I was sailing in the same boat couple of weeks back. I nearly applied in almost all schools who were willing to take applications. Definitely, you do lose a lot of bucks. But, we don't have a choice.
I would Insist on persistence , that's the key. My children got scheduled for overseas tests as they were looking for admissions in Year 5 & Year 8. And , they got through , initially one was in wait list and the other got in Sherborne and later on both got through Doha College.
I had applied in Pearling and Gems too, both were wonderful and they have spaces. But eventually,I had to get my applications withdrawn, You could try them and after a year you can always put in schools of your choice. As , the Primary level is quiet oversubscribed in Qatar.
Now my next hunt is housing.

To share the good news... My son was offered after getting an offer from Sherborne , in another couple of days from DC. Definitely, I went for DC as in they will be in same schools. But, still different campuses. I have asked the West Bay campus if they would be able to shift my daughter to Waab campus they informed it would take some time for transfer. At least we are with the same school umbrella!
@ Eleanor , would Gharaffa area be good if my DS & DH are in Waab & West Bay campus respectively?
@lalala oh nice to know that you have been to Kuwait. After 15 years of being here one makes friends & learns to adapt.
Hope Qatar will be as welcoming as Kuwait was for me .;)
I have to look for options now as definitely my kids want to pursue their hobbies in their respective instruments.
