The German Neuroscience Centre in JLT has a support group FREE of charge, they gather once a month 7 - 8pm. Their next group session is the 1st week of December though they don't have the confirmed date yet. There is a mixed group and there is a women only group. Both groups take as many members as the number of people signing up. Bear in mind this is NOT a one on one consultation or therapy session but a confidential group session where other people participate as well. Your friend can go there with her child but she needs to call in advance to register. They deal with depression, anxiety, migraines, etc... The Al Jalila Foundation offers treatment support for expats and Emiratis alike, your friend could apply for it online. There are certain documents required but they accept mental health related applications too. Your friend will have to see a psychologist or psychiatrist first who will have to write a medical report then file that online with the other required documents and the application form. If selected this could be a good long-term solution for a couple of appointments for her with a certified mental health professional.

I did my license at Emirates Driving Institute in Al Quoz and passed for the first time with no issues. I found the instructors really nice, at least mine was. I also found the local lady who gave me the test very kind. I'd say it is super easy to obtain a license here. The only downfall is they don't allow you to drive on SZR only after passing the test so a lot of practice is warranted for afterwards.

If you mean the cooling bill then yes, anyone can leave anytime without paying things but of course should they want to return there might be consequences to it. If your contract states he is responsible for it then report the person and see if they can do something about it.

My sister was diagnosed with the same and went for an MRI which looked into any degenerative bone issues, etc that could have prevented her from going to a chiropractic doctor. I think an MRI is a must either way, nobody should treat her without that examination. She goes to a chiropractor who helps her tremendously, does specialised physiotherapy with the help of a woman who comes to her home, she also exercises on her own, pays attention to how she sits, for how long, etc....Her scoliosis is not insanely bad but it has become very bothersome to her as she works in an office and she gets a lot of back pain. I would recommend an MRI requested by your GP before jumping into anything (it won't cost you anything if you have medical insurance). Then visit Dr. Charles at the California Chiropractic Clinic in Healthcare City. Google the clinic, call them up and request for him to call you back first and see if he can help in any way, seeing your DD is 10 years old. If nothing else, a 3rd opinion is always helpful. There is no quick fix for scoliosis but a combination of treatments that do help long term manage the condition. My sister lives a full life but she is very disciplined with her exercising, etc... Hope this helps and your DD improves.

I agree with others, don't bother, the package they offer is terrible AND illegal! I have a friend who earns 10,000, has no life whatsoever! Rent is very high for a nice room, so is food, plus you'll have to foot all dental etc costs, car if you'd like to be flexible etc...Just not worth it....

It will be great, Sharjah housing is cheaper than Dubai. Search dubizzle for rental accommodation, same for used cars but beware to check it out with a mechanic prior to purchase. If you'd like a new one, any car dealership will help. Cost of living will depend on what you spend your money on...food can be from AED800 a month depending what you eat, where you buy it from, you buy in bulk or go every other day, your work gets you lunch, etc... 25,000 is a good offer.

Not just that the job market is terrible, but everywhere you turn, there is a new charge or increased fees for something..back breaking to say the least and quite difficult to get by. Friends of ours recently moved to U.S.A (Non-Americans)( and before you could say America they both have jobs now and are settled in nicely. Nobody replies here-Only a few select multinationals..and if you are Non-western, Indian or Filipino....It will need a miracle... Indeed! Recruiters do not respond to CV's that don't make it or give feedback as to why it won't make it...I have called so many back to get constructive feedback and was told they don't have time for that...go figure... To their defence they do receive literally 1000's...I applied for a job that was posted two hours prior and by the time I clicked on it received more than 6,000 (!) applications!!! Then they changed it to male Indian only...happy days...

Same with charities, also contact Stepping Stones, the Autism Centre, they might have something or know of something that suits you. Animal charities are also always in need of a helping hand...

Sadly the only doctor who seems to deal with this is the one at the American Hospital as there was where my husband and I went too. I'd go back or call them, ask to speak to his nurse and ask for a call back. The doctor will provide you with more training or the nurse will, this should be free of charge. You can also simply leave a message to the doctor saying the machine has not helped your husband at all and he should call you back with advice. Weight can be an issue for men who snore as well and fitness level...having said that my husband lost the weight and got fit but still snores like there is a locomotive engine coming through the wall.

Another scam warning: Three guys arrived at our building saying they were maintenance, security let them through as they were from the same country. Then they proceeded to knock on doors that security cameras didn't cover. They rang my bell, I opened it only to find 3 very dodgy men hanging around, almost inviting themselves in the flat and looking around, peeking inside. I had to pretend my husband was at home and yelled his name...they scurried away. Security couldn't identify them from cameras. They abuse the fact that most security personnel are from their own country. Apparently they pretend they are from the building management company to inspect either fire safety or something that will have you worried so you naturally let them in. Don't ever do that. Tell them to go downstairs and wait at reception while you confirm this with building management. I always have a chat with security since then to tell people to use the Intercom if they want to gain access to my door. If this doesn't happen I file an official complaint with the building management company as many times as needed.

My friend is married to an Emirati, it wasn't that complicated and for as long as both sides agree to how their children will be raised etc it's totally fine. They are super happy and have 5 kids, she is from EU too. Know your rights and your future children's rights prior and the visa procedures. That's all. Your embassy is a good starting point but also the UAE embassy in France. Good luck!

My friend has just relocated to Remraam Al Ramth and so far loves it though she mentioned the [b'>mosque is very loud[/b'> (no disrespect just the fact). It is very peaceful as of now, not that many people live in her building BUT there is [b'>no garbage disposal chute[/b'> so you have to carry your own garbage down in the elevator and throw it in the huge metal containers in the parking lot (it was beyond hot and smelly there but completely doable), [b'>security was very relaxed[/b'>, they let everyone go everywhere in the building. The flat is lovely, it is new, modern with lovely views of the other yellow buildings. There was [b'>no pavement to the building yet[/b'> so I had to walk through sand but they were working on it so I am sure it will be done in no time. I could see from her window that [b'>parking was an issue for guests[/b'> as people simply double parked and locked others' cars in. There is also [b'>nothing there[/b'> apart from this community so you are very cut off, [b'>you'll have to drive everywhere[/b'>. Pros and cons like everywhere else I guess. My friend loves living there. It's been a week only though, I shall update when she moves beyond the few months line though it might not be relevant to you by then. The agent was very nice and decent: Farhat Abbas: (not sure if sharing phone numbers is okay here or not if it doesn't show email me at frankiedory77 at gmail dot com

The Marina is very built up compared to the Ranches/DSO however it is very happening :-) and busy so there would be lots for the kids to do. There are lots of restaurants, the beach, Marina Mall ( Cinema is there) close proximity to the metro ( saves Dad being a taxi from the ranches) Most apartments have their own pool, play area etc it is just finding the right building. Have a look at the Views and the Greens ( Emaar developer same as Ranches) too as this has lots of amenities and green open spaces kids of all ages are always out playing. If you look at the buildings below they are a 10 min walk from internet city metro station Turia Dutco Uno Sidir Nakheel I second this opinion, Dubai Marina is great for your children as everything is nearby and they can feel more independent as they can take the tram or Metro too, Marina Mall is here, JBR so close with the beach there. It is a busy area but if you don't have a car or want to have two cars it is a great place to live, plenty of supermarkets, chance to meet people, etc... The Greens are equally nice, quieter but the Metro is not right there so to say, you'll have to walk more to it or take a taxi when it gets hot... Look on Google map, observe the tram and Metro signs, supermarkets, distance to school, how to get there, etc...then on dubizzle or propertyfinder for prices. We have friends with similar age children to yours who live in Dubai Marina and they love it.

Take them to the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding, they'll be given breakfast and learn about the culture, provided they speak English?! (SMCCU) The Lost Chambers at Atlantis, I took my mother there and she loved it! It is indoors, interesting and you can have lunch/coffee/tea afterwards. The Big Bus tour is great if they sit inside, on the top it is crazy hot...the dhow again, very hot unless taken in the evening. On the other hand the Bateaux dinner cruise which is inside a lovely glass boat is wonderful, leaves from the Creek. Spice/Gold Souk again requires walking outdoors in the heat..I'd not recommend those if they don't like the sun. I was there a few days ago and it was more than unpleasant.

Before you buy do talk to the Building Management company as they can shed a lot of light into service charges, the age of the building (more than 10 years old and a lot of issues will start popping up), their AC system (ie. how often they maintain that, if the generator will need changing - that will cost extra in service charges in the future), if they clean the water tank properly, etc...we went through it all, the only things that are added: your service charges and then everything that is beyond your front door becomes your responsibility, including changing the insulation around AC pipes every 3 years to avoid leakage, change the water heaters as they will leak or you'll water will become brown, etc...but it's so good to live in your own apartment as you can renovate it, make it homier, etc...Good luck!

My teeth got stained from coffee, red wine and turmeric mostly and I did all 3 types of teeth whitening, the one at the dentist with the blue light, was very painful and my teeth became very sensitive afterwards. I would not recommend it. Then I tried the 'natural' teeth whitening that lasts about two to three months, this includes the same light technique as the first one but it did not hurt at all and I was very happy with the results, you can take 30/45/60mins treatments dependant on how white you wish your teeth to get. Bear in mind with this one certain white spots will be visible on your teeth if you already have those prior to whitening. Then I had the at home in-tray version, I found that amazing but my teeth hurt at first application, so even that gel was too strong for me. I'd vouch for the 'natural whitening', you'll have to be careful not to eat any colourful foods and have coffee with a straw etc afterwards for two days. And it only lasts about 2-3 months...not sure who does this in Dubai as I had this treatment done in Europe. And I also agree with FairyDust, the at home trays are very good! They cost less and you can adjust the whiteness so to say by applying more or less gel, stronger or weaker gel, how long you leave the tray on, etc...

Hi Terry There are so so many things to do in Dubai. In a nutshell, desert safari, skiing in the Dubai Mall, a visit to the Dubai Mall itself. Oh of course, a sunrise at the Observation Deck at Burj Khalifa. If you are looking for opulence, then I would personally would recommend either the Madinat Al Qasr (Jumeirah) or the Armani Hotel which is actually in the Burj Khalifa. I am sure that many other ladies will post excellent activities/hotels for you. Hope you enjoy your stay. Skiing is not at Dubai Mall but in Mall of the Emirates at SKI Dubai. :nerd:

It is going to be very hot (45-55 degrees) when you are here and with Ramadan many places will not be open and modesty observed a touch more (no eating or drinking in public etc)... Having said this, if money was no object, best way to spend hot summer days are at a wonderful spa like the one at Zaabel Saray on the Palm where you can spend a full day getting pampered! I second the Armani Hotel, if it fits your budget, its wonderful! Right next to Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall! The restaurants at the Armani Hotel are equally amazing! Try exercise classes that you can search for online, recommend Pilates at Real Pilates with Paul, who is a STOTT certified trainer. Book in advance though as they get busy. Or try the under water cycling class in Jumeirah, they are called L'Atelier. Plenty of fitness opportunities indoor... Definitely go up to the observation deck of Burj Khalifa, book tickets online in advance to ensure your slot, you can have a drink there in the evening too if you book at Atmosphere, nothing like a glass of champagne on the 122nd floor (make sure to enquire about their table reservation policy as they can charge you a fix flat rate for a table that you can redeem against bar food and drinks) OR enjoy High Tea there in the afternoon with scones and champagne!; walk around in Madinat Jumeirah, visit the Souq next to Dubai Mall, Dubai Mall in itself is vast with the aquarium and zoo upstairs; you could visit The Lost Chambers at the Atlantis on the Palm as well if you really like fish :) you could also book a ticket at the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding: SMCCU, they serve a breakfast or lunch while they teach you about the region, or visit one of the amazing business class style cinemas for a quick movie (Marina Mall or Dubai Mall); enjoy a drink at the SkyView bar at the Burj Al Arab, the world's only 7 star hotel, book ahead and once again enquire about table prices etc, visit Mirdif City Centre for indoor skydiving! Check out Dubai Opera as well for their listings, they might have something fun on during those days! Outdoor activities will be unbearable unless done very early (5am) or very late (9pm onwards) bearing in mind you won't be able to consume water or any other drinks in public... Plan ahead is my advice by sending emails to places you would like to visit/stay at... Enjoy Dubai! bye: Reach me at frankiedory77 at gmail dot com for more detailed info or any questions you might have :)

Hi, It is such a Catch 22 for graduates or people without experience in this region but my suggestion would be to get some work as a 'Shadow Teacher' or 'Special Needs Teacher', I know it is vastly different from your field but it would provide you with the actual teaching experience itself at least, even if you did that for 6 months or a year then it would serve as a platform to progress into your actual subject area, that could be within a high school too, eventually could lead to university level positions...Middlesex University Dubai has a postgraduate degree in Higher Education, all lecturers seem to have it unless they have doctorates... Hope this helps!

Dubai can be a tad boring after years of living here as there is only so much you can do BUT if you frequently check What's On and Time Out it can give you new ideas, like the aventure park at Mushrif Park with their zip line, or indoor skydiving at Mirdiff Mall, or going for a bbq in the desert, visiting other emirates, movies, theatre, doing different sports, etc... Networking is key here, that tends to get you out of your house the most. Search on Quora for things to do in Dubai, there are a few helpful lists there too...
