Explore your options and go see what the rest of the world has to offer. Money is definitely not everything. If your gut instinct tells you its time to move on the do so.

Have you taken him for an eyetest? A lot of times children get headaches due to eye strain as their vision slowly deteriorates but it is at such a slow pace that they dont realize their vision isnt 100% anymore. If it is not his eyes it could be also dental related. There are so many things actually....Perhaps also check with an Osteopath. They can also check if the skull alignment is intact etc.

I know of two families who are homeschooling their kids and they work fulltime too. They have plenty time for weekends in the park and they meet up with other homeschoolers too so there are plenty kid interaction. Their kids are all doing well and they get to have vacation when their parents gets their assigned company leave which is very convenient instead of when regular schools have holidays. Just letting you know that the options are endless but you need to find what will work for you so take the suggestion of meeting up with the K12 people and discuss your options and concerns with them. Good luck!! :)

Silicon Oasis is far from JAFTZA. Opposite side of the city. Click on the Education tab on this forum and it will show you all the national curriculum schools currently. There are plenty new ones opening this September that might not be listed there yet. There are plenty nice living neighborhoods close to JAFTZA. Silicon Oasis is not close to it.

Compared to home fuel is extremely cheap here It will be interesting to see how much it goes up by though Compared to home, education is much more expensive here. Compared to home, apples are ridiculously expensive here. Compared to home, for the same price I can rent a house with a garden I can only rent a 1BR apartment here. Compared to home... Useless comparison. Sorry. all this is sooo relative... yes education is more expensive here if u decide you want to study in a premium school... keeping that in mind though there are KHDA rated 'Outstanding' schools that have fees at AED 9,000 a year and those that are rated 'Outstanding' with fees of AED 75,000 a year! apples... hmmmm... yes they are ridiculously expensive here if u decide to buy the imported variety from the likes of Waitrose and Spinneys... but go to the fruit & veggie market in shindagha and get cheaper local alternatives! and yes housing is more expensive as well if u decide on renting in more expensive neighbourhoods... a 1BR in the Palm or Dxb Marina will cost u at least AED 100,000 a year whereas a 1BR in Deira or Ghusais would only cost u AED 40,000 You are obviously not on the point with prices here... One bed in deira costs dhs70000 minimum. People have no choice but put their kids in premium schools as regular schools are beyond pathetic. The outstanding school that you mentioned that is only dhs9000 is an indian curriculum school. We are not all indian or going to live in india. Stop with the 'compared to home' comments please. I agree. It is a useless comparison.

Send anonymous email. This way nobody will know its you who sent it and she will know what a scumbag her cheating husband is. If he bragged to you about his cheating I am pretty sure all his close buddies know about it too. http://securemail.hidemyass.com/

Nbar is good but their nail technicians gossip too much among each other and sometimes cut corners when they think you are not watching what they are doing. Nstyle is more expensive but their nail polish colour selection is a lot better. You have to make an appointment through a hotline number though and its annoying. I just want to call a salon when I make an appointment! Both salons are good with nails.

You would have to contact a hair salon for that. Most people do not want their hair to be those colours.

You would have to go to Karama and you will have your dress within 24hrs. I took in trouser to be altered and it was done 25 minutes later :) . Cant remember the tailor though so would have to go digging for his card but I remember there were several tailors in the area maybe one of the ladies who live in karama would know.

NYX mascara. Very good! You can buy it at Centerpoint stores. Also Bourjois mascara (it is owned by Chanel and is considered their affordable option). I own both Chanel cosmetics and Bourjois and only difference is Chanel has fancier packaging but mascara is exact same product inside.

I would also say around Al Barsha would be best as most of the American schools are in that area or close driving distance. Ask you husbands employer if the 16000USD salary is inclusive of housing, insurance etc. or exclusive? Sometimes the companies are sneaky and they offer big salary but they dont tell you its inclusive meaning when all the other things are deducted your basic take home salary isn't all that much. Read ALL the small print. Take care and good luck.

This morning I decided to attend my first ever mother and baby coffee morning. I've been wanting to go for a long time but I just always found myself too busy or too tired. I work 4 days a week so I had to plan this in advance. I was really disappointed with the whole experience. All the mothers seemed to know each other from before. And they were all very judgemental and seemed to keep comparing each others babies. One lady called my baby hairy. It's true but it's hurtful to hear it. I don't feel it's appropriate to tell someone that the first day you meet them. My baby was born premature with a lot of body and facial hair that was supposed to fall out by around 6 months but has not fallen out yet. Now I can't stop thinking about this. I'm so annoyed. You are not alone. When my child was a baby I also attended one of those mornings and felt like an outsider. Everyone chatting with their little cliques of friends. It is very disheartening. I just continued taking my child to play areas minus the meetups with other mums. Also once they go to school at 4yrs you will meet plenty of nice school moms and things just get better. :)

18 months is really nothing. She will slip back into routine quite fast. I have been a SAHM for 6 years and started applying for jobs since last year...not one phone call or email yet :( I even did extra refresher courses but it seems they think you lose your brains when you become a mom.

My parents only have one blurry wedding photo...their photographer was drunk on their wedding day! It could always be worse but I agree definitely ask loads of questions. The average time to wait for photos should be 3-4 weeks. Anything longer than that and you have an amateur that does not know what they are doing.

There are plenty of companies in Dubai that will only hire Indians, and even only Indians from certain parts of India. And there are Arab companies that clearly prefer to hire Arabs. I don't like the preferences by nationality, but it's the way things are out here and in a way it does make sense because of the different working expectations and environments. True it has always been like this and I doubt it will ever change. Its just the way things work here. Your passport and skin colour matters....a lot.

I have done it twice and it really works. Another program that is also just as good and I found it actually more entertaining was Focus T25. The same guy who designed Insanity designed that program. It has 3 levels starting at beginner and its just 25 minutes each day and.....it works great! http://www.facebook.com/FocusT25

Usually at supermarkets there are signs up for room rentals. Perhaps she can go look there. Also plenty of room rentals advertised on gulf news classified ads online. p.s. for those who keep wagging their fingers about how illegal it is...remember majority of Satwa and Karama is subletting and nobody cares.

We actually discussed this option today as we feel our time in dubai has reached its end. Time to move on and get back to reality. Just not happy here anymore and its getting expensive. DH has lived here his whole life and his family lives here but they dont have the passport and everyone is getting older. Better to go home and start setting up a life with an income before its too late. Im not sure I can survive 6 months without DH...I get cranky after two weeks of not seeing him but perhaps I will be so busy with new schools and new life it wont be as hard? We have actually set a date for next year Jan. edited by Asti on 17/01/2015

I wouldnt sell now if I were you. Prices for gold is very low at the moment. Hang on to it for a while longer if I were you but if you really need the cash then gold souq is best and easy to do. Do your price research before you go otherwise if you look clueless you might not get a good deal.

I have both and have tried both. Insanity is for superfit people. Gym junkies. Focus T25 is for everyday people who want to get fit and toned. It can be done but those 25 minutes burn every fibre in your body! On the fourth day I was walking like a duck as every muscle in my body ached but it felt good in a weird way. I didnt stick with it as I got flu but will probably restart this week. edited by Asti on 14/01/2015

I met a group of mums who do homeschooling and they all live in Discovery Gardens. The mums each make turns to take the homeschooled kids on outings etc It looks really nice and they all have bright, well mannered children. Almost made me want to homeschool. You sign up with K12 as they are recognized as a homeschooling organisation and they give support. Its similar to the US curriculum.
