I love the hot yoga at Inspire. They have an Express Class (1 hr) where you only hold the postures once instead of twice. I have not tried the full hot yoga class so would not be able to tell you if it follows the full set of postures. The room is obviously hot and you sweat buckets but is clean, doesn't smell and they provide plenty of towels.

Keren at Holborn Asset is well respected and also columnist in the National. Mike Small at VSM has a wealth of experience but he is unregistered and does not have access to funds if that is what you are looking for, but has contacts who do. He gives good advice and good at putting your finances in order. Meet them to discuss. No hard sell from either.

We have lived in ours for 3 years now and structurally it is sound (DH is an architect). Sure, we have the odd hairline crack on the walls but nothing major. We are in Meadows 5 and it is a great location as it is quiet, within walking distance to the Meadows shops and Town Centre (in cooler weather). Gardens are mature. Great walking and jogging. Like mum2girls, water tank issues arise; the ball valve broke in ours and we ended up with an eyewatering DEWA bill. We will probably have to replace the outside electricity box as it has started to short-circuit but that is due to the hot weather and overheating. Our aircons work fine. Never had issues with mould. Yes, shopping at Spinneys can be busy during those times but now Pavilion Mall is open so going to Geant is a great alternative. The other times to avoid obviously is kids' school pick up/drop off times.

My daughter has been with Coach DXB http://www.coachdxb.com/ for a couple of years and she has made amazing progress. Try and book Helen or Ellie. Helen is a great teacher and also quite strict and there is no messing around in her classes. Up to you whether you want private or group. We are in group and is usually up to 5 max.

Personally I would finish my degree first. Then I'd get some work experience. UAE is stickler for having the right qualifications for the job. Customer service culture here is monopolised by people of the Indian sub-continent and the Philippines as they are cheaper to hire so you would certainly have to lower your salary expectations. And no one is going to hire someone who doesn't have at least several years' experience. Sexual harassment occurs everywhere and if you are working in a professional environment, behave professionally and dress modestly then you are unlikely to invite unwelcome advances. If you are coming to the UAE because of your fiancé, you do know that you are by law not allowed to co-habit unless you are married? I know people who do and most turn a blind eye but it only takes one person to call the police before you are landed in jail and deported. From your questions I think you need to read up more about the work and living culture in the UAE before even considering coming. I suggest you read 'Don't they know it's Friday' by Jeremy Williams.

Lennox79 - firstly enrol in the Adoption Support Group in Dubai on https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/asgdubai/info and go to one of the info mtgs. I am not entirely sure who moderates it now but you'll be able to speak to people on the forum who are going through different stages of adoption. We successfully adopted from Guatemala (unfortunately now closed) whilst living in the UAE. The most important thing is that your nationality will dictate where you will be able to adopt from. Check with your embassy the procedure for adoption and ease of getting citizenship for the child once adopted. Both my spouse and I are British citizens so we had no issues with her citizenship. I have been told by the embassy that there has not be an adoption that has been turned down but still do not assume and double check everything. Per SunDevil's post, make an appt to see Dr Hamdan and he'll walk you through the home study etc. Good luck on your journey. Just be mindful

Have a five hour layover at Delhi airport between connecting flights back to Dubai later in the year. Any ideas what I can do with the time? Can I and is it worth venturing out into the city and will I have enough time or shall I just pay to get into the Emirates Lounge and chill in there? Cheers,

Thanks ladies. Pollydxb, I went to the shop in Madinat and the sales assistant said that unfortunately Havianas don't supply extras. She suggested I try Dubai Mall as it's a bigger shop and they are doing flipflops with interchangeable colours so will let you know how I get on. Estrella, I'll ask my hubby to see if he can fix it per your instructions. Tks

The thong bit that goes between the toes has split. Can they be replaced with new ones? I thought I saw kids' Havianas with a selection of the plastic thongs in different colours you can change so wondered if they did them for adults? I'm sure I saw them in the Madinat shop. TIA!

Check out Remade DXB on FB. They are based in Al Quoz, have "Sewcial Thursdays" where you can just turn up and do whatever crafty projects you would like to work on - sewing, knitting, embroidery, etc. and you meet other ladies of different nationalities with similar interests. Ladies Recreational Club? Or, if her English is good, if Expatwoman are having their next coffee morning perhaps she could join? Mark Twain said "Age is an issue of mind over matter. I recommend Dr Michaela at Vienna Vet Clinic on Al Thanya Street. She used to work at Jumeirah Vet Clinic but has now set up on her own. She's looked after my 2 cats over the last 8 years and recently nursed my friend's dog back from the brink of death when he ingested poisoned rat pellets.

I always understood that if the UK property was your main residence regardless of whether you are overseas or not, it is not subject to CGT. It is only subject to CGT if it is a second home. Of course, correct me if I am wrong please.

Kings open. However, I live in Springs and have decided to keep DD at home as I may not be able to get in/out during pick up time. Why can't they plan these things ahead of time and cause the least amount of disruption? Other countries seem to manage. Oh sorry, I forgot, we're in Dubai.

I have also been reading the articles dinks about sugar and have started reading the sugar labels avidly on everything. Once you visualize a tsp of sugar it really does stop you in your tracks and reaching for certain things in the supermarket. Any word ending in 'ose' is sugar and don't take anything that has sugar listed as one of the top 3 ingredients. Listened to the radio yesterday, coincidentally same subject came on, they said easiest thing to stick to the Paleo is just visit fruit section (in moderation), load up on veggies, go to meat and fish and leave straight away. The hardest is trying to decide what to put in kids' lunchboxes.

You could always donate your books to More Café in Gold and Diamond Park and depending on how many they take you get free coffee/cake. There's the 2ndhand book section at the Garden Centre I take my books to. Any books they don't think they can sell they can still take off you and give to charity. I've donated clothes to some of the charities I found on the threads here, Syrian refugee and a women's charity in Sharjah.

Oliver has his own contracting company that he uses. Or you can try MAB Maintenance, I have used them in the past but you need to keep on top of them. You can either shop around yourself and get the contractor to buy for you (some of them seem to be able to negotiate discounts). MAB for instance used to bring over a few samples of tiles or catalogues and they'd go price it up for you.

We have just had our master and guest bathrooms renovated and I am delighted by the result. We had a lot of input in the process, bought our tiles from Dragonmart (a lot cheaper than the shops on Al Mahalluadin (?) street (the street where RAK ceramics is and all the other bathroom shops). Simple bathtubs were limited at Dragonmart (many had jacuzzis jets, etc) so you'll probably have to trawl around. There is one on SZR, same side as Change Initiative and along a stretch of shops just before you reach MOE. We spent a bit more on fittings from Bagno (they might be on sale now?). Our bathroom contractor is Oliver at http://goettling.me/ mob: 050 260 3220. He can work with any budget so don't let the gorgeous website put you off!

I am on the same learning curve and have had a look at the differences bet du and etisalat and net-net they pretty much work out the same. If you are looking to get the new iphone5s, good luck cuz they are not in stock. If you already have a phone, I have just subscribed to etisalat 1gb monthly data plan for AED99 per month. I have been told that 1gb is plenty for us as most of us only check emails, FB, whatsap etc. when we can access wifi and use mobile data in emergencies only. You need more gb if you are going to download films and watch youtube. I was stupidly paying AED150 for this plan that offered only 250mb so that would get used up really quickly and then of course any excess on top of that was at full rate so I ended up paying over AED300 a month whilst my friends were only paying around AED100. I have one friend doing pay as you go and that seems to work too. HTH
