If you are covered, I also recommend Dr. Elsas. She delivered my two babies and I love her! She is expensive though...we had to pay out a lot extra for things our insurance didn't cover but for me totally worth it ?

Hi Ladies. We moved to a small bungalow in al Barsha last August after living in an apartment for many years. We love it here but are struggling with ants. The only thing suggested to me from the man in Ace hardware was a powder which is toxic to children and pets. I have a four year old, a newborn and a cat so am not willing to use anything like that. Any have any suggestions? Something less toxic that actually works? If we leave the smallest amount of crumbs on the floor we have a swarm in no time. They seem to just come in under our front and balcony door. Would love to hear any suggestions! They are driving me crazy and my daughter and I have already been bitten!

I would suggest Mirdif too. Good value in housing for money. Near to Repton too. I used to work in school in Sharjah and commute from Dubai. Never had an issue with traffic as Aganthie says you are going to opposite way against the traffic. Most people are heading into dubai when you'll be heading into Sharjah. Good luck with your move!

Graco my size 65. Available from souk.com is rear facing until 18kg which should be until your child is at least three. I have two! Great seat and easy to use. Can use isofix or belt. Then forward facing until they outgrow the seat at a whopping 65lb! It's a five point harness which is much better than a high back booster. X

We were intrigued too. Drove out. Definitely a very long commute. No shop etc nearby. Houses far too close to each other and no proper parking. Didn't think finish was good for a new build either. I suggest you take a drive out just to satisfy your curiosity. ?

I've increased my nanny's salary by 100 aed per month each year. For her birthday we usually give her 100 aed in a card. We also give her extra cash at Christmas and a few hundred in the summer as a bonus. We've had her for three years and she and we are very happy with this arrangement. ?

Schools have no real say about the holidays they take any more. Most schools have lost full weeks in October and February next year. Most schools are also back on January 3rd which is very early. Children need the holidays. Now expats are forced to travel at ridiculously expensive times. Such a shame :(

You can get them in Lulus in Al Barsha on the clothing floor in baby section. You can also buy them in Babyshop. We used them with our lo and found them very successful. Good luck!

I know there's a nursery called Little Hands in Fitness First Gym in Downtown, not sure if the offer the service though. Go you, going to gym with a baby at 7 weeks. I think I was still I my pyjamas at that stage! ? Think Dubai Ladies Club have a creche though not for babies that young I think...

It's a fabulous area but do check the apartments as some are very small and dark, especially in old town. Personally, I love downtown and can't wait until the weather cools a bit so we can all to Burj park every night again!
