The visa will depend on the nationality of the child. Assuming it is a minor, your parents should also bring a document, statement from parents or foster organisation, which proves that they are allowed to travel with the child. They may not be asked, but better bring it with them. Thank you for your reply oopsiedaisy. Good advice

I wonder if anyone could advise. My parents are coming to visit in November. They will get a visit visa on arrival. They currently foster a child and before we book flights we want to ensure they won't encounter any difficulties at immigration. Will they be able to get a visit visa for this child on arrival also?(given they are unrelated) Or is there anything we should do in advance. TIA?

NKD do a pretty good gluten free pizza. For pasta I buy the alternative rice pasta at spinneys. It's quite good. I'm not aware of any restaurant that serves gluten free pasta unfortunately.

Disastrous D, really good point regarding getting bills in your name. I will keep this in mind for my conversation with my landlord! Thanks for sharing. You're welcome. I hope it helps. In the end my landlord was really fair about it. Best of luck with your negotiations.

We spoke to rera And they advised that the landlord could change the terms and conditions to the contract within 90 days of the renewal date. He could ask us to pay the bill for service charges but only if the bill could be put in our name. If the bill could not be put in our name then the extra charges would represent an overall increase in rental value. We were not due a rental increase according to the calculator and the bill could not be put in our name. Our landlord was in agreement and agreed to renew on our existing terms . Therefore we didn't have any changes to our contract.

We are facing a similar issue but our's has to do with the 2nd parking. We are in a 3 b/r apartment and though our contract says 1 parking, at the time of signing our contract, the management co assured us a free 2nd parking. Now as they are not legally able to increase our rents they have asked us to pay AED6,666/- for the 2nd parking!!! I wonder where they come up with these ridiculous amounts. The only saving grace is that in our case we can refuse the charge and park outside (RTA card costs AED2,500/-) Wow. AED 6666!? Where did they pull that figure from. It's a bit ridiculous that these extra charges are allowed to be imposed. They are basically an overall increase in rental value. I have contacted Rera today and they are going to look into it. They said they will have an answer for me tomorrow. Will keep you posted.

Thankfully I had a different experience at Esposa. The dresses are amazing but not cheap as they are all high end designers. The girls are so lovely in there and I was so pleased with the service and final product. I tried every wedding store in Dubai. Frost was great but again high end designers so expensive. Avoid pronovias at all costs. Staff are extremely rude and nothing to try on there. Contessa were so nice, beautiful dresses and the manager was very attentive. The wedding shop were nice too and good prices. Cocoon trend in Dubai is a good option. They had some nice Jenny packham dresses. Might be worth a look!

Try kids In motion therapy services in healthcare city for sensory integration therapy. You can purchase white noise cd s on amazon or online just google search. Otherwise try baby product stores or the easiest way is to tune your radio to a static setting. As for social stories you can use photographs of himself to set up a step by step story if he is not able to read. Same approach as a visual timetable and the likes.

Hi av1998 If you re not already then I would encourage you to have your child be assessed by a sensory integration specialist. They will be able to advise you best in terms of a therapeutic approach to improving your child's quality of life. You should keep a record of the specific noises that cause him distress and his reaction to them. Your therapist will find this helpful. Typically a short term approach would be the use of headphones . You can play music that he likes on a low volume. You can try and eliminate as much as possible the specific noises such as a squeaky door, doorbell etc. you can also have a white noise machine in the room to help him feel more comfortable. Lots of mothers use them for new born babies to soothe them. Also use of a social stories to help him understand why noises upset him and what he can do do if he feels upset can be reassuring. Good luck with it.

Yes I was there a couple of weeks ago. The place is great but the actual planetarium was not working so we had to go to dinolive and the Lego area instead. The staff were very nice and the kids enjoyed it but obviously the problems still exist. Best to phone ahead on the day to make sure it's working.

Hi. I'm in the same situation. Eventually found the benecol yoghurt drinks in choithram in the greens and occasionally in spinneys meadows. The ingredient that makes them work is stanol esther ( spelling ?). You only need one serving of that a day. You can get benecol butter spread which also has this ingredient. I have seen it in most supermarkets.

I agree with mairam that listening therapy is generally used as part of a prescribed programme of therapy for children with various learning and sensory needs. It is not a cure but can be helpful for the child in ways which I have mentioned below. It is always adviseable to have the child assessed by an educational psychologist first before trying any therapies. As with all therapies the results are unique as are the children who avail of them. The personal listening program was not expensive if it is something you do choose to try. The pro version is however and probably would be quite confusing for the user without proper advice and guidance.

hi disastrous d, could you please share with me the name of the program on the iPad or you can call me on 0504587712 No problem. It is EASe personal listening . It's on iTunes app store. I am still using it and liking it a lot. Hope it helps. Just to add if you are planning on using it with a qualified therapist to guide you you are better off with the full program EASe pro. They can help you add more music and settings more tailored to your child's needs. edited by disastrous d on 28/04/2013

I am currently using this therapy with a Five year old as part of a sensory rich diet for sensory integration difficulties. I find it helps with attention and concentration while doing specific tasks. It regulates behaviour and is very useful for when the child is over stimulated or worked up about something. It has helped to improve visual attention and encourages the child to ignore environmental distractions. It needs to be used consistently while the child applies themself to a puzzle, a game or writing etc. it helps with coordination and balance I find when using it to do tasks which require the child to be moving around. I am not familiar with the specific program offered by the pulse listening centre. The one I use is downloaded onto an iPad . It is expensive and it is important to be shown how to use it properly by an occupational therapist or specialist.

I use one of the salons at Dubai mall and I find them excellent for highlights. I'm really fussy about no roots showing and keeping my hair in good condition. Last month I paid 650 for full head of highlights, trim and blow dry. I am definitely paying more than some other salons charge however I feel it is worth it. I have tried other more expensive salons too but I still continue to go to the Dubai mall for the consistent quality of cut and colour. Their conditioning treatments are not that expensive either.

I see dr Muna Hassan at Dubai Mall Medical Centre but I think she also works in one of the government hospitals in Dubai. I have been seeing her for almost a year and I find her to be very professional and thorough. she sees me every 1.5 months to see how my treatment is going and there has been huge improvement. She is is not quick to prescribe strong medication without trying other forms of treatment first. She is usually very busy but I doubt you would have to wait very long for an appointment. Good luck!

I highly recommend Kids In Motion in Healthcare city. I have had experience of other centres mentioned below and the ABA therapists are not all qualified to western university standards. All the therapists at KIM are highly trained and qualified. They offer a really friendly environment for both parents and children.

I had a package delivered to my us shop and ship on August 8th but aramex could not find it and said it was never received. Because it was sent via us mail there was no record of delivery. Aramex were very unhelpful on the phone. They didn't phone back when they agreed to. I got onto the seller who agreed to courier another package free of charge and I did receive this one thankfully in good time. Today to my surprise I received an email from aramex telling me I can now pay for my shipment and it is in the area for delivery. So they obviously found it. I have no intention of paying for it twice.

Hi Irish I'm living in the greens for a year now. I love it. Your kids will be able to walk to school at the Regent. You have everything on your doorstep from banks, restaurants and groceries. Lots of kids around for your boys to socialise with. Short drive to marina, jbr and mall of emirates. Taxis are really cheap if you don't have a second car. Some of the apartments are quite dated but the ones in the views overlooking the golf course are really modern. They tend to be more expensive though. In fact a three bed modern apartment in the marina was slightly less than a three bed in the greens. But I prefer the greens because it has a nice safe feeling to it with everything in walking distance and less traffic etc. I'd highly recommend it. Best of luck with the move!?

I am in the same predicament as you. I have never had a problem with shop and ship and have ordered from etsy just recently and it arrived very quickly. But my most recent order through amazon never arrived. The seller sent it to NY PO box via regular mail and it should have arrived aug 6th. A month later I am still trying to follow up with both parties. The guy in aramex told me that when a package is sent through normal post as opposed to courier they often encounter problems with missing packages. Unless the seller has proof of postage and they follow up with us mail system. It's very frustrating. I'm reluctant to order same product again as I have no guarantee I will receive it.

Thank you for your info ladies. I have since spoken to Emaar who has said they will waive the 5000 deposit if we sign a public liability form in the event of an accident. The 30 aed per hour still stands but they have said that this charge is to be paid by the personal trainer. Obviously I will end up paying it but I don't agree with it. I am already paying to use the facilities and I don't see why I should have to pay Emaar to have someone come and coach me. He doesn't use the machines or facilities, it's a very quiet gym so there is never disruption to other residents. Emaar have said it is a community charge and that I have to book a regular time slot to be able to avail of using a personal trainer. This is ridiculous. I should be allowed to use the gym whenever I wish and also my work hours mean I can't commit to certain days or times. I have emailed them again to see if they can be flexible so I will wait and see.?

My thoughts exactly. Seems like a bit of a money making opportunity. I will make a point of asking anyone I see using a swimming coach or trainer and feed back. I also use agency maids for three hours every week but have not been asked for a letter for them. I may have to sneak in the personal trainer through basement parking. Lol!!

He can use his own gym but it suits me better to have it in my building. I'm not sure how motivated I would be if I had to go all the way to his gym. I was just wondering if anyone else knows if this is a new rule or have their trainers been denied access. I often see other trainers in the gym doing personal training so I assume others have been asked for this letter.

The quality of the coffee is excellent . The machines here are slightly more expensive than in Europe. I got mine in August and it was approx 1800aed. It may have changed since. I have the magimix model with the foamer attachment. The pods work out at 2.5 aed each. But again slightly less expensive in other countries. It might be worth shop and shipping it. Sorry I don't have exact prices.
