/heard it was relevant) ... apparently anyone underweight or overweight can experience missed periods when they start exercise. I am former so i was almost sure the test would be negative, but did it anyway to rule out the possibility before i continued my workout... However the new dilemma is that it seems if i miss my period for months at end my fertility can be affected (and like i mentioned its not great as it is)... also it increases chances of osteoporosis) Really... i never thought being active could bring all these complications.. anyway will go to my gynae if I don't get my period for long due to work out... maybe i will shift to just walking if that would mean healthier hormonal life for me...! Thanks a lot all for your well wishes... I am touched..!

Gritt1, I'm a bit old fashioned when it comes to certain things so I avoided any form of strenuous exercise and movements until I got through my first trimester. I still did some 'gentle' exercises like walking (strolling ;)) and swimming. After 12 weeks , I took it up a notch or two! BTW, congrats if you are pregnant. You can always cut back now and then go back to a regular exercise routine once it's confirmed. Thanks... :) .... hope I am... i am thinking, will stop a day or 2... check things and see how it is and take it from there... !

I'm not being rude, but if you are so concerned, why not just go and consult with your doctor, before you do anything. I am sure you are not being rude... i just don't want to raise a hue and cry about nothing.... but at the same time want to be careful... I never took precaution yet in the last 5 years I just conceived once... so before today I was not even considering I might be pregnant... but I will do the test today, and taking your advice will visit doc soon if required...! edited by Grittt1 on 05/05/2015 edited by Grittt1 on 05/05/2015

That would be big news. I've already paid the 7000 dirham deposit for my son to start FS 1 in September so that would shock me. I agree... it would have been in news as its not a small thing... maybe they are planning to phase it out eventually and some schools are given notice this year... or maybe only some schools with lesser resources are asked to merge FS1 and 2 ... I am really mystified... i guess we will know eventually!

You'll never go to the gym, and afterwards think "ugh I wish hadn't done that" :) You just have to drag yourself there knowing you'll feel better after. [b'>And lucky you, no pain?[/b'> Makes it even easier :) Yah.. thanks... I know I am... but not going to gym, just working out at home in front of the laptop... so I basically have no need to drag myself and no excuse at all... :) ... but since no weight issues one tends to lose the sight of the intangible benefits... sadly one is more motivated to work for appearances rather then health... but i am determined this time... so wish me luck...

I've never stopped exercising for periods, the endorphins released when you work out really help with cramps and grumpiness even if it can be a bit (or lot!) more of an effort to make yourself do it. I[b'>t would be a lot of missed exercise time if you stopped during your period[/b'>. I feel the same... but didn't know if it was a good idea... now that i have finally started don't want to stop to give myself any excuses to leave it altogether... its so much easier to be lazy... :(

I never go for brands for the sake of brand shopping. I buy whatever i like, where ever i like it, provided its within the range I have set for myself. Obviously the best thing is to avail the sales, but i try not to get carried away even then...a sale is really an ambush waiting for us to end up buying stuff which we are not in need of... so i stay weary...

Totally agree with above advice... my DD gets very easily intimidated by kids... we teach her to hold her hand out and say NO loudly to any kid who tries to scare her or hit her... we shouldn't teach our kids to lash back but they should know how to defend themselves... and they should definitely not be getting immune to being hit which seems to be whats happening with your kids Zidu....

Feel for you OP... I would die rather then point out anything like that to a mum.. in our family group of friends there is a 3 year old child who I think is autistic.. the parents I feel have no idea (or at least don't say anything) but they will probably find out when he will go to nursery this Sept... the other day one of the ladies in the group started making faces at him jokingly, usually he doesn't even look at our faces, but that day he looked and seemed so scared, and it seemed despite being scared he could not take his eyes off her... my heart went out to him, I hate talking about anyone's baby but I wish I could ask her to stop and tell her to be more gentle towards him... he is so anti-social as it is... this i felt would just make him draw back in his cocoon... what should one do in such a situation? edited by Grittt1 on 12/04/2015

The simple answer is because it is allowed here - you see it on LinkedIn, in the papers / on job boards - not just here on the EW jobs forum. In the end it saves you and them wasting time, applying for a job they don't want and you interviewing someone you don't want. [b'>As sadly (look through old forum posts) it works both ways.[/b'> Exactly--a countless number of posts here "looking for a ________ maid." No one gets riled up about that. [b'>I don't think it is a racist or discriminatory thing at all. There are certain nationalities I prefer not to work for, but it is a work culture thing. I prefer not to work Saturdays and with a few nationalities that is the norm. How is that racist?[/b'> Agreed... work culture differs from country to country and so does general attitudes and expectations... although exceptions exist in all nationalities but people cant always hope to be lucky to find the exceptions, and so they prefer to play it safe and go for the ones they know/believe are generally better employers/employees... obviously their preferred nationality can also have exception if they are unlucky... ;)

What a tough situation... especially because your other half seems to be so against it... I would say you should do what you think is best for both of you because you are a couple and things should work out for both of you... As for me I have never experienced anything more beautiful than motherhood, but then I was one of those who craved for it before it happened... but I know older people without children who seem content with their lives without children...!
