I think those etisalat employees are overworked since their working hours became longer. No wonder they are losing it and starting to rant. Working with the public is extremely exhausting. Hope you got your stuff sorted out now.

Most underwear shops sell slips that you wear underneath your dress to prevent see through. I always wear nude coloured underwear if the skirt is a bit sheer however I prefer jersey cotton skirts that arent see through at all.

KidsKutz only charges dhs35 per cut. They have salons at all Funcities (like Mercato,Reef mall,Deira City centre etc.) and are good. You dont want your childs first haircut to be a dodgy voucher special.

Villas sinking aside, the only reason why I won't buy a villa on The Palm is because I don't have enough money. Would so love a beach house! I would love a beach house too and I'm a good scuba diver...I will be ready for when the villas are underwater. Lol!

I have had facials since I was 16 to control my break outs around that time of the month, after going to a couple of spas here I now go to Vanilla,they have a fantastic deep cleanse (90 mins)with great products (Pevonia Botanica) and they remove all the white and black heads, if I dont get mine removed they get infected- sounds all kinds of wrong I know- I wish I had flawless skin- but never have! :( Where is vanilla?

A taxi driver was pushing me for my phone number even in my first week of arrival in Dubai 13 years ago. They have been doing this for ages. I now just give my destination and play with my cellphone to look busy and avoid chitchat. They sure are very nosey and the moment you are nice and talkative to them they think you are 'interested' in them.

Theres a huge bin at the entrance of the IKEA car park dedicated to newspapers or any type of paper for recycling. You can literally just drive up with your car to the entrance and unload it into the bin that is in the entrance.

Keep the police out of this as it can get very messy very fast. Get school bus transport. Get the divorce. Perhaps that is what he needs to acknowledge he drinks to much and needs help. Im sure there are other reasons too why they are divorcing. Only an alcoholic can help themselves get better. No one else.

Didnt know you can homeschool with the IB curriculum.Even on the IB page they say you cant homeschool. "[i'>Can I use the curriculum from an IB programme to h[/i'>[i'>om[/i'>[i'>e school my child? No. The IB permits only students enrolled in and attending IB World Schools to participate in an IB programme. Lol! Nothing at all. Everything is better there,more variety,cheaper prices etc. You will go crazy in the malls. Check out wallmart. Its like a warehouse type shop with everything under the sun there and their kids clothing can be really cute. You will find and see things (and people) you have never seen before. Enjoy! :)

My Dh and I are moving to Essex in 4 weeks I've never been there. I've started to watch TOWIE for inspiration I have now shortened my dresses by 4 / 6 inches I've been practising the accent and I've booked myself in for an orange tan just before we leave MissMoe - can I highly suggest the following (and take it from one who absolutely knows - from a viewing stance):- a) buy the cheapest orange tan you can - none of the designer stuff as it works (otherwise the locals will realise you are not from the area); B) purchase ill fitting high heels (the higher the better) again, from the cheapest shop - usually a supermarket; c) purchase elocution lessons (as in 'alright luv', 'innit', 'wotever' 'you dissing me?') then you will comfortably fit in; D) and as you already metioned, skirts shortened to only approximately 6 inches in depth. Good luck (you will need it)!!!! V LOL!!! I can already imagine the 'look'. ;)

This happened to me too six years ago! I still remember it vividly as I was so freaked out by it. I couldnt even speak as well. My husband was walking around the room and I was just lying there not able to move or speak. A truly terrifying feeling. It felt as if someone was pushing me down on my chest too (I was sleeping on my back). I hope it never happens again as its a horrible feeling.

So sorry to have got your hopes up, my daughter has just told me they had to give all their IB text books back to the school after each exam finished. I can't believe it, that's never happened to me with a private school before. My daughter's French school refused to let us even give the books back to the school as they wanted each cohort to buy them new from the school every year! My daughter has just finished Year 13 in the IB system, she did her year 11 (last year of MYP) at a different school, where I see their Maths text book was not IB specific - it was Additional Maths for the Singapore-Cambridge GCE O level. I'm putting this up here in case someone has more useful text books on offer for you. Again, I'm so sorry to have got your hopes up like this. Good luck. Simpleasabc,since your daughter has finished IB diploma now,would you say it is a demanding and rigorous curriculum as I have read in some articles online?

Since he doesn't want you to move into your property in UK or return to Dubai to be with him and he also stopped communicating with you I would think he has probably moved on.It seems as if he is trying to cut all ties with you.Since he threatened you when you said you want to come to Dubai it makes me think he might already have another person in his life too. He is probably not open with you as you are suffering with depression and he doesn't know how to let you know. Perhaps ask him to write you an email to explain his side and what he wants for the future as you dont want to keep guessing about the state of your relationship?

Thank you all for your replies. I have emailed DESC tonight to see if they are open for admissions for sixth form. I think DESS might be too far from us but I'm not ruling anything out at the moment. I tried Dubai college but they are closed. Unfortunately my husbands company only do personal debentures, they have no corporate debentures. PlainJane thank you for your reply, you mentioned, English College, & Horizon, aren't they on Sheikh Zayed Road, i was told to avoid this area as the traffic is manic. Is this correct? Would it be doable from The Villa? What do you do if you can't get a place for your children? Does this happen? Are the schools very strict on the entry requirement for IB, I don't want to push my DD to far and stress her out about this, she is an a*-b in the sciences and maths, but has always struggled with English subjects, predicted c. Thank you all again for your advice. It seems you have your heart set on living at The villa. Keep in mind that even compounds in Dubai have waitlists and you might not even get a villa there. June/July is the time that most people renew their contracts and villas get snapped up. First get your children a place in a school and then decide where to live. In Dubai you have to drive a lot and you will get stuck in traffic quite often. Its just a way of life here. Since your daughter is in year 12 perhaps boarding school in your home country would be the best option for now?

If you are choosing those two purely for financial reasons then I understand however academically these two are very poor schools. There are schools that give better academic performance (than those two) and also has low(ish) fees.

Your husband will kill himself with exhaustion if he is going to be flying in and out of Dubai constantly. Its hard enough for people who work in Abu Dhabi that is an hour drive away to do the commuting to Dubai. The working hours in the middle east are long and Im pretty sure his employer would want his employee living in the same country where his job is. Add to that the strain of finding a school place in Dubai with long waiting lists. Lots of expats live and work happily in Kuwait.

I'm not great at thinking of snappy comebacks on the spot and find it hard to be rude but it's time to answer these people back! My dh thinks on his feet and always manages a great comeback. He says these rude people say things because they are allowed o get away with them. . Which is why they tend to target western and some Asian expats, they rarely "offer" such comments to those more likely to kick up a fuss True. They would never even try such a thing with an Arabic woman because they know they will get it back 100 times worse if not fired.

Been to Park Hyatt with my two little ones and they loved it! The kids club is really good and the girls who work there are very attentive and lovely. My youngest loved the baby pool that was shaded too. The outside play area of the kids club is also shaded. We all had a lovely weekend and would recommend Park Hyatt to anyone looking for a getaway. :) Le Meridien is also very nice but not as fabulous as Park Hyatt. p.s. their Mojito's are verrry nice and large. ;) <em>edited by Asti on 12/05/2013</em>
