I like to eat raw food now and again, and often do my own sprouting. Can you let me have the recipe for berry pie if you have it please.

Thanks GM, So the big RTA boat I see parked near the marina mall is the taxi, or the ferry? Had a look at that schedule but am still not sure where it ends up. Can I get off along the way or do I get off at the end of the trip (after 1 hour). I am not familiar with Al Ghubaiba, is that where I get off?. Wouldn't bother me if it wasn't so hot, I like mystery tours, but have to plan a bit better with this heat. Am definitely gonna do a trip with my kids, they keep asking me to take them on it. I suggest you click on the details and you'll be able to see that it is the Dubai Ferry service that makes a stop at Marina Mall. Check their map routes and stops - you'll be able to pick what you suits you best. Thanks GM, am gonna give it a go this week and take the kids somewhere different. :)

We wasted hours down at the Creek regarding Water Taxis and, to be honest, they are still a bit of a mystery. The best thing we have done with all our guests is to take the Ferry on a Friday morning when they swap over from the Creek to the Marina - one way journey only. Leave your car at the Heritage Village car park on a Friday morning and walk down to the Ferry dock (outside Ministry of Finance building and just up from the Abra Station). Catch the 11am Ferry to the Marina (50 dhs per passenger I think) - great views of the skyline in comfortable seats and toilets on board. At the Marina, walk back to the Metro Station (Metro starts at 1pm on a Friday so have lunch and drink on the way at one of the cafes) and take the Metro back to Deira Creek (Al Ghubaiba Station is the nearest). I am desperate for more visitors so that I can do this trip again. Oakfield I want to take my kids on the RTA water transport as well (but the opposite direction to you). If we were to get on at the marina (is this the ferry you are talking about, the RTA one?) where does it go to?, where should we get off? is it near a metro station at the other end? We don't want to have to walk very far in this heat.

Ahh havent found anything bellow 10k Even in discovery gardens its 9k but without taxes so after taxes would me kinda the same :( MommyO, are you talking about Hotel Appts.? Check out this site for short term rentals http://www.justrentals.com If you put in 'monthly' you will see that DG start at 5K per month JLT about 5-6K per month, I saw a marina appt for around 6K (although most around 8K). Greens 6-7K Just to also say that if you shop around you CAN find cheaper than this site for short-term (furnished) rentals edited by Alismum on 07/07/2012

With regards to the furnished short term lets, I think most have all the facilities bills/AC etc included. Check out Dubizzle short term for rent. I saw some as low as 2,500 AED per month for a furnished studio in DG. Also ask Hilsbils if she is around, she had a good look to see what is recently available short term and may be able to give you some searching tips :) ETA: when checking out Dubizzle, just be aware that some of the prices show up as weekly prices (e.g .7,000AED) when they actually mean monthly edited by Alismum on 06/07/2012

funny maybe you can explain why anyone would be interessted in "stars" and their lifes ... I coulsn't care less. And each time anyone wants to tell me anything about a "famous" person he'/she gets that blank look from me as I really really don't know whom they talk about... I think this one is more than just the life of stars (there's a whole lot of other things involved), normally I am not interested in celeb gossip either.

CB, I agree when we were students we ate anything (but it was in cooler climes for me anyway). I have refrozen chicken, and cooked it and have been fine, but this one has DO NOT REFREEZE in large lettering on the front (daft me for not looking in first place) and it is getting on for 50C outside. Hmmm what to do.. bin or DH ;) DH for the first piece, see what happens and then you can decide whether to bin the other piece! You are right, just did a sniff test and smells OK, looks firm and succulent. Surely gotta be fine. Will cook it and give it to DH.

I wonder sometimes whether it is the chicken that has been cooked badly, or left to stand too long, or cooked and reheated badly etc which is the one we get sick from? Ive never heard of a case of anyone getting sick from re-freezing good chicken. But Im sure there are reasons. Anyway, serious chicken poisoning is very serious and can shut your vital organs down and ... eek. I had it once quite recently (bought a take-away and then left it a bit and then at it) and I can honestly say I have never been sicker in my life!! I wanted to die.... seriously ..... it was **** for 2 days. So I am so wary now of the cooked variety which I havent cooked myself, and since I dont eat any red meat am considering cutting chicken out too. With proper preparation you should be fine with those but cook them well and eat immediately. edited by hilsbils on 01/07/2012 edited by hilsbils on 01/07/2012 Hilsbils, I'm not sure about the refreezing thing either. I mean if it's cooked thoroughly should be OK no? Mind you, you never know how it's handled in the shops prior to buying. All the cases in the newspapers lately of death by food poisoning, they have always been due to eating chicken, some with rice. Could it be they left it out on the table and then reheated it? If it was beef, lamb I wouldn't give it a second thought.

all a cover up, isn't that what they say? yep they sure do, a bit like Heidi Klum and Seal and their renewed wedding vows every year. Seal isn't gay though, is he? lol didn't realise you meant gay, thought you meant they put on a show for publicity, whilst hiding a failing marriage.

F31 goes from Springs (various stops) to Internet City Metro station, which takes 22 minutes, then you would need to get to Jebel Ali with metro. Go here http://wojhati.rta.ae and click on Timetable on the right hand side, and put F31 in the service.

Hi Alismum, Thanks for your reply- the problem is that the application will be made in the UK at the Passport office in London. The threads to the forms below are for overseas renewals via Dusseldorf. The only way I have found to get this form is to complete it online and have them post it back to you (but this has to be to an address in the UK) or get an original form the SE04 from a UK passport office. We need to have the form completed here to be countersigned before we go to the passport office - but getting hold of this form is proving to be very difficult! Sorry didn't realise this. Hope you are able to sort things out before your trip next week.

I think either your mother in law needs to be invited much less for much shorter holidays with you so that your schedule/money/efforts arent wasted on the wrong person and also DH needs to know how unacceptable this is. I'm hoping hes the understanding type who will agree with you and stand up for you on this one? Invited???? Guests normally turn up at my place, generally with a days notice. Think it's probably the same with Irooni. I wonder how many times she invited her MIL lol Wow nobody would dare visit us like that thats just not right, unless you dont mind it of course but I cant imagine anyone being ok with guests arriving unannounced. Tis true Hugsys, sometimes they ask, sometimes they ring saying they'll be at the airport tomorrow such and such a time and can we pick them up. 'Mia casa e sua casa' sort of thing. I am used to it now.

Wow, great help ladies. I got one tel number off the EW listings here (which are quite high... 10k for a 1 bed in JBR?!) but now looking at Discovery which seems so reasonable. I wanted a gym but there is one in Ibn Battuta too. This website OLX is new, but seems good HB, I remember when we were looking for relatives for short term rental, DG was the cheapest, and to be honest it's not too bad for a couple months.

Eli, I haven't tried that colour remover, but if you do a google it will tell you how to dye something effectively that has bleach stains. As for finding it, what about Ace Hardware or one of the big Spinney's or Waitrose or maybe Magrudy's on Jumeirah Beach Road (04-344-4193 [email protected] ). They used to have Dylon Dyes in Waitrose in Marina Mall, but I don't see a variety of colours nowadays. Also perhaps some places stock a different brand like Rit dye. Sorry I can't be more helpful, it's not something I noticed whilst shopping lately.
