They'll be cared for with the rest of the zoo over the holidays and until they find the right homes after that, so no worries DR. We're back about the 7th.

are looking for a forever home. 2 of their siblings have been homed with a lovely, caring family and now we need a home for the next 2. They're 8 weeks old, tabby and white, used to a busy household with other animals and kids, ultra friendly and full of kitten fun. They can go together or seperately. I'm located in Azaiba, so if you're looking to add to your family please feel free to get in contact with me on: ari underscore jo 2002 at yahoo dot co dot nz

Urgh, another vote against flagyl....they use it for giardia, and you really only want to take it if testing has been done and the Dr prescribes. Vermox comes in the fluid suspension for kidlets, Like green-ish we have loads of animals, wildlife etc that we're in contact with daily, and utterly agree with desert rose that smallies are grubby wee pups no matter how çarefully they try and practise hygeine. I'm another mum who (tries to remember to) worms at least once every 6 months...the whole household. Lil miss had thread worm? some years ago and it's not something I'd care to repeat. But it's not always as obvious as that symptom wise..itchy skin, interupted sleep, apetite swings, sore private bits etc etc not just worms coming out to feed as the sun goes down (yerk) The adult dose comes in one tablet (repeated 2 weeks later) and the kiddies have to have 5ml, twice a day for 3 days, repeated 2 weeks later. But do check with your pead if concerned.

Azaiba, I can't say. You may be best to talk to your vet. Oman doesnt have a rabies clearance, so, it may well be difficult. I know my UAE animals can be bought over here easily enough, but then their rabies titre testing is null and void for our home countries.

We always just taxi-ed when we used Air Arabia, so can't help with long term parking, sorry. There are some awesome drives and adventures to be done through Oman, thats for sure...it's just that it took us 7 hours to get to Abu Dhabi once and I'm permently off road trips that are over 4 hours. The long straight roads make life simpler but they are monotonous, anything through the mountains or down the coast is spectacular.

Plan A sounds good to me...though we quite like taking the overnight train from Bangkok to Surithani and then hopping the ferry to Samui. You can get the whole transfer done in one transaction from any of the little travel agents in Bangkok. Just adds to the fun and daughter loves the adventure of the sleeper train.

Who knows why ChilliPepper? The best theory I can come up with is that because our lives here are a temporary thing, even if that 'temporary' is years long, there is not the value placed on love/friendship because it will always end for whatever reason. People become as disposable as mcdonalds packaging. And because it's a temporary thing we make friends fast and hard under almost a pressure cooker atmosphere...our longstanding friends at 'home' were developed over years, and with space to grow, and to forgive much and to love much. (not to mention, while it is great to have friends from all over, there is something to be said about similar backgrounds/beliefs so you have a solid foundation of understanding to begin with) I will never get that part of human nature that will begin smear campaigns to protect their veiw of themselves that satisfies them the most. To play at being the victim, whilst attacking so vehemently. Its a stunted ugly part of the human being. While youre still mourning the friendship, they have the knife in your back twisting viciously. The best you can hope for is a fresh start with REAL friends around you, and be thankful that the true nature has shown itself and you no longer have to be a part of it. Yes, it comes as a horrible shock, but take it, learn from it and you will get over it.

I had one of those wide awake in the midnight type moments thinking about the traffic in India and how vunerable we'd be in tuk tuks and how unthinkable it would be if something happened to both of us, and then what would happen to the child? This was of course AFTER had spoken to hubby ;) Any how...we will keep the option open for me to go, he's read this thread and understands. It may well be that we get enough people keen to go and we'll take a team of rickshaws. Thanks for your help ladies.

Oh Cheekymonkey, thats the voice of reality. I've travelled for months on a 'backpackers' budget in India, so I know I know how the country will work me over, but I can 't resist. I will never run a marathon, or climb a mountain or be an ironlady, but i can do this. No I can't garrantee that I will be cheerful the whole trip ( i think we're looking at 12 to 15 hour days in the tuk tuk) and then theres delhi bellie, and mats on floor to sleep on and broken rickshaws and and and...i so want to do this

Dubai doesnt change, WE change. Our friends move on, our expectations are different, it's life really...nothing stays stagnant. It's your ability to adapt, to suck it up, to find the new good in whats around you. Or not. I'm a big believer in the adage, that we cannot go backwards. For that reason, I can't go home, because it's 'changed' beyond recognition...but really, I changed beyond recognition, and home holds nothing for me at all. That said, I moved country 6 months ago and I loved Dubai too, but am now so in love with my new country that Dxb seems like a weird entity, not a place I lived in and loved for 5 plus years. It might be that youre just at the right place and time for a change. Go well. Well said...but I'm scared of change and I like a tax free salary. Perhaps I should just continue to 'suck it up'. ;) yeah, sorry...suck it up is rather harsh sounding, but you know... Believe me, I'm not a great one for change either, and I am so thrilled to stay in the ME. Going home for me (and himself) just doesnt compute... yep, theres things we don't like, but our life, oh our life in how WE live it, we're so happy. Change for us, not a reversion to how things would be at home, worked out well.

I have helped a few friends this this sort of situation before and if you like some direct personal advice write to me on my username here followed by 76 at gmail. For starters, you do need to try and get a personal loan to clear off your bills. The credit card interest rates are ridicolous. Given you admit to being a shopping addict, you will then have to cancel all or all but one credit card and always leave this at home. The only card you should use is debit, so at worst you use up what you have not more. The account that you have a debit card for you can control how much money is in there. EFT - which I can do for free may also help. why would you recommend keeping [i'>any[/i'> credit cards ? The OP clearly can't trust herself with credit cards so the only way is to not have any !! love Sal's solution though :D Not sure borrowing more money is the answer - even if a bank would lend any in the first place... Because, a credit card when used correctly can save you a lot on bank fees...you don't get charged for each transaction for a starter, unlike debit cards. You can also build up points, blah blah. The trick is, it must be paid off in full each month. If used wisely a credit card can give you nearly 50 days of free credit...no interest at all. The idea of getting a personal loan and consolidating the debt is a good one too, say a personal loan has an interest rate of 8 or 9% and a credit card of up to 21 or 32%...can you imagine how much quicker your debt is paid off? Let alone how much difference in what the credit has cost you? By all means, put the credit card in a frozen jug, but getting the debt cleared and being smart about the finance in the first place has to be a priority.

When my daughter was little she became scared so I got an old fashioned perfume bottle and together we used to spray each corner of the room before she went to bed. I told her it was special spray to get rid of any monsters and it worked on her. We did that too when lil miss was smaller, also played the muumy is magic game and no monsters would DARE come in her house. Problem is, then monsters must be real then if we have magic to make them go away. We've gone the of course they don't exist route now that she's a bit bigger. Not that it worked. Their minds are such powerful wee machines of imagination, I've got to assume that this is part of their growing up.

I'm afraid ours got suddenly terrified of the dark too about the age of 6, and I don't have any answers for you either. A year on we still have to lay down with her at night time, though now it's more habit than anything else, but she was genuinely terrified when it first started and could get her self worked up into a dreadful state. She has night lights, hall light, loo light, her stuffed dog. If she is upset over other things as well she will sleep walk, also make her way into our room through the night...it seems she just cannot bear to be alone. Because this 'fear' now seems to have become routine, we recently completed a challenge where she had to stay in her own bed for 2 weeks to get a much coveted surprise. Now we have to make sure if she's sleep walking we have to put her back in her own bed because if she wakes up in ours she is furious she might lose her prize. Bribary and corruption, not the answer to everything, and more of a bandaid solution, but i have to assume she'll grow out of it before leaving for Varsity ;)

Thanks ladies...i had forgotten i had asked this until her tutor reminded me about taking it with us. It's small enough to fit in the overhead, but you know..other peoples luggage etc, so it's good to know it can be taken and stashed somewhere else without a problem. Good idea about the bubblewrap as well. Thank you. We tend to carry very little on board with us so it would be her only piece of carry on.

Green-ish, our daughter is the same as your boy. Up til aged 2 she ate vorociously and everything, and it seemed over night that her eating changed. We called it going on the white food diet...pasta, bread, egg whites, bananas...and nothing else at all. There were days when I counted garlic bread (homemade) as a vege serving. Nothing worked...bribary did for a time, grim determination and making a fuss about it, not at all. Being like me she just dug her heels in and became more opposed. Like you we just took her intake for the whole day rather than each meal. All snacks whenever she wanted so no big emphasis on meals but no junk food and juices. Juice is allowed when you've been out doing stuff in the heat. If I really started to get anxious about the fruit and vege thing, we just made smoothies...she'll eat anything if she thinks it has ice cream in it ;) And like your boy...at age 7 she is now finally and slowly broadening her tastes, sometimes trying and enjoying new things and surprising herself in the process. Thank goodness.

sorry, I probably didnt explain myself too well. You'll pay for the packaging and moving of just what you have, but if it's on it's own in a container, you will pay the whole container charge.

Lol SueB, I get soooo jumpy when the people next to me are using their phones and we're about to take off. That announcement goes that all phones have to be switched off and it's like it doesnt even register with some people. I have a real phobia about flying and would just happily cheer if airline staff removed stroppy phone using people or their gadgets.

The problem I think is that you pay for the whole container regardless if it is full. Some companies can put a couple of job lots in one and split the costs for you but that really comes down to another client relocating to the same place at the same time as you... Try looking at Crown Relocation, Allied Pickfords, GAC for quotes as well. Theyre reputable companies and I think you'll find theyre all around the same price.

we saw the 'name and shame' boards when we over this weekend...sorry bmap, but it's a new occurance in that format. I have a feeling they were published other ways prior but obviously, it wasnt getting through to the people it needed to. Don't feel embarrased thou, given the wide spread knowledge of whats going on with Nakheel etal, everyone who even thinks to look at the boards is going to know it's a LLs oversite, not you as a tenant. I know before we left they were tightening up on and threatening fines all over the place, stamping down on ingress/egress. My big worry would be, that they can shut power and water supply to individual households in the community, so you won't even get the tiny outcry over it as you have with the likes of whole tower blocks being cut off with the other outfit. My other thought is...can they actually cut you off? A giant company may block services, but can they do so when an individuals accounts are up to date? Doesnt that become a human rights issue, and illegal? Does it become more difficult to shut you off as an individual with a power account? But then, in what way does that differ from an individual in an apartment with no a/c or water because the flat owner hasnt paid the fees? My *hope* would be theyre going the name/shame route in the hopes tenants will take on the urgency of getting LL's to pay but that there is little bite to it.

crikey....the water may NOT have been on all night, he may have done what I've seen many gardeners do and what I do myself...you turn the hose on to a particular part of the garden, and then go off and do something else so as not to be hanging about picking your nose while the hose does it's thing. It's hardly a 'speak to the supervisor' situation...you'd notice if the hose was on all night, there'd be floods of standing water through out the garden. The difference it will make to your DEWA bill in general will be neglible in any case...I'd be more worried about the regular summer time inflation that occurs with DEWA even when your house is empty!

However I am sure that we've all seen appalling behaviour from expat kids towards service people, and how those same service people have no come back, no effect, be they 'nannys', life guards or drivers. No need duct tape, chuck them kids into the car boot? They'd get a slap if they were mine, and then get duct taped. They'd then get a tour of the 'flats' where the taxi drivers live, and be made to live on for a month what the drivers actually keep after sending their money home to their families, and then I'd make them do 12 hour shifts, 7 days a week for good measure, volunteering at an A and E. Brats.

It is stinking hot, thats for sure. But the half day tour usually has the stop for snorkling and swimming once you get round the bend. I would say so long as your guests are able to take advantage of a bit of a swim and a cool down, they'll still have a thoroughly enjoyable time. The dhows provide cold drinks and fruit, and out on the water you do get a bit of a breeze, so even up til a couple of weeks ago, it has been lovely.

the driver would get unfairly reprimanded. What should the driver have done, rightfully? am sorry but the driver IS THE ADULT it is his responsibility..... Exactly, he is driver of the vehicle. It may be his responsibility, and in a normal world any driver would have the expectation that what he/she dictates is the right and appropriate behaviour in their vehicle is followed by their passengers. However I am sure that we've all seen appalling behaviour from expat kids towards service people, and how those same service people have no come back, no effect, be they 'nannys', life guards or drivers.

You do really need to have them out of the house for at least 4 to 5 hours (longer is better). The stuff used in pest control is noxious and even locked in a room not being sprayed, they will suffer. Can you take them to a friends place? Book them into a type of kennel place for the day? You'll want to thoroughly air out your place as well before moving anybody back in.

Is it just me Teach7, but if I were applying for a role that had me teaching young children, I think I'd be writing in full english, not text speak. No matter how dynamic I needed to come across as , I think establishing my credentials as a qualified tutor *might* just come in there somewhere, as a bit of a priority, even.
