Is she a friend? if not then no. I do not understand people who add people they barely know. I wouldn't want someone who isn't a friend or someone I barely know looking at my info Me too. I only add people I really know. Not even acquaintances. I have friends with 5342+ FB friends and they probably only know 25 of those people! Do you really want to share your thoughts and photos with nosy strangers?

I'm happy with what I have :D Same here. I have two little boys who are best friends. I have never desired to have a girl. In fact if I wanted to have another child I would really hope for another boy! :)

Great to hear people are doing so well after leaving the Middle East. We were also discussing this topic a few nights ago. We did our finances and realised that with all the increases (schooling,food etc) and living expenses that we are not saving money anymore, so the real purpose of why we came here is not even valid anymore. DH has also started applying for jobs back home. Scary but exciting....:)

Non profit British schools have only native English speaking teachers and staff and must be UK educated and qualified.(well at least the one where my kids are at). Profit making schools have a mixture of both. My kids used to be in an american school and I think only one teacher was actually really an American. Lol!

I find it strange that your doctor did a belly scan at 8 weeks. No proper doctor would do a belly scan at 8 weeks as you will never see anything. It always has to be an internal one at 8 weeks. Perhaps use this time to look for a better doctor? You dont want to go through your whole pregnancy with a doctor who is clueless and even worse to deliver your baby too.

I guess we have to agree to disagree. I have also been pregnant here during Ramadan and never thought to eat or drink in public. Maybe that is just me but I have always thought that pregnant women are not allowed to eat or drink in public during Ramadan. Most likely, anyone could get away with eating and drinking in public, even a mutawa. It is only if someone reports you that it becomes an issue. I think you need to check the law before you state categorically that it is not allowed. Your personal beliefs are not the law. Pregnant people and children CAN eat and drink discreetly. I have seen it many times and no one is bothered by it. In Singapore and Malaysia they have large muslim communities that continue to fast even though people all around them are eating and drinking and they are not complaining.

13 years of living here and I always get my mail and packages delivered. Actually collected 2 this morning from Empost. Strange how some people never get their stuff. Perhaps the problem is from the other countries?

Why are you annoyed that the teachers were having drinks after school? Not denying them, of course, it's the fact that I tried to reach the school literally within 5 minutes of DD walking out of the gate - and absolutely no one answered the phone from there and constantly trying one hour later. That's Admin, not teaching staff. All teachers deserve a drink! Its such a hard job and I applaud all of them for what they do every day. Its the admin and management you have issues with. Teachers have no say or knowledge about the fees and admin type stuff.

In a regular office job if you did that to your employer you would be packing up your desk and joining the unemployment line. Now I understand why some companies in Dubai demand to see a death certificate if an employee want to take leave because of a 'death'. Too many liars and risk takers.

I am looking after my little child at the moment and this question is often in my mind. What is your 'security' as a SAHM? Do you have a proper retirement plan? Would appreciate some feedback! Thank you! I have a retirement plan in my home country as well as unit trusts that are growing each year. I still dont think it is enough though as the rising costs of food etc. is very worrying. At least I own property so will still have a roof over my head even if I am hungry. Lol!

I don't understand why Zara is so popular - the clothes are totally and utterly shapeless. The only item I got from there I had to get take in 4 inches at the waist. The cuts are lazy because it's cheaper that way Actually the stores with the most annoying sales assistants has to be Sephora - with Boots at a close second. I cannot stand being followed around and suggested things again and again that I dont want/need I think Paris Gallery can beat Sephora any day for annoying shop assistants. Lol!

Go to RERA personally and explain your circumstances. Follow their instructions step by step and if your landlord still doesnt fix anything I'm sure you will be covered as you did it all according to RERA instructions. They know all the rules and what to do.

Our DS is almost 8 months old now and we have just begun to look at the schooling situation. We keep reading the horror stories and injustice of the current allocation process and to be perfectly frank have not a clue where to start. DS was born in August so will literally just be 3 when it comes to start in a September which we're not really thrilled about as much earlier than UK. Where did you start? Where should we be aiming for? We don't receive any allowance from either of our employee's so we will be funding this ourselves and currently live in the Marina. Any advice or past experiences will be very welcome. :) Living in Marina. Jebel Ali Primary School would be your best option. They only start from FS2 though so your little one can spend an extra year in nursery.

Never seen them in Dubai. I used their products when my boys were babies. Family from Canada would bring it for me in bulk. Lol! To this day when I see Burts Bees it makes me smile. Perhaps buy them when you go on holiday. Its easy to get it in Asia or in North America.

Tim Hortons inside Deira City Centre is just the exit of the metro station and usually lots of chairs available as its large. The Tim Hortons near the financial centre can be very busy and no chairs available as its quite small inside.

Does anyone know which places sell Seafolly swimwear? There used to be a Seafolly shop/ a shop that sold Seafolly near M&S in Dubai Mall but it's gone. Thanks You will find a better range online and certainly the prices will be more affordable. I cringe everytime I see the prices of swimwear in Dubai. To think there are some women that thinks that its normal to pay dhs500 for a skimpy bikini. Even on the Victoria Secret website their swimwear is more affordable with shipping costs included.

Im also an ex-salon inker. Loved them but their prices are getting ridiculous. I have found a new salon that is just as good and I think the highlights are slightly better to be honest. I only pay dhs470 for fullhead highlights and blowdry. Only thing that SI does better now is their coffee service. Lol!

Australia will be a nightmare - the documentation required, massive fees, checking and rechecking will take forever and then they will say no. I am a 7th generation born Australian married to a Pakistani national and my DD was born in Pakistan 8 years ago - still arguing with them about her passport. They are never satisfied with the documents I submit. They will not even grant her a visit visa. She has never met some of relatives living there!!!!! I am ashamed to say that Australia is an impossible country to deal with when dealing with government departments - that's when they will even deem to talk to you. As for my husband???? A Pakistani from the NWF!!!! Absolutely NEVER!!!! However, sneak in as a boat person and they will welcome you with cash and open arms!!! Stupid, eh??? I cannot understand them! But certainly do understand why Australians are getting sick and tired of all the supposed refugees arriving and being given handouts - so many of them are not refugees!!! Brilliant. Spot on. Bleeding hearts Australian Labour government. Bring back the Pacific Solution, Australia already has enough hungry mouths to feed and the middle class man is getting less middle and more lower. Tough times. Interesting. Didnt know all this was going on in Australia. I have family there (2nd generation Aussies already) and they are struggling to make ends meet. They are fruit farmers in queensland.

I bought 3 long sleeve,2 short sleeve and 2 summer dresses on sale at Ebay for a grand total of $55! They are lovely and good quality too. Where in Dubai can you even get one dress for that price? A skirt here costs close to dhs300. Argh! Sorry just fedup of being ripped off. Can you use a UAE C/C for Ebay and will they deliver here? Thank you You can pay with uae credit card or with paypal. Paypal is the safer option. Lots of shops deliver worldwide.You just have to check when you select an item next to it the shipper will state where to they deliver. They deliver to your postal box/villa/apartment here in Dubai however I usually opt for postal box as its a lot of times free. Free shipping usually also takes a bit longer but I dont mind.

Quite a few schools in dubai has a no refund policy. Read the small print. Especially American schools do not do refunds...
