Lol! Gripe water has not contained alcohol for quite a few years already. It is safe to use. I have seen it at Boots and sometimes at Spinneys. The Woodwards brand. Telament brand is not available in Dubai.

I second the Japanese Curry. Its my favourite and super delicious. I buy mine at Spinneys in the Japanese section. Its called Golden Curry and its written in large gold lettering on the box too. You cant miss it. I like mine with beef cubes but you can add anything you feel like.

You can order it from www.amazon.com. It will be very difficult to find in Dubai however you should check with Boots pharmacy or a Life pharmacy if you dont want to order online.

I submitted application for my DS at Gems Silicon Oasis for FS1 2014 session. The other day I received a call from a representative of the school informing that the child should be 3 years by or before 15th of September 2014 and my child was TOO YOUNG as per his birth date so they could not consider him for 2014 but may be I could take chance for 2015 session. Now I don't have any issues with their policies but wondering if a difference of just 9 DAYS could really make him TOO YOUNG Any idea if all the schools follow the same rule? His DOB is 24th Sep btw Consider it lucky. Your child will be one of the oldest in his class and emotionally and mentally more mature therefor able to grasp things must faster. In my childs class the older ones are the ones who excell....for now.

At my DS's school FS2 stays from 7:45 to 14:15. I also think its way too long but what to do. They adjust quite quickly to be honest. I dont know if its a Dubai thing to have such extreme long school hours so young. Interesting to see other schools come out quite earlier.

Its not legal in Dubai. You have to either place your child in a regular school or homeschool. No other method is accepted.

I have triple play and no problems. You probably have a faulty elife box. Same happened to us when we go a new box. Worked a while then nothing. They replaced it and havent had problems since. They only took two days to come out to our place after a complaint was lodged though. If they still havent been to your house and a week has passed then you need to call them again as your complaint probably got lost in the system or was not properly logged by the telephone operator.

Salon Ink in Jumeira opposite Jumeira Beach Park. Fab hairdressers but be prepared to pay a hefty price for their services....although you will look gorgeous whilst paying ;) lol!

I think the staff at the shops keep the samples for themselves. Getting samples in Dubai is like asking for gold! I have seen staff at Debenhams give samples to people who buy large amounts of make up,so maybe try there?

The Hilton Resort & Spa in RAK is one of our favourite weekend getaways. Also if you don't want to travel that far Jebel Ali Resort is great, and the rooms in Palm Tree Court are perfect for families. I second Hilton resort and spa. My kids didnt want to leave the kids pool that has a waterslide! I didnt want to leave the poolbar. Lol!

Most nail salons in dubai work their staff very hard with little pay. From what I have heard they also change your contract once you arrive in Dubai and are at their mercy. Dont know if this happens at Nstyle but it happens often enough to raise red flags for nail salon jobs. Perhaps make appointment at a salon and gossip with the nail technician. That way you will get the real truth.

Jumeira/Umm Suqeim has always been the pervert hotspot in Dubai. It always happens there. When I lived there I had men in cars follow me around countless times. Scary indeed. Hope she is okay.

At least you have a normal hair colour ;) I once had green hair! Go to Nazih Trading shop in Sheikh Zayed road (close to Crowne Plaza hotel). They would have all the products needed to correct your hair colour. They have a website too if you want to check the products first. http://www.nazih.com/

I think 6k for a part time flexible job is very decent. I know of plenty mums at my DS's school who are housewives and highly educated too with master degrees etc. A part time flexible job is something they would love to do just to keep the brain active. Its not always about the money. The sacrifices we make for our children....

Best of luck. Also had a recent cancer diagnosis in our family (cervical) and know about all the prodding and poking. Its just terrible. [b'>MIL went the holistic route (vitamin cocktail iv drips daily for a month and acupunture regularly) instead of doing chemo [/b'>and her cancer seems to be gone now. I will send a prayer for your sister. You all must be mentally and emotionally exhausted. Steve Jobs also went with the 'natural way' and used supplements etc. and didn't go for chemo. It is a dangerous road to take. As a cancer survivor myself, I would not recommend it. You can use the supplements etc. to ease the side effects of chemo (although my one oncologist was totally against it), but it is not a good idea to not do the chemo if that is what the oncologist recommends. My oncologist gave me the option for the chemo as it was not strictly necessary, but it was an 'insurance policy' and I decided to fight the cancer with everything available to be on the safe side. I am not sorry for doing it this way. At least I know if the cancer comes back it was not because I was not doing everything in my power to get rid of it. The chemo was not easy, but it also was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Rather safe than sorry. Alismum, I am sorry to hear about your sister. I will be thinking about her. edited by Lettie on 27/10/2013 I understand your concern however MIL chose this path for recovery and we support her journey. She knows of the risks involved. Even her oncologist is amazed at her recovery. Also keep in mind Steve Jobs does not represent every person who died because of holistic therapy. Many people have done the holistic route and are still alive and well years later. It varies from person to person, just like the results with chemo....

I wish it was only dogs!. I see (lazy) maids with toddlers strapped in their strollers in JBR just sitting around either on the phone or having a chat together. ALL TODDLERS STRAPPED in the stroller, so they cannot run around and those lazy maids dont have to move their bottoms to chase after them. Defeats the purpose of taking them out, really. I have also witnessed maids allowing children to pee in the same sand pit where the kids are playing, because they are too lazy to take them to the toilets 50 meters away (also in JBR). Unfortunately maids, if left to their own devices dont do their job properly. Those lazy maids are supposed to clean your house not raise your children.

I also visited and found it quite overpriced to what they offer and that the kids are forced to wear uniforms too that has to be purchased as well. Dont know why such small children have to wear uniform really. The location is good though.

If you want direct then Cebu is the cheapest. If you do one or two stopovers with other airlines it can work out cheaper but take a lot longer to reach the destination.

From the KHDA website: If you are transferring within Dubai, you will need a transfer certificate. If you are leaving Dubai, you may need a ‘student leaving certificate’ to prove the years of study in school in Dubai. Rather take a stroller/pram for walking around and doing stuff. Moses baskets are very uncomfortable and unpractical to travel around with. Put some nice soft blankets in the it and put a blanket over the top of the pram to prevent the sun from getting in when the little one is sleeping. The rocking motion of the pram/stroller while walking makes them drowsy too. Good luck.
