The arab schools are still holidaying as per usual. I really dont know how they manage to get all their studies done with their extra long holidays. They are always out before other schools and always last to return.

A few days in a police holding cell is perhaps what your colleague needs... Pay your bills when they are due and if you cant then approach your bank with an arrangement. Non-payment is the same as stealing and that is a crime. I see people daily living way higher than their means and trying to keep up appearances. Its not worth it and then you are only impressing the wrong type of people (fake friends) anyways. <em>edited by Asti on 01/01/2015</em>

I dont use botox but I do have friends that do and they are around 36. What I have noticed is that when you botox your forehead then your face forms new wrinkles around your nose and eyes to make up for the lack of movement in forehead. I have also noticed their eyebrows going higher and higher. I guess it gets pulled up or something. I dont know if this is normal or their doctor just arent that good but just to let you know.

My niece just resigned. Same reasons as you. She arrived last year November and got a job in the Marketing department of a well known company and soon everyone and their friend were dumping their work loads on her and taking off early. Since she was on probation she tolerated it but it just kept getting worse and when she spoke to her employer she got another typical dubai response of 'take it or leave it'. She left it. Went back to Canada and found happiness again. Point being...Dubai is not for everyone and some companies just treat their employees bad regardless.

La Vie & Rose has plenty of pyjamas sets with a christmas theme. For females only though. I have reindeers and snow flakes on mine. There was santa ones too etc. They are currently having a sale on them too. Dhs69 and great quality.

Dont bother with the school accountant. They only think numbers. Go to the school principal and inform him/her what is going on. If from there you do not get a refund report the school as they are stealing from you then since the company already gave them a check. <em>edited by Asti on 17/12/2014</em>

Dont underestimate a mother. It will all come back to her. If after one week you see she is not coping then look for someone. She might feel insulted if you get someone to help her as she is probably a proud grandma. ;)

I was warned in advance to avoid the grotto so we didnt go to Santa's grotto. Everyone said it was a waste of money. If you want a good grotto and value for money go to WAFI Mall. They have the best and original grotto in town. <em>edited by Asti on 15/12/2014</em>

If you really want to buy make sure its a good deal and dont overpay. Also be careful with projects where you have to pay a lump sum before building has begun...these companies sometimes take your money and when you sue them they get the upperhand as someone in the company has influence over authorities. Just search and read username 'skyhighgirl' posts of how she paid all her savings for a new property,won her court case and still hasnt received any correspondence or money.... <em>edited by Asti on 14/12/2014</em>

Most Rotana hotels in Dubai offer swim lessons and most of them have one female instructor and one male instructor. You just tell them you want to book the female. ;) Their rates are also very good compared to these swim schools and private tutors. Especially if you buy a package.

Do you have any idea where your children's passports are? Get it and go to a hotel with them. Most importantly....get out of the house! If you cant find their passports call your consulate immediately and see if they can arrange something to make travel possible. Dont worry about small things like rental contracts etc. You can always have that stuff sorted from UK with the landlord/agent via email...

I would wait if I were you...FS2 places arent that hard to come by anymore due to the amount of new schools that have opened up all over Dubai. Also many existing schools have added extra classes to their schools. Let your August baby stay baby for a little while longer. ;)

Your friend is right about the KHDA 22 day rule but it all depends at the end of the day on the school. The school does not have to report that they are gone longer than that and can make adjustments under their own scrutiny. Its best you make an appointment with them and discuss your needs and options with your own school Some schools are flexible, others not.

thank you , thank you all . i will check with dentist if we can wait till the milk teeth fall . My nephew had the exact same issue and my sister was sick with worry. The dentist told her to wait and not to worry as nature will sort it out and if nature doesn't do it nicely by the time he is 12 yrs old then braces can fix it. He turned 12 last month and his teeth are now fine and no braces needed. All his adult teeth are there and milk teeth gone at last. A lot of kids go through a stage where their teeth just looks weird but it works out in the end. Dont worry! ;)

I saw lactose free milk, soy milk and almond milk this morning among the regular types of milk.... I couldnt believe that Carrefour is so well stocked now. Better prices than Spinneys for sure. They will have my business from now on. ps. This morning I was going to Carrefour in Deira city center and all management/supervisors were standing at both sides of the entrance in a row welcoming customers. Thought that is a very nice way to start the day! I am very impressed with how good they are becoming.

Building owner informed me they would get eviction notice on Tuesday after Eid. His offices are closed and he will inform his secretary on Tuesday. Fortunately I know the building owner as I have lived in this building so long. My other neighbour (who has also lived in this block for many years) went over and also spoke to the thugs who tried to intimidate me. He informed them if they even just look my way he will go straight to the police. Everyone on my floor now knows about their despicable actions and are keeping a close eye on these people. Im amazed at all the people who have been so kind and supportive to me. I still cant believe that so many men thought it is acceptable to do that to a woman with two small kids?! Dumb or what? ps. Their apartment is a one bedroom apartment. When they open the door you see bunkbeds even in the entrance! They must be packed like sardines in there and the stench that comes out every time that door opens is horrible too. Also our rental contract clearly states it is a family building so I am pretty sure they are not supposed to be there. Big thanks to all you ladies for your very valuable advice. Thank you ladies. I have informed the building owner of what is happening and also reported the bachelors on Al Ameen website. Nobody was answering the hotline so I just submitted a complaint online. I guess action will only be taken after Eid is finished. I will keep checking up until action has been taken. I feel so unsafe. <em>edited by Asti on 04/10/2014</em>

Hi. I've got Xmas day brunch booked for 6 of us and they have now told me they will need pre-payment on 1st November. I'm not in the least bit happy as this hasn't been stated in an of the communication so far. This is my first Christmas here so I don't know...Is this standard practice? I'm not sure if I am just being tight, but handing over so much, 7 weeks before actually dining seems wrong to me. They have my credit card as guarantee already. Thanks Standard practice. Too many people book and do not show up so hotels are forced to do this. It prevents people from booking up all the reservations and not arriving leaving the hotels with financial loss. I have always pre-paid. Does it really matter as you are going to pay that amount anyways if your booking is genuine?

Sounds like something I went through and it turned out to be oversensitive teeth. I had a filling in a tooth and struggled to bite on the tooth as it was painful. Went back and she removed and refilled the same tooth as there was apparently a 'bubble'. Still couldnt eat on it so went to another dentist who said I needed a root canal and quoted me some ridiculous amount. Then I went for a second opinion about the root canal to another dentist who told me its all nonsense and that my teeth are just extremely oversensitive due to all the trauma it went through. The dentist just put a special gel on the teeth and I was not allowed to eat for a few hours. The problem went away. No root canal ever needed. They seem to love their root canals here in Dubai it seems! PS. The dentist who sorted me out and fixed everything works at Skyclinic. They have a website. It improves the appearance of the skin itself. No machine can reduce your stretchmarks. Its is broken skin and any doctor who says he can make your stretchmarks go away is lying. If your skin condition is firmed up and improved the stretchmarks does not look as bad as before but that is all that can be done with these lazer type machines. Legato microplasma is the exact same as pixel lazer therapy that beauticians use.

I find it very strange that there are posters here who says you must contact the police over one text message! Seriously? This guy is just trying his luck by asking for a loan. It is wrong and you can choose to just ignore the text and go on with your life like a normal adult. Hi All, I need to find urgently an excellent pediatrician who takes the time to check properly his patients. I went to several who are recommended here but find that they do not take the time to check the baby, they just spend 5 minutes with the baby and they charge 450 dirhams. My baby has been sick now for 4 weeks and no help from the doctors. Even, recently, the pediatrician prescribed a medecine that is not suitable for my baby's age. I used to go to a GP who was very good but she left the country. Thanks for your help. Dr.Loubser at Infinity Clinic on Al Wasl street. Opposite Park&Shop. He is brilliant and really caring.

You're supposed to prove you've spent so many days out of the last 5 years in Canada. I'm starting the permanent residency process (and yes, I I tend to stay there. We're in the final stages of buying our family home). I joined a forum relating to Canadian immigration and there loads of people worried because they've only spent three month in the last three years on Canada. My BIL is one of them.... He has spent 2 months only in the last two years and has only found out today about this bill that has passed in government when I told him what I read on EW! I forwarded the link to him. He is scrambling now to find more answers from his lawyer in Vancouver!
