Hi Ladies,

I've suddenly got the urge to go Christmas shopping at the markets in Europe! Any suggestions as to which ones are the best?

TIA

Wow! This sounds like so much fun... I am now thinking of taking my family there for the christmas holidays. Can someone recommend the best market to go to with little kids 5 and 8? and also any recommendation on where to stay? how long to stay? where to fly into? Sorry for all the questions... But I have no clue but would love to visit a real christmas market and see real snow:) and not in Disneyland lol. Thank you ladies in advance. Truly appreciated

I second Prague, Vienna or Salzburg. I think they are all magnificent.

Went to Nuremberg markets a few days before Christmas last year and must say amazing but crowded. All the river cruises send their tour buses there. It does add to the atmosphere!

Vienna is truly magical at Christmas. All the little markets (and some not so big) scattered throughout the city are a real delight. Each market has its own personality. And the Christmas lights strung along the Inner Stadt. The food and cakes in the restaurants and coffeehouses! I would gladly go to Vienna every weekend in December if I could. Nuremberg is the biggest Christmas market in Europe and all the German cities have their own glorious markets, but I do think Vienna is special and it's much more convenient to fly to from Dubai than most of the German cities as Austrian Airways often has quite reasonable flights.
