Cafelate, Are you dealing with Network? Normally they get in touch with you first and inform you that the customer has queried a debited amount, and can you verify the actual transaction by providing a receipt with a signature. This has happened to us a few times, where the customer had forgotten about the transaction, tried to pull a fast one or their card was stolen. They don't normally take the funds out without contacting you first, but it can happen. Check your bank statement regularly, mistakes are sometimes made, and keep your credit transaction receipts for around 6 months for such eventualities. Do you have CCTV? If you have the credit card transaction receipt with the signature they will get back in touch with the customer and refund you. edited by Alismum on 17/03/2014

I had a bit of a look a few times, but sometimes the picture looked as if it was clouds I was looking at rather than sea. Have they put the satellite images on there of the Indian ocean as well??

Prayers and thoughts for the families of all those missing. Just read that the two stolen passports were used by Iranians who were seeking asylum in Europe. A young man of 19, his mum was meeting him in Frankfurt and he was using one of the stolen passports. The definition does say some degree of planning involved/previous consideration, but you are right who knows and it's at the judges discretion ultimately. Premeditation Legal Definition: (US not SA) [url=http://www.duhaime.org/LegalDictionary/P/Premeditation.aspx'>link[/url'> [i'>"Premeditation means the defendant formed the specific intent to kill the victim for some period of time, however short, before the actual killing. Deliberation means that the intent to kill was formed while defendant was in a cool state of blood and not under the influence of a violent passion suddenly aroused by sufficient provocation. Significantly, however, cool state of blood does not mean an absence of passion and emotion. Rather, under state law, a defendant may deliberate, may premeditate although prompted and to a large extent controlled by passion at the time. Indeed, if the design to kill was formed with deliberation and premeditation, it is immaterial that defendant was in a passion or excited when the design was carried into effect. Thus a killing committed during the course of a quarrel or scuffle may yet constitute first degree murder provided the defendant formed the intent to kill in a cool state of blood before the quarrel or scuffle began and the killing during the quarrel was the product of this earlier formed intent. Additionally, it is sufficient that the processes of premeditation and deliberation occur prior to, and not simultaneously with, the killing."[/i'>

QueenL, he IS being tried for pre-meditated murder, those are the charges against him. . So does this mean that if he is found not guilty for pre-meditated murder, then he might not get a lesser charge, that the verdict is either guilty of pre-meditated murder or accident, those are the two options? If this is the case then he could be let off scot free.

I think perhaps there was some sort of altercation, threats from OP and she ran into the bathroom with her phone (?), locked the door and she may have threatened to call the police, or expose something about him. In a fit of anger (or panic at what could ensue) shots were fired. Realizing what he had done and probably with remorse, he tried to cover his tracks saying he thought he was shooting an intruder. I don't think it was pre-meditated, more a crime of passion. I don't know anything about the SA legal system, also not sure what the outcome might be, but I would think not guilty to murder, but guilty to manslaughter maybe????. edited by Alismum on 07/03/2014

For your PC, if you have Chrome, there's an extension for UKTV and an extension for a VeePee-N. Firefox probably have the same as well. Works fine (little bit of lag sometimes). edited by Alismum on 03/03/2014

On Dubizzle if you do a search for Arabic Tutor, there are quite a few,not sure if they are near SC though, but maybe they will come to your home. SimpleDimple, you might have missed the boat. They gave 3 months to revert back to the old package when they introduced it back on 1st Sept. Speaking of… I posted an ad for a house maid in the classified section of EW and i got the weirdest and funniest response yesterday. The call was about 930ish and the number on the caller ID was a +44 and the woman who spoke claimed she was from Thailand and was working for a local lady but the lady is now ill and has to go to the US for treatment so she is looking for a new mistress. She went on to tell me she was a servant and enjoyed being a servant and thats all she's ever wanted to be! She claimed that in order to be a good fit for our family she had to be our slave literally and if thats what I was looking for??? I tried to take the call serious but it truly wasn't… It had to be a prank. The stuff this lady was saying was crazy… she was like i have to rub your feet every day and I have to serve you. I was like thanks lady but NO one deserves to be anyones slave and NO we would NOt be a good fit. Anyways just an FYI, these forums are really not as secure as we think they r and beware of the woman wanting to be a SLAVE. Hot Chocolate, I am having a feeling of deja vu, I am sure someone mentioned a similar call a while back after advertising for a maid. Can anyone else remember, or did I dream it :)

Definitely a good business to be in. When I visited here around 10 years ago, there were a few schools that were quite inexpensive, around 8-15,000AED per year. A couple years later these schools were closed, given a bit of a revamp, lick of paint etc. and when reopened the fees were 5-6 times higher, and they had no problem getting bums on seats. edited by Alismum on 11/02/2014

And they say my sons can't come into the bathroom with me? Who says that? My eldest came into the loos with me until he was about 11, and thereafter I stood outside the male toilets for him. I will do the same for my youngest as well til he's about 11-12. I have seen ladies fully covered bring in their sons with them.

Cornish Pixie is right, it's about 20 mins. I saw the cyclists ride down JBR on Thurs whilst waiting for the school bus. There was traffic down Al Sofouh road up until about 5 mins before the cyclists, then the police stopped the traffic and the cyclists took about 10 mins to pass by, after that within about 5 mins the traffic was up and running again and the police left. Yes there was a bit of a backlog, and the bus was late because it took a different route, but really it wasn't as bad as it had been portrayed. In fact I thought it all ran smoothly to be honest. I hope that Saturday runs just as well down SZR and you manage to get to your appointment in time. Leave a little bit earlier.

[u'>Investigations reveal ‘no incident’ of kidnapping attempt at Mall of Emirates[/u'> [i'>The statement described a case of a misunderstanding that was brought on with a “distressed” child that was assisted by a couple in locating its parent. Don't know anymore details but according to The National, the management of MOE confirmed the incident and it's now being reviewed by the police who are investigating. Will have to wait and see. [i'>“The mall has visible and accessible presence of security across all public areas, in addition to monitoring cameras, which are operating 24/7. “The student from Jebel Ali School is well and safe. Twirl, I would take her for the first year, then consider it again for next year, especially since you have a car. If I had a car myself then I would drive my kids to school. My youngest son was in FS2 when he started going on bus (I have no car). I took him on the metro for the first term and it was a real slog, so I spoke to the bus folks (STS), the other class mums whose kids travelled by bus and the teacher and decided to go ahead and put him on the bus. In FS1 and FS2, they are escorted to and from the bus and into the classroom by the conductor/helper, but from Grade 1 they go alone from bus to class (the teacher/assistant takes them to the bus in the afternoon). TBH I'm glad I put him on the bus, as some of his classmates are already on there and he sits near some little boys on the bus who he really likes. The driver has been the same guy the whole 3 years and the Filipino bus conductor (woman) is lovely and really strict with the kids. All the buses have CCTVs and AC. It's a 25 min trip. edited by Alismum on 16/01/2014

Did Dubai get into the Guinness Book Records then? I was waiting for Dubai One to announce it last night but never heard anything. We watched the fireworks from the window and it all stopped at around 6 mins past 12 and I thought that was it, so I went to make something to eat and then the Palm started at around 20 past 12 when I was in the kitchen. Not sure if it was meant to be timed as such, but the palm fireworks were SPECTACULAR, best display I have ever seen.

You could go and sit on the beach in JBR. We always do this. I hear the best firework display will be on the palm this year, they are going for the Guinness Book records I believe, so you should be able to see everything from the beach. You could also nip to the Kite Beach near the Burj Al Arab, I hear they have a good view from there. http://www.emirates247.com/news/emirates/6-perfect-spots-to-watch-dubai-s-sunrise-at-midnight-nye-fireworks-2013-12-26-1.532487 edited by Alismum on 29/12/2013
