@ Cheeky Monkey..Completely agree!! But what I would want to get from the poster: 1. How was your relationship prior to him becoming a teenager? I know that the teenage ages are difficult..but believe me human beings have not changed. If you had a good--kind of talking/understanding relationship prior, it does not always go the other end very quickly at this age.. 2. Did you set rules prior to this age? was there a structure in the house ? It will be difficult to pick up from here if certain things were not happening in the first place..perhaps it may be a good time to form a different kind of relatonship...research some you tube videos about addiction--different types or buy videos from Amazon..play and watch this together and then have talks together. Since you asked for advice...i'm just thinking of what may work...Good Luck and always pray for your children!

Hi! I am a Non-Native Speaker..CELTA Trained with the British Council. I remember taking that course..almost 10 years ago. I was pregnant..It was quite tough, but I had high hopes....The reality is that it is extremely difficult to get work with no experience as a Non-Native.. (Including with your Trainer) even when you want part time at least to build up experience and get to use what you studied for...It is rare..(Not saying impossible) and more possible in environments where organisations are in dire need of staff..But keep pushing..You may get a few smaller places and be at the right place at the right time!

Any recommended activities for kids here? where? Sports or music lessons.etc. It's a large area but there seems not to be enough for kids to do around here..JVT seems to have much more options and at least they have play courts for older kids..

Not just that the job market is terrible, but everywhere you turn, there is a new charge or increased fees for something..back breaking to say the least and quite difficult to get by. Friends of ours recently moved to U.S.A (Non-Americans)( and before you could say America they both have jobs now and are settled in nicely. Nobody replies here-Only a few select multinationals..and if you are Non-western, Indian or Filipino....It will need a miracle...

Hello Nannygirl, Not really sure you should have hijacked the thread posted by Isabella. While you also support a worthy cause, it would have been great to let her run her post without the interruption and post yours some other time. Just to observe some online etiquette. Thanks..

Found a nursery in Umm Suqueim called adventure kids nursery after we came back from Summer for my child for 2 weeks, and I really do recommend them. Very homely feel, and all the staff are so warm and friendly..They charge a fraction of what the others take for day care/drop off, but I was reminded that kids only need a place they will be happy and well looked after. Its not as blingy as many nurseries in the new Dubai area but my daughter was really happy there and a few times I was late (including having to wait for police after someone scraped my car), they completely understood, didn't fuss and call me after every 5 minutes...e.t.c..infact I was the one calling them to keep them updated. I'm hoping this will help many ladies who need help with where to put kids esp. for a few hours as I struggled with this and the costs being so high around here. Please admin, its not paid or even solicited for, just done out of my own free will for the excellent care received, and hoping it will help someone somewhere...

Growing up..travelling to Britain filled us with a sense of awe and wonder..The good manners..(most of the time)..Queen's English..e.t.c Britain 'exited' in my mind when I got to London as an adult and saw how 15 year old's were 'rewarded' for having babies outside wedlock--giving them 1 bedroom accommodation when they should have been told' oh well, maybe a mistake, now go back home and do some more growing up' while hardworking parents or people with genuine reasons for separation were punished and had to scheme and make up all sorts to keep their families afloat... The earlier they need to know that the society does not exist in a vaccum..individuals come from families and the more broken families you have, the more broken a nation will be.. The one question I would love to ask is why??? I am not a politician and I recognise this...Was this part of the EU agreement?

Well, since you asked for reviews, My son went in for an interview so he was put in a class in year 1 for the day. For a child straight from nursery, not used to the accent and all, even I was scared of the teachers face.. When i picked him at the end of the day, I was told he didn't know his basic shapes and numbers..I told them it was impossible and they could call his teachers at nursery and ask.. Long and short, My son is not very outspoken and I bet he was terrified. He did not get into Safa....and I am happy- very happy about that. iT may well be a great school, but certainly not for us.

Sometimes its difficult to know what is normal and what is not..But a cue is to check if he or she is doing well in other areas. Its really worrying that more and more children are going to be diagnosed and' labeled' wrongly in the present Dubai. 3 years is so young to expect kids to act big and wipe their noses in school and talk non-stop. Not for majority of children anyway. My brother did not say a word until 3 years..only nodding. My granny then asked my mum..if his hearing seemed okay? and he was socialising well..all others were positive. This was over 30 years ago. Today he is a Consultant Psychologist and who knows if it was present day...He might not have gotten admission into any school at all! I think its kind of a sad situation that children are going to be forced to grow up so quickly way beyond the neurological capabilities of most of them..a practice that will only end up feeding more clinics for these children. All in all, each child has to be evaluated on so many different basis, keeping a keen eye is useful and if ever any behaviour or better still behaviors seem odd, to ask a doctor. May God be with us all as we work out the best thing for our kids.

Been here since 2008, and apart from in 2009, have not seen as many moving trucks as i have seen this year. Dubai is really getting very expensive to live in. Great as a holiday destination especially for kids..but living here for the long term..Well..you better be earning some serious cash!

One morning, i had taken my little one to Ibn Battuta and they were having a mother and baby group and I could see the EW sign. I wanted to go up and introduce myself, but the lady i saw there at the entrance looked so non-welcoming that no one needed to tell me to turn back..i just smiled and went away. I am African and the look on her face alone said it all. even if she thought i wanted to gate crash, it helps to explain what the group is doing with a smile. it's really a pity.

did you mean to write 2 months or 2 years?..please read up about it, don't mean to tell you how to bring up a child, but a 2 months old baby does not need DVD'S. Try and do some research online, but it may be your first baby, so its good to also point you in the right direction.
