Try Debenhams. If you can't find fitted sheets, you may have to resort to using flat sheets.

Born's Kitchen, run by a lovely lady and her son: https://www.facebook.com/borncatering?fref=ts They have a weekly class schedule so you can pick and choose the ones you like. Alternatively, Fairmont the Palm have just introduced The Chef's Palette where you can tell them what you'd like to cook or they'll suggest a menu (requires a minimum booking of 6 people).

Soprano Ice are the best machines in the market right now, and definitely suitable for face. You'd probably have to Google to see which clinics/salons use them.

Check out Fairmont the Palm, only a 15m cab ride to Media City. They have a very good kids club and there are always other kids to play with as it's family resort.

I moved to Dubai last autumn and found meetup.com to be super helpful. I have yet to attend an EW coffee morning, but have heard good things. How about trying to coordinate a visit to a coffee morning with some others from this forum?

Husband & I enjoyed the couples massage at Amara Spa, Park Hyatt (the suite has indoor and outdoor showers), and spent some time relaxing by the pool after. I don't know if they have any offers on though.

Have you spoken to anyone at a pharmacy here to see if you can buy said meds over the counter perhaps? That way you could keep a stock to cover her visit, so she doesn't need to bring anything with her. We brought restricted meds from the UK, along with a copy of the prescription and a letter from the consultant, in hand luggage - no one even bothered to check.

I had all my wedding jewellery designed and made there, and have taken a few friends back since - we've all been happy with the work. Divyesh in particular has always been helpful and pragmatic when it comes to haggling! He may now be in one of the Cara sister stores, but they all share stock and use the same workshop.

Encona hot sauce - it makes my tastebuds so happy. For the first few months out here I couldn't find it anywhere and was distraught - visiting friends would bring bottles of it as "housewarming gifts"! Luckily I've discovered that Lulus has it (albeit in a plastic bottle with a thinner consistency).

I've had no problems with BA, whereas it seems that every Emirates flight I take is delayed by at least 20 minutes (usually longer). Virgin on board service is better than BA though, but if this isn't something that bothers you then it's all same same but different (it doesn't really bother me as I tend to sleep on flights, but drives my husband up the wall). I'd book the cheaper option. There's a BA sale on at the moment, if that helps.

Have you paid your bill? We forgot once and our broadband went off after a week. We paid online and it was back up in 10 minutes. Happens to the best of us! Thanks ladies - turns out our bill was due yesterday, but as we were both out of the country neither of us had paid, each thinking the other had already done it! Bill promptly paid, internet kicked back in shortly after. Impressed at the speed with which they cut us off, considering how long it usually takes to get the simplest thing done ;) For what it's worth, I used my internet-free time wisely - I finally managed to watch the copy of Wolf of Wall Street I downloaded many moons ago!

Has anyone come across this issue before? All devices are connecting to the Internet but not actually working. Mobile data works just fine, so this looks like a broadband issue. Have rebooted both routers, but it has made no difference.

Have you got a makani number yet? You could just use that and they will deliver to your door. Otherwise, just give Aramex your area, building name and apartment number. They should be able to deliver anywhere in Dubai and if they're not sure, they will call you to verify the location. I doubt they can deliver to a PO Box because you have to sign for the delivery. No Makani number yet :(

Thinking of signing up to this, but how does it work when the items arrive in Dubai - are they sent to a central facility where they are collected (like a warehouse/post office equivalent) or shipped directly to your home address (would you need a PO box?). TIA

Give this a go: Peel and chop a couple of bananas. Freeze. Stick in the blender and whizz til is looks pureed - instant "ice cream"! For a bit of a twist, add frozen berries too. No additives, all natural sugar.

The shop opposite the Cigar Lounge in Fairmont the Palm is good and very reasonably priced - Mr. Das is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I believe it's part of the La Casa Del Habano franchise (there's one on JBR).

Hi ladies, I am moving to Dubai in August, what is the best way to contact people back home in the UK if what's app is blocked?? Is there other things that are blocked like FaceTime or Skype?? Why are these blocked?? Just wishing to plan ahead and tell people to download apps if necessary! Thanks in advance! I use Skype and Viber to call back home, without the need to use a V P N. I believe facetime still works, it just doesn't come pre-installed on devices sold in the UAE and can't be downloaded. I would recommend downloading a V P N to your laptops/iPads etc before you move (especially so you can still watch shows from back home - TV here leaves a lot to be desired).

P.S. to sponsor your children for a visa out here you have to be earning a certain minimum salary, and I believe you also need the father's permission (some kind of documentation) to allow them to live here.

Liverbird - a Scouser or LFC fan by any chance? Check out MeetUp.com for networking events (there are groups specific to the beauty industry, for example), there are bound to be a few on while you're out here. Best to start checking from a month before your visit. Best of luck.
