Hi Ladies, Can I ask if anyone here has used 'The Journey' as a form of therapy? I currently suffer from anxiety/depression and, although I see a very good counselor here in Dubai, who helps a great deal, I can't seem to get rid of it all. It's been years now and my physical health is suffering too. I am very open minded to alternative and spiritual healing and enjoy meditating, reiki and eating cleanly. In the past I was treated medically with pills but they made me a lot worse. I was introduced to this form of therapy recently, but i'm unsure and a bit nervous. Has anyone experienced it? Or know someone who has? Thank you. Hello there RiH It's my first time hearing about the therapy you mentioned, sounds interesting. For a holistic approach to health,I've been seeing Dr. Heather Eade at Intelligent Health Clinic. She is a qualified Naturopathic doctor and knows her stuff really well. May I ask which counselor you've been seeing in Dubai? The very good ones are hard to come by and I'd love to have some recommendations please! Thanks! :)

I do, because my 14 year old neighbor keeps harassing us at every opportunity he gets and my worst fear is for him to have found his way in and harm myself or my children. Jeez Coffeebean, this sounds a bit intense!!? Harassing in what sense!? To the rest of you ladies - thank you for helping me prove my point to my friend :biggrin: I still find it bizarre not having a house alarm in our apartment here, never mind not locking things - it was always a natural thing for my family to do when leaving the house or going to sleep! It's been an ongoing issue for a few years now (been neighbors for six years now). He goes out the minute we take our children out for their bike rides and follows us everywhere we go. The maid is more petrified of him than we are and doesn't do anything to stop him when he harasses us. Throwing stones at us, throwing pokey metal objects into our front yard, throwing garbage into our front yard, I could go on. Recently I was out with my daughter and upon hearing us he came out and stood very close talking loudly 'at' us. When he noticed we were ignoring him he kicked my daughter on her leg. That was the last straw and I chased him into his house only to find the maid standing by looking indifferent. He ran back upstairs and hid inside. All I did was speak sternly saying if he ever raised a finger at myself or my children I will call the police. I am assuming he told his parents what I said because they stopped saying hello ever since. Needless to say, we are moving once our lease finishes next year. Having said that, deep down I feel he is not mentally stable. All we hear most nights is fighting and breaking of objects. Disturbing really.

Its' ok - this will only happen when we all have street names...... that's only just been started and not got very far..... I'm still a street number :) Not true. I have my number already, but DM has said it will not be naming our streets for at least 2 more years. And we don't even have street numbers ! We are still giving directions the old fashioned way - left at the park, right by the yellow boat, turn onto the dirt road by the dead palm tree etc :) LOVE it!

Just go to Google maps and type Dubai traffic in the search bar, the roads will spear with green (moving) or red (slow) or yellow (sluggish) colours depending on the traffic flow, easy :) Brilliant! So THIS is what they use on the radio when they announce road traffic! I seriously had no idea and am always impressed, but now I can do it myself :)

It's pretty sad when you kind of start hoping for a "little" property market crash... rent is just becoming crazy again! I'd be lying if I said that didn't cross my mind.

I am getting a fixed monthly allowance too but I don't feel insulted. True, marriage is about partnership but there is no right single approach I feel. When we got married we discussed finances and it was actually my idea to have a fixed allowance or budget or whatever you may call it. I had my reasons, a. I'm a crazy spender when I had a job before kids (a very good one) I used to spend ALL of my salary in 3 weeks. DH is a smart finance guy and manages money very well. I don't want to think about grocery bill, this bill and that bill. I myself asked for 3500 for myself every month. All grocery, utilities, gifts, dining out, entertaining, rent,my car's fuel and servicing, dining with friends, kid's expenses, etc are all on DH. My money is for makeup and clothes no questions asked. I did work off and on but DH never asks for money from me. With my fixed budget I get to control my spending habits and have access to a little luxury spending for myself. I would not have it any other way. I agree. When it comes to these things, there is no one size fits all approach and I believe culture has a lot to do with how families deal with budgeting / finances. Where I come from, it's pretty normal for older generations to allocate allowance to wives etc but it's not the done thing among younger couples.

You can get a lot of them from most hypermarkets like Geant, Carrefour - they may be cheaper than Magrudy's! i had no idea they were available in hypermarkets ... will check it out there ... want to get them as reasonable as possible as i am also planning to buy some as gifts for my nephews who were pretty excited when i spoke to them about it last they visited... sadly their parents never got them any.. although they do play outdoor games but their idea of indoor games is limited to virtual games only... I've seen them at Carrefour MCC.

I was disgusted by this ad too. To suggest that everyone who dies , dies because it is their fault, is appalling. Also to suggest that their (very expensive) "screening" can prevent death in every case, is malpractice. I wasn't at all surprised however to see who put the ad on; this clinic offered my friend a bag full of "anti-aging " hormones, but couldn't provide any reliable information on long-term safety. The ad is an insult to those who have passed on, and hurtful to their surviving families. I agree. According to the ad, my brother who battled cancer for years before his death at 38, was at fault. Insulting and hurtful. OP, I will be sending a text message to the Business Breakfast and the Drive Live team on Dubai Eye 103.8 addressing this. Hoping they will deliver.

Hi PinkSushi, My sister did this back in August. Came on 30 days visa, overstayed for 5 or 6 days, and left with no fines because she was given a 10 day grace period. She too holds American passport.

Holland and Barrett carry good quality whipped shea butter. And to add, I have previously bought from Ripe and the smell was so repulsive I couldn't use it. I think theirs was mixed with argan oil. edited by Coffeebean on 10/11/2014

I've used Boba wrap (also called Sleepy Wrap) and the Peanut Shell. Of the two, I really liked the Boba one. There was a distributor here in Dubai for the peanut shell but I had to order the Boba straight from the U.S. Google for more info :)

His name escapes me right now but the desert safari guy that MrsB on here recommends has camel riding included in his safari package. It was a great service amd I reckon many on EW have used him following MrsB's recommendation.

Grossness aside, I agree that most probably these men are left with no choice. Sad really. I have seen this happen against a wall of a residential villa in Mirdif and was utterly shocked. It took me a while to think that maybe that person had no other choice.

RT, normally older children have the ability to reason, which is what younger ones don't (developmentally speaking) so no it won't be an issue. Reasoning is the biggest and most important milestone that sets apart toddlers from older young children. And thank God for that :)

Thank you SB and Daza :) so there is hope :) think I'll just bite the bullet and do it. only issue is if the 5 year old keeps waking the 3 year old (who sleeps one more hour than the 5 year old does), would that ultimately be depriving her of enough hours of sleep? thanks again :)
