Toronto's winter weather will seem like summer compared to Winnipegs' cold! lol My cousins in peg always laugh at us when we are freazing as their nearly doubly cold. Anyways, some other interesting things to do in Toronto in December: Casa Loma - usually has Santa breakfast and other xmas festivities starting end of November Pioneer village - sleigh ride, ginger bread decorating and santa breakfast Disney on Ice - is pretty much there every year and is fantastic! Farms in Orangeville - tons and lots of cool xmas trees decorated with carolers etc. If you go to Niagara Falls, there the Wolf Lodge there now (indoor water park) thats year round. My kids still also get a kick out of the butterfly conservatory and the bird kingdom. Have fun! I love Toronto in December!

Sounds like you'll have a blast if you do a stopover on your way to what DH calls Winterpeg LOL! (I'm current sitting in the departure lounge waiting to start my journey to Canada (different part to you)) I think I'd rather be doing the other part too!!

Where are you heading to (just being nosy :)) Actually heading to Winnipeg to spend xmas with DH family. We have to fly through Toronto so thought we would stop over for a few days. Never been to Canada before and thought I would hate to go all that way and only see Winnipeg (which isn't the most exciting place in Canada!!) Although am looking forward to a massive WHITE xmas!!! Will def rug up and just make the most of it, the kids will be excited the only snow they've seen is ski Dubai!!

I agree with the PP! How old are the kids? If they are under 6 I don't suggest the Art gallery of Ontario because it is kind of boring for them. The ROM is more entertaining and there are things to talk about there. I would highly recommend the Ontario Science Center. It is geared for kids IMO and I used to take my girls there a couple times a year.

Thanks Emm9, I have done a bit of research too and have decided that we could probably spend a few days there as a stop-over point

Niagara Falls also isn`t too far from there, if you want to do some sightseeing outdoors.

Have you been before? There are underground tunnels that go from the Eaton's Centre to the sky dome. There are shops, hotels, sometimes bands playing down there. It's called "The path", (it's heated) and connects malls and subways (and the Roger's Centre, Sky Dome and CN Tower). It's an interesting way to kill a few hours if you don't mind walking. You can also visit the CN Tower, and eat at the 360 resturant around sunset for the veiw. There is public skating at Toronto City hall too, the kids should enjoy that. You could visit the Art Gallary of Ontario, the Royal Ontario Museum and the Ontario Science Centre in Toronto. Medieval Times is also good fun. You get to eat dinner while watching a live jousting competition. Get your self a double/double from Timmies, and enjoy! :D edited by Emm9 on 13/07/2011
