Oh dear, this is getting so very, very silly. jwal, you have been arguing yourself into a corner over nothing, ALL responsible dog owners agree with you! The problem is not dogs per se, it is irresponsible PEOPLE. And we can't ban people.........much as I'd like to on occasion. if yr not muslim, put down christian, or whatever. I always put down N/A but have since found out not having a religion is illegal. Who knew? It really doesnt matter, but kids of the islamic faith are required to do islamic studies, kids who are not (of that faith) are not. hth?

Hi all! Thanks for cheering me up, you're all so funny :) Feeling a bit better today - made an effort to skip the lift at work and use the stairs...I just don't move around usually like I did living in the UK, so will make a conscious effort. I hate the gym, find it so dull - maybe need to find a hockey team to play with as always enjoyed that and I was fit without even thinking about it. I have to go to a work function with DH next week, so will HAVE to go shopping before that (how many pairs of Spanx can I layer on top of each other?). He is embarrassed of me though...can't really do much about that (he said he didn't want me to attend) so sod it, I'll just spend hours beautifying and then have a great time on my own! Don't say sod it, I will have a great time on my own.....and then TRY to. You Just go, be gorgeous, be fabulous, be YOURSELF and love every minute. Feel it on the inside honey and let yourself shine. Oh, and tell that selfish, thoughtles pr1ck youre married to that I will snot him over the head with something heavy if he doesnt pull his head in and start being a decent bloke towards you. Jaysus, of allll the things to come out with.....

jwal, people have been very reasonable in pointing out 'small' flaws in your reactive idea to ban all dogs on the back of a small percentage of lazy owners/carers and the sh1te they leave in their wake. Not one person here disagrees with you...left dog waste is disagreeable, unhygeniqe, exceedingly poor manners and completely ignorant and/or arrogant. Take your pick or select all of the above options. Include a basic lack of education, a different cultural mindset, or just plain laziness. It matters not. we know it happens, we know it's deplorable, but the more reasonable of us know that it is a very small percentage of 'people' that spoil it for the majority of responsible and sensible dog owners. I can't help but feeling that your reaction is over the top jwal, and out of character? Is there something else going on that has blown this all up out of proportion for you? If time is an issue, and you can't wait out side to catch the culprit, put a sign on your car. if you can't find someone to translate to various different languages....include a graphic. Make it clear that it is an unacceptable behaviour and you will take action. Threaten them with police if you like? Whatever, take control of your patch. Ranting about banning all dogs on here serves no purpose except winding you up more and getting no nearer to resolution. You want a result? Make it happen. You shouldnt have to in a perfect world, but guess what? It isnt, has never been, and never will be perfect. So take control of what YOU can.

and it's all so true. :D Happy to volunteer lil miss as a training tool for potential parents. We used to call her the poster child for birth control...... Harsh..... am sure she's an angel :) pfft, not harsh at all :) They forgot the 12th step in this....you need to practise for 4 or 5 years going to the loo and showering with an audience!

They are all biatches, so there. AND it's a well known fact that when you starve body of essential fats your brains fall out your ears. True. I keep telling hubby that a man needs a little to hang on to, dimples, a muffin top and a giant ar$e fitting the bill perfectly. He um, however calls the muffin top cake, so theres no 'hanging on' to anything in store for him any time soon!

I went to Lulu's for the first time the other day, and it's great. (Still love C4 though) Really, you just have to watch the indiviudual prices in ANY shop. Take ritz crackers say...they have gone up to 4.25 (or whatever) in Spinns', but that still beats hands down the 14 odd dh they are in C4.

Actually, coke and pepsi have been a dh here since introduced in 1988. Average inflation during that time has been 87%, bringing a can of coke to 1.87 dh if they had kept up with ordinary inflation. So, 1.50 a can seems reasonable, no?

Apparently I am rather formidable when have my grown up face on. Thanks everyone for all your help and support. ARancher I'm taking the details of your vet for if when we need again. Thank you. To update: after much carryon, seeking advice from other vets etc we eventually took bunny back to our clinic and asked to have a consult with a different vet before the procedure. Couldnt be done because other vet on duty is allergic to rabbits! (which for some reason I find quite funny, never mind) Suddenly mr vet man redeemed himself somewhat and we had what I felt was a proper consult, a better examination and he started treating me proffessionally rather than as the mumsie of a fwuffy wittle bwunny. With more info I was feeling more reassured about the procedure and bunny is home now and hopefully recovering from his mouth ulcers...he certainly seems alert and spritely though he has still not eaten yet. as an aside, hubby picked up the rabbit in the afternoon and says mr vet man is suitably terrified of self! lol! Apparently I am rather formidable when have my grown up face on. Thanks everyone for all your help and support.

Was just looking for thread to update....he's ok. Still not eating yet, but he has mouth ulcers which have been treated and he's a had a wee bit of dentistry done. Hopefully once that particular shock has worn off he'll be back to his normal self. He certainly seems spritely and alert enough. Naughty wee thing for causing me all the worry.

It may well be about saving face, or not. Personally I don't care. He behaved as less than a man in what he did to you and your family BB, and is behaving as less than a man now. He wants to come home and he's letting his aunties do the pleading? baby. Heres the sound of the worlds smallest violin just for you mate. Ultimately, this is about what you want BB....do you want him back? Do you think you could take him back? You take all the time you need sweetie to think about that and then do what is right for you and your kids.

Thanks arohadxb. I have used Lee once before and was happy with his service. However, I thought his prices were a bit high. I had received a new notebook and set it up with a password. I forgot the password and the only way to get around it was to re-install windows. I had the windows disc but the notebook doesnt have a cd-drive. So basically all he did was re-install windows for me (no data on notebook) for 400dhs. If I'm way out of touch with rates please tell me! And if I don't get any other recs on here I'll have to contact him anyway. Expensive business this, being a techno-dummy! I am a complete techie idiot, and yes I do agree that Lee seems expensive initially....I can't quite remember but I think that 400 is the call out fee? Or is that 180? My idea of the prices is probably completely antiquated anyhow. What I do find with him, is that he does his level best to save you the big bucks when it comes to re building, and he has done that for me twice, and also manages to fix some things under the warrantee all just on his call out fee. Have been eyeing up my router and printer with trepidation for the last few months believe it or not....think i may have to call Lee too! Hope somone comes up with something for you.

at that junction you've the huge flash building (which I have decided is being finished as a facade, but who knows) the american school and the hospital. On the other corner is the race course property...you may get lucky and they do a bit of a park, or dress it up with some green? Until that junction is finished I wouldnt hold my breath though. Is funny, 4 years ago when tecom basically barely exsisted, hubby and I used to look out the window at the 37 tower cranes and the buildings going up 3 floors a day and pray for parks, little dairy type shops, a bar etc...and now, all is needed is a park! glad don't live there anymore though....

Things that have been nicked from our garage...even hidden away, in cupboards etc. * a bbq *the coal for bbq * on loan packing boxes * our house number *our outside hose *plants oh, etc etc. If it aint nailed down it'll be pinched, despite the courtesy recycling rule of stuff out by your bin. Interestingly enough, no one has bothered to pinch our flaming truck.

to update for those looking for aquariums...that shop on the ground floor of Lulu's is AMAZING! Set our selves up today with the works for lil miss's B'day, cost next to nothing, great quality and the dudes while not speaking a great deal of english do appear to know their stuff. Also. they have feed for most animals of a good vet quality for a fraction of the cost of what it cost at the likes of the pet shop at Town center springs. Pet heaven!

Turkish airways is another one to look at as well, is my hubby's fav 'new' airline for europe. You go through Istanbul, of course, and then just about everywhere else for next to nothing. If Fly Dubai or air arabia can get you there, worth looking at too, as they are neat little budget carriers.

friend of mine was telling me about the card cake type boxes, and she said she finds hers at dragonmart though decent cake shops do sell them but at a premium price. They might do the trick for a lovely pre packed lunch box? You can get them all sizes. I also saw a new party supply shop has opened up behind MoE and over from Lulu's today. Didnt go inside but worth knowing about?

I think the most important is that you monitor the eating. If he is not eating anything (not even his dry biscuits) and becoming thin, he needs to see the vet and be put on liquids. Is he eating at all? If he is, that's very good, the sadness will eventually go. Rabbits are just too sensitive, bless. Have been watching his food, and he is eating very little, even his favourite stuff. The idea was, no improvement in the next day or 2 he's off to the vet. So far he has lost a little weight, but not too much, and he's fairly solid so he has a bit to come and go on. He's drinking, so thats something. Thanks so much for your help estelle, I appreciate it.

My friend had the exact same situation. The bunny became very sad, lost weight and developed a rash, doctors said from the loss of his friend and the weight loss his immune system became weak. My friend immediately went to get another guinea, but they were fighting so the guinea was returned to his old home. The bunny is alone now, and happy again (about 2 months passed). Give him time. Watch his eating and drinking. He will be ok - he is just sad, like you! HUGS! edited by Estelle on 07/01/2011 oh, thank god it's quite normal then....sincerely hope it doesnt take the boy 2 months to mend. He's just so sad, he won't even play with the cat any more, and is losing weight. Poor mite. (thanks for the hugs)

sizes and quality at Zaks are an absolute joke. Things fall to bits when you so much as look at them, child is in everything from size 3 to size 9 (she's 5) just depending on what actually fits and theres no rhyme or reason to any of it. One pair of skorts size 3 may fit, and the next pair of skorts needs to be a 6. Useless.

lets see.....garden, visit new baby, garden, collapse on sofa (garden a mess) Friday sorted. Get up, have special birthday breakfast, go shopping for birthday surprise, make cake and lunch for birthday, a play 'spa' afternoon. Collapse on sofa. Thats saturday. Sunday....start the prep for the birthday extravaganza NEXT weekend. At some point may have to clean house, food shop, do washing as well. It's the hi life, I tell ya. :D Hopefully I can live vicariously through some else's wonderful life?

Definitely whilst cooking dinner - maximum effect on empty stomach! ;) I generally then have some left in my glass to have with my meal. Agree! makes cooking so much more fun too :) and interesting, and creative and sometimes quite surprising also.....
