i got one tonight - will test it out tomorrow night and will report back Which brand did you buy in the end? I just made a couple batches with my recipe down below, put one in thermos (like Jeeves said) and one in pan wrapped in towel at 4pm on the balcony and both are lovely and thick already. The one in the thermos is still warm I have to say, so maybe the better method, thanks Jeeves. Will know tomorrow. Good luck with yours Izzy let us know. Did you get organic milk then? Do you have to keep it plugged in for 5 hours or more? I wonder if it's possible to make it from camel milk, I hear it's really good for you. edited by Alismum on 20/04/2014

Thanks all.... I think i will invest in one :) Someone mentioned to go for the one with glass jars, that the ones with plastic containers are not so good (some chemical in the plastic??) I would buy myself one, but I have so many plastic gadgets in my cupboard that I'm gonna need a skip if ever I have to leave here.

Spook regarding an area to live, If you were thinking of an apartment, with your budget you would get a 2 bed Marina Apartment in one of the nicer towers, MarinaScape or one of the original 5. You could get a 3 bedroom in some towers in the Marina such as Waves, Princess Tower, maybe not the ones in Marina Walk. You might get a 3 bed JBR for that price as well, most are around 200K mind you, but I have seen them for the price you are looking for. JLT is a bit cheaper, and for your budget you will probably be able to get a nice large 3 bed in one of the best JLT towers, maybe even a 4 bed (I have seen a few, not sure about the towers mind you). If you were thinking of a villa not too far from Marina/JLT, then you may get a Springs 3 bedroom within your budget. Not sure of the villas in the Lakes. HTH

I don't have a yogurt maker but if it's easier than making your own, then let us know. I like home made yogurt. Here's an easy method I use without yogurt maker, if anyone has any better ways, then please tell. Irooni how do you make it? 1. Boil full fat creamy milk in pan (1 litre) 2. Place pan in cold water 3. When you can put your little finger in the milk and count up to 15 secs it's ready 4. Put in 3 tblspoons of yoghurt (with culture) and mix 5. Put lid on pan and wrap in towel 6. Place on balcony overnight If you like it a bit creamy, add couple teaspoons powdered milk at stage 4. edited by Alismum on 20/04/2014

If I'm paying to be pampered then chatting to colleagues is not part of the package, so yes I would be bothered. I mean you never know what they could be saying ;) "Here's that big fat beached whale again" "Wonder if the ugly beach is gonna tip me" "Wonder what her husband sees in her, hmmm wonder what his address is?" "Look at the wrinkles on that, she needs more than just a facial" "Here's that hairy monster again, I could fill a wig with the hairs from her legs" "I hope she's not going to ask me for a full Brazilian next" edited by Alismum on 18/04/2014

Would she be interested in doing a bit of volunteering, is she mobile? I have been to some events and not all the volunteers are young. What are her interests?. Does she knit, there's a club (free) I saw called knit and knatter (if she can't knit they will teach her), all different ages & nationalities doing knitting projects to help others, eg blankets for Syrian refugees, orphanages, premature babies amongst other things . [url= https://7daysindubai.com/family-30/'>link[/url'> As for 55 being old, I think 50 is the new 40 (not that I'm there myself yet ;) ), so that would make 55 about middle aged. Desert Rose, sounds like you have a spring in your step, congrats on your business and good luck!!!! edited by Alismum on 17/04/2014

Well i'm with AA on this and not going to let two posters with hardly any posts to their name and one with 30 odd posts dictate ow the forum should run. That is the job of the administration. The changes are refreshing and innovative. I'd prefer to be helpful, ad some humour then be a miserable troll. If admin weren't happy, would any of us be here today, using these names ;) edited by Geordie expat on 17/04/2014 Dont give them ideas or you will have splinters in your bum before you can say nuahgty chair Didn't there used to be a member called Geordie expat, whatever happened to her?? ;)

Personally I think the biggest change is the fact you can't discuss current affairs. It makes the board look like a bored housewives playground if you can't discuss what's going on in the world. I agree with this :)

When I lived in England and Europe I left my husband many times to visit my family whilst he worked. I filled the freezer up with Tescos specials or homemade meals and left him enough clean clothes. When I came back after 2 or 3 weeks, the house was always a tip and it took me two or three days to do a full clean up job. Here you will be able to hire a cleaner. No problemo really. Have fun. edited by Alismum on 17/04/2014

Dubai International Academy is near Springs, not far from JLT (15 mins drive). Emirates International School not too far (Meadows) and Dubai British School (Meadows). What age are your children, if younger there's Jebel Ali primary school. What would be your budget with regards to accommodation?

I think the stars and the thumbs are an EW ploy to get people posting again in the hope of getting thumbs and stars. I can't say I particularly like it but it's got this stagnant board moving again so I think it's done its job. I think people will be more put off by tumbleweeds than "nonsense" IMO of course :D I recently researched "how to revive a dying forum" (not for this one, I hasten to add !! lol) and one of the top 5 suggestions was "introduce a new feature". EW have clearly been doing the same research !! lol What were the other four then? LOL !! One was interesting - pay for posts !! :D http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=241673 edited by Doubting Thomas on 16/04/2014 Very interesting, I guess all forums need some sort of reinvention from time to time, a bit like Madonna :)

I don't know what the other ladies think, or whether it would be a good course of action, but you could speak to the owner of the Estate Agency first and tell him that you intend to go to the police to file a case of fraud and you have all their company info/license details, copies of cheques etc, you never know, the money (or appt) might suddenly materialize when they think there is a possibility of trading license being taken away, or being taken to court for fraud. If you do go straight to the police to file a case, don't forget to take all the license info and if you need the RERA number a quick google will find it (I saw it already) Good luck!!!! edited by Alismum on 15/04/2014

I saw fake birds, I think it was Daiso. They were on the end of a stick and you put the stick in your plant pot and they would chirp when the soil was dry They were more like parrots though, although some of them could have passed for doves.

Perhaps ask someone whose going to the UK or Australia if they will give her dirhams for some. I wouldn't mind some coins myself if I was going home, is it pennies or pound coins? (UK money) . Or if she is feeling generous, she could put some in the collection boxes in the malls.

Reckon she just wants to avoid your child's party. Maybe she is trying for a kid of her own and feels frustrated that it isn't happening? Maybe she just doesn't like children's parties? She has her own children. The death happened a very long time ago and the sensitivity was never mentioned when my son was born. Should I change our plans ? I mean the actual birthdate isn't going to change but we are celebrating on the actual day this year. I have never thought to remember my own fathers departure date .In life he was the type to think that death should not take away happiness of life. She is your sister-in-law??, have a word with her, perhaps suggest lighting a candle for her mum in the garden at the end of the birthday party as a gesture. I would really appreciate it if someone did this for my mum.

I just LOVE this. Bravo Dubai. When this development was planned it didn't seem like a good idea but it looks great down there now. Really nice with the restaurants overlooking the sea. LOVE the open air cinema. Me too I really like it down there, am impressed. It will be great when all the shops/restaurants are open. Wonder if they are gonna open a Starbucks :) Have to see how it's gonna be sat outside watching a movie in the 45oF degree heat though. I'm pretty hardened to this weather but I have walked out in middle of summer in JBR on an evening and it is hot hot hot!!!! edited by Alismum on 13/04/2014

My sons school won't allow any food products, even chocolates. Once I gave a huge box chocolates but it came back. Most parents in the class buy little items from Daiso (or similar place) like pencil sharpeners, erasers, little notebooks, diaries... things like that. edited by Alismum on 06/04/2014

I guess while they have built the stage they want to make use of it every night. Don't the organisers realise there are residential buildings everywhere around? Why don't they entertain people on the beach with music during the day instead? We wake up before 7 tomorrow, I'm ill and need my 8 hours sleep. At least my LO seems not to hear it. I'm really upset, we've just renewed our rent in October. When they were building this complex only mall and cinema were mentioned, but not disco and live concerts. Now it's even worse than Meydan beach. There are so many families with children living in JBR, if it goes on like this there will be a mass exodus from here. Hope you got your sleep, actually it wasn't too bad, concert finished at 11pm last night.

Alemania, I wondered if you were going to come on. It is loud isn't it, female singer at the moment. The article did say next concert 23rd, I didn't expect it tonight as well. Maybe it means it will go on until 23rd. What about all those who have to get up for work tomorrow? Bet it's gonna finish around midnight. I am not an early to bed person myself, but I have had to move my little boy to another room where it's quieter cos he can't sleep.

It was loud and I am one of the 'front liners' looking directly onto it, but it was a good concert nonetheless for those who went to see it. Perhaps it's just a one off concert but if it isn't, I hope they only keep these concerts for a weekend. In a month or so I doubt it will be cool enough even at that time to stand outside for 2/3 hours, so some reprieve coming :) Also I think the Sunday concert has changed to Monday for those wanting to go [url=http://gulfnews.com/arts-entertainment/celebrity/free-concerts-at-the-beach-dubai-marina-1.1303575'>link[/url'> [i'> Dates have changed for free concerts at the new shopping, food and entertainment complex on the beach at Jumeirah Beach Residence.
