I also agree with the Crieff Hydro. We started going there 30 years ago when I was little! Really lovely place, great family feel and loads of activities. I love it so much I got married there! Have been since having children myself and had a great time.

Creiff Hydro is great. My grandparents lived in Bridge of Allen (very close by) and there is lots to do. You can walk up The Wallace Monument. The park in Bridge of Allen is great and has the best ice cream shop. Stirling Castle is near by. I spend many a happy summer there.

We did a 2-week family tour of Scotland last year and had a great time. We stayed in family rooms in hotels including: Oban (Ranald Hotel) Fort William (The Lime Tree - excellent food) Skye (The Flodigarry Hotel) Inverness (Premier Inn) Edinburgh (Premier Inn) Glasgow (Premier Inn) Premier Inns are not particularly exciting but the family rooms were good value and the one in Edinburgh is in a great location on Princess St - ask for a view of the castle. We saw the fireworks every night for the Edinburgh tattoo from the window. Bits the kids really enjoyed were a boat tour from Oban out to Tobermory (or Balamory as my kids know it :)) the outlying islands, walking through the foothills of Ben Nevis where they filmed Harry Potter, the ferry up to Skye, Skye itself which was just fantastic (walking up to the Fairy Pools, eagle spotting etc), a dolphin trip on the Firth of Forth, a visit to the Culloden museum, a visit to the reindeer herds just outside Aviemore and the Edinburgh Festival where they have lots of fringe shows for the kids and they actually got to go up on stage. Thoroughly recommend the trip, enjoy :)

I would highly recommend Crieff Hydro - kids club, lots of activities like mountain biking and pony rides. there is an indoor pool and entertainment in the evenings (dancing, magic show etc) Lodge on the Loch is a good base for Loch Lomond too Generally - check out the visit Scotland website. There are lots of good tips on there :)
