really?! out the vagina? they may travel there but the discomfort/irritation must start in the anus...I have heard of no worms that come out of the vagina initially, and as the OP's post was about itching 'there' why would we immediately guess a problem with worms 'here'? Most worms come out to lay their eggs at night on the rim of the anus and you will know when that happens...your chuld will be in extreme discomfort even if partially asleep...not clutching her front bits and complaining of itch during the day.

Worms! Most likely, take your child to the doctor not post on forum! Worms? In a childs vagina? Really? Last I heard worms were the provence of back bottoms.... Everyone else has given very sensible advice on this forum as to what the problem could be and also suggested seeing a doc to get it sorted out properly. The only reason for not posting on a forum would be to avoid advice like yours! *wanders off having REALLY heard it all now*

Ours has trebled this month (which I find hard to believe given I'm only watering every 3rd day, no a/c, and theres only one and half people living in the house) AND they seem to think we didnt pay it last month. pffft.

We have a 6 year old, and my consession to the modern world this summer was her DS. Both her dad and I think she is far too young for all the mod cons...some of her school friends have Ipods and iphones and goodness knows what else. But, while we are rather unashamedly old fashioned, we will have to make adjustments to the age. She will need a laptop of her own for school at some stage (I'm hoping not till about 12 years old, but for that I am just going to have to wait and see what the next 6 years bring us.) Princess could be right, she may well be missing out on all the bbming (whatever that is) and if it is effecting her abiltiy to make friends and having an impact on her, well...then I would have to consider getting her the BB. School, and girls of that age can be fraught enough without the added stress of just not fitting in because you don't have the 'right' stuff. Yep, we want to teach our children good old fashioned life lessons about what really is of value, but we'll just have to find other ways to underline that message I think. Maybe her Dad would come round if the BB was sold to him as a reward for her remarkable acheivements at school, and that one of the criteria for having it would be to earn and manage the money that goes on to it each month?

I cannot stand geant...the layout is all wrong for actual groceries and the meat section smells really bad. Their hypermarket bit has better range of stuff though usually. Tends to be vaguely cheaper from prices I have noted, but I just can't bring myself to do the shop there.

Once you've checked with your doctor that child is healthy and ok, and maybe lactose intolerant or whatever maybe the case, another thing that might be helpful at this age is to feed the solids first before formula...then they're just topping up with milk, but getting most of the neccessary from their solid diet.

Staying in dubai isn't going to be an option if the move goes ahead. It will either be that we go Muscat or 2 years of go back home. It looks like it will depend on getting a school place. Is there school buses? I don't mind not being able to go out and about too much as long as I have a nice home. I quite like the sound of Muscat and I don't mind leaving Dubai. no buses as such apparently (at least at our school)...I'm getting a driver for the school run, pretty easy to find a taxi driver who will commit to the daily pick up. (I don't drive either). Apparently some families in different areas do club together and hire a driver/van for the school run.

true princess, but a child died in Nz not so long ago (and it wasn't one of our horror story child killings either, of which 'we' seem to be getting a rep for) but an ordinary mum at home when the smallie drowned in a bucket. OK, not the same as leaving wee one at midnight to shop, but a clear example of how even the best most vigilent mum can have babe die on her in very 'ordinary' circumstances. I can't comment on the current case here, beause i just can't! It's outside my remit and my experience, but i know if the worst happened to our family, and I had done the best I could with my knowledge/experinec/education then, well I guess my guilt would kill me anyhow. :(

Lil miss wrote her letter, decorated it beautifully, and we're thinking, awww, what a good girl...she only asked for 2 dvds and a doll, '''and thats all I would like, thank you santa'". Until she decided to add to it and asked for a quad bike! ummm, unlikely chick, you refuse to take your training wheels off your bicycle, there is no way on gods good earth you will be getting a quad bike! and as far as reasons why not goes... thats just for starters :) I reckon the smallies don't really ask for much in their letters anyway, they have the attention span of gnats, write too large and fill in the page quickly, and just because they have asked for it doesnt mean in any way shape or form that santa is shelling out for it. Having said that...himself has taken over the christmas shopping as I tend to get a bit carried away with the stocking filler stuff :)

Before this thread it had honestly never occurred to me that any school would consider giving treat food to the children. Must be our no nonense approach to things, but the school has a healthy lunch box policy, the kids are allowed a 'treat' on thursdays...which is not allowed to be sweets, but a slice of cake or muffin or biscut type thing. If a parent wants to send in a birthday surprise for the class, it must be individually wrapped and labeled, and it's given to the kids at the end of the day to take home so their parents can decide if it will be eaten or not. Isnt it just common sense? and just by the by, this might occur about twice a term, so it's not a constant barrage of rubbish being foisted on us.

Try the, 'muscat buy and sell' page on facebook, as well as the offical opera house page on facebook, though Im not sure tickets are allowed to be re-sold the latter. I know Im repeating myself and people may be fed up of hearing it but :) The only way to ensure tickets for anything is to buy ahead for the entire season the day the tickets go on sale. Dont listen to people saying oh, there's no need to be buying 2/3 months ahead etc because the reality is that within days of going on sale most things are sold out and whats available thereafter isnt available for long. Also by buying for the season you get substantial discounts which can mean up to a third off your total bill for the season. It really is a fantastic night out and I hope you get your tickets. I would help if I could but I dont have any spare. And if you do manage to get here :) its become obvious as the performances have gone by that people are getting into the spirit of things and really dressing up for the night is the way to go. HTH :) I've MISSED you, where have you been? xxx PS: look out for me in your local C4 next month...I'll be the fish out of water looking one :)

When my daughter was very young (3ish) she always used to 'save' going to the toilet til she got home...and that was with ensuite loo's. Quite happy to pee there, but not poo...don't ask me why, but knowing her I'd say it had something to do with not wanting to miss out on anything going on. The other issue i believe is quite common with small people, is they're not actually sure if they are allowed to go...they might be in the middle of an activity and feel unsure of being able to excuse themselves without getting into trouble of some kind. Daughter eventually trained herself to time it perfectly. that said, we didnt have any accidents of the kind your describing. Your poor wee miss must be quite frightened, or overwhelmed. At our school they don't start going to the outside of classroom toilets till year one, and it seems to work well as by the time they hit that age they're actually really looking forward to the priviledge and responsibility of going to the 'big kid' loos. Until that age they have regular bathroom breaks and TA assistence if required. I think a wee (discreet...little girls can be a bit odd about their privacy once they hit school) chat with teacher will really help, and a little bit of assistence will help reassure your girl.

Surely appendix removal is an emergency if it bursts the consequences could be fatal? Can you not just go to A&E with her and say she has appendicitis? Hope she is ok. X Even in an emergency situation, you still have to pay/or get the approval from insurance before they will operate. And even with a definitive diagnosis prior to getting to a hospital, they will still run and re run any previous tests done at huge cost to reach their own conclusion re: diagnosis. (At least, this is the case at the 'private' hospitals we have been to here)
