Dubai British School is in that area. A lot of nurseries also offer FS1 if that school doesnt have space left.

and sick of trying to lose weight. That tuna salad I had for lunch did not even fill a corner of my stomach. Drink water or low calorie soups. It helps make you feel fuller. Buy ricecrackers to snack on. They have almost no calories. Dieting sucks. I was supposed to start last week but have been delaying it due to flu....

I just signed up my DS for nursery two days a week. I think it will take me longer to adapt than him! Lol! I'm also nervous but also strangely excited to have a few hours of child free freedom (which I havent had for 5 years).

Have a look at Safestway in Sheikh Zayed Road. They have loads of American products on their shelves. Lots of products you wont find anywhere else. Or make it yourself. Speculoos Cookie Butter Recipe Ingredients: 3/4 sleeve Biscoff cookies (about 24 cookies) 1 Tablespoon sugar 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/4 cup) coconut oil a pinch of salt 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 2 teaspoons canola oil 1 Tablespoon skim milk Directions: Grind the cookies into a fine meal using a food processor. Melt the coconut fat and let cool down until luke warm. Add coconut oil to the cookie meal and process until combined. Then add sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, salt, canola oil and milk. Process until combined, scraping the sides as needed. This could take up to 5 minutes, but stop whenever you reach your desired consistency. Play around with the oil or milk amounts if you still want it creamier. This spread will harden in the fridge and it is best to let it stand 30 min at room temperature when serving. edited by Asti on 05/03/2013

Rashid Paediatric Therapy Centre had a Selective mutism specialist from New York come and do a seminar there. I'm sure they would be able to guide you to the right person in Dubai to help you.

Why do you think it was racism? Perhaps it was because he is a man and your a woman? He is a boss and you are a employee? Might not have been a fair case but dont play the 'racism' card immediately. ...and by pointing out that he is white make you racist too. edited by Asti on 27/02/2013

Here is the situation... Three new students to Dubai are seeking immediate placement. Multiple schools contacted with no space. One School with space insists on First Term fees paid in FULL (even though the School is over half-way finished with second term). Is this standard Dubai School practice? What curriculum and what grades do you need?

Whats next is a laser procedure by a company in South American that can change brown eyes to blue or green. Only risk is blindness! People still go ahead and do it and the results I must admit are really nice. I saw it on a talk show quite a while ago. http://www.stromamedical.com/

Lesson learned the hard way I guess. Will have to look for destinations that allow passports to be valid during stay there only. I think the US is like that but the flights there is probably already full. Will have to check.

A lot of people take loans to have fancy cars and even help pay their rent. Keeping up appearances is more important to some than having a healthy debt free bank account. Then there are the people who really do get very good housing allowances. edited by Asti on 26/02/2013

Surprisingly enough there are 39 B&B's in Dubai according to Tripadvisor. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g295424-c2-Dubai_Emirate_of_Dubai-Hotels.html However on closer inspection they are all low budget hotels except one villa so I'm guessing you need to be an owner of a property to start a B&B.

Its on Al Jazeera Sport channel for which you have to pay for a separate subscription of dhs480 per year. The card fits in the new OSN boxes that have two cards slots..Its not on the OSN package itself. Maybe just give directions to a hotel pub for your guests ;)

Moms - I need an advise. My baby is 16 months old and for the past 2 months she refuses to sit in a car seat, push chair or high chair... She screams, cries hysterically... I am really concerned on what to do in this situation. Can someone advise on steps to be taken to ensure she accepts these things? My firstborn was like that. Its a phase some of them go through. Mine lasted 6 months!! I tried to keep car trips to a minimum or when he is sleeping as its easier to strap him in then. Thats the only thing that worked for us. Then we had a dvd player installed in for him to watch cartoon to distract and that worked great. Never had a problem since. Thats what worked for us.

Lol! Just came from the pharmacy where a woman was complaining to the pharmacist about her hair loss and showing her all her bald spots. Guess its a lot more common here. The pharmacist told her to use organic shampoos as the others are full of toxins and chemicals.

Thanks ladies. I am now looking into Nusa Dua hotels as it seems Ubud is an hour by car to Kuta/Seminyak where all the shops are. Dont want to completely avoid Kuta ;) as there are bargains to be had. Will defnitely go and have a look at Ubud too when we are there. I almost booked Hard Rock hotel in Kuta as their current rates are great and its very child friendly but think I can get a better deal in Nusa Dua.

Whats wrong with braces in your 30's? You can get clear or ceramic coloured braces if you are very self conscious or even invisalign. Keep in mind invisalign takes a lot longer to straighten your teeth than regular braces. Nobody is bothered with things like braces anymore. The results are so worth it.

The discount centres in Deira are full of them. Small one starts at dhs10. Otherwise you can buy an overpriced one at the Burj Khalifa souvenir shop in Dubai mall.

We subscribed for it recently. Personally I think the assessment are good as they would be able to identify your kids' weak areas. Depending on your kids' age, you will have to monitor and encourage them to do it. DD is only 6. She doesn't really like doing the exercise as they are repetitive and she gets bored after question 5 and lost concentration on the next 5 questions. She told me that she prefers to learn using books instead. Still in the initial stage though. Maybe she will use more in the summer. Hmmm... thats what I read in some reviews too. Some kids just prefer working with workbooks than on a computer which is totally understandable. I have a preference for workbooks too. Thanks for the review.

I usually just walk around outside that building and look at the other shops as the blue building has a higher price hike I have found.Just walk past the blue building and go to the gold souq itself. The blue building is just the start of it. edited by Asti on 17/02/2013

By end of March most people know where their children have been accepted or not. Schools usually tell you when they will contact you after assessment.
