He can easily catch up over the summer holidays if he is accepted into the BC school. Its just basic addition and not everyone 'gets' it in foundation anyways.

Thanks ladies. We decided to go to RAK for a weekend and go to Iceland waterpark as well. :) Next time we will do an Abu Dhabi weekend when they are a bit older and the rides at Yas waterpark isn't as scary to them.

Change some of your money to baht and change some to dollar. You can easily exchange the dollar later on in thailand if needed. Loads of exchange places everywhere.

I have had all four removed in one go. For that you defnitely need to go to a hospital. It is a day procedure under general anesthesia. They give you loads of pain medication afterwards and it heals quite fast (well I think so as I didnt feel a thing due to the loads of pain medication,lol!).

Has he gone to counselling for his depression? Is he on the correct amount of medication? He might be bipolar or something and not on the correct medication. People can become totally different when their dosage/medication is incorrect. When he is in a nice mood again take him to a very experienced doctor to check him out. Poor thing,you must be petrified. Hope it all works out better.

She left Dubai 3 days back. All parties are from SA Get an aggressive divorce lawyer that will get her the financial stability she needs when they divorce. There is no rectifying this type of relationship. She needs to walk away and start over. Thats the advice I would give.

I personally quite like DESC. They are good in academics and sport. Does your friend work for a company that has debenture? Then it would be much easier for her child to get into a top secondary school. Best of luck with the school hunt. :)

I placed my DS in swim class at one year old. There were 3+ month babies with him in the pool and they were so sleepy and cranky but their mothers persisted regardless. I doubt such a small baby would want to go to a swim class. They really enjoy and start grasping it at one year old. Earlier is a waste of money. Just go to a pool and splash about with your baby when they are that young,that is good enough.

Childhood obesity is also definitely a problem here. So many kids waddling instead of walking proper as they are too fat. In some Asian/Arab cultures its consider 'cute' if your kid is fat especially when they are babies/toddlers.

Now it's a very special birthday for my hubby this year and I'm trying to organize a party for him but the price places are charging is astronomical. So I need some help. I am looking to do private party so not a brunch or restaurant. I need a place with a private room where the food and drink package is reasonable. Also a place that will take smaller parties as I want only an intimate party. So any suggestions? Thank you in advance Not a brunch or a restaurant??? And not at home.... For adults the only options are restaurant or house. Otherwise a BBQ at the park. Party rooms are only for kids.

Go speak to her first. There is a lot of hearsay and nothing directly heard by you. Just set up a meeting and voice your concerns. If its true,then this lady needs to be reported to the principal. I had a teacher who would say demeaning things to me when I was in grade 5 and to this day those words hurt. Some people just are in the wrong profession.

I have friends in AR who place their child at Building Blocks Nursery in Motorcity and they are very happy with it. Also know two of the teachers personally and they are very nice and love kids.

Children are sponges, you will see it! My DD is not (was not) academically strong. I realized this when at 5 she couldn't tell me numbers upto 10 or any letters! I nearly died as I thought she was on par but was just caught off guard with it as her school report was all positive. That week I worked with her everyday - she wasn't learning anything! Then, the ball dropped, within one month she could read. They are very intelligent, it may be hard week one, you may think you'll never catch him up, but one on one for one month is equivalent to three months in class (a principal told me this), so give him a week or so, then it'll all begin to come together! Good luck! I am currently in the same dilemma with my child. This gives me hope. Thanks for sharing.

Compulsory schooling starts when they are 4 years old. Most schools offer school from the age of 3 (reception/foundation/kindergarten) and most people place their children into the school at 3 as they are scared of not getting a place and being waitlisted when the child is old enough for proper school.

That's my issue with Shwayfat - to teach you simply require a bachelor degree in any field. Deira Private School has South African teachers, they are cheaper. Cambridge International, Winchester School, both UK, both inexpensive, but not western teachers, and the students are not mostly western, they are a mix of nationalities, mainly Asian. In Qusais there is the Philidelphia School, I think their site says their teachers are UK (Irish, I think?). Philadelphia is a US curriculum school. They do not have Irish teachers or UK teachers. I have an acquiantance with kids there and all the kids are asian+arab. Also the teachers are not western and the school barely got acceptable rating by KHDA. He seems happy with the school though as he says its cheap. Lol!

Tia x Ski Dubai always has good snow ;) Better do your skiing holiday another time then. April is a lovely month for holidays. Not too hot or cold anywhere in the world.

Nothing wrong with Chouiefat, so far as I can see..My girls are there since Dec-Jan. School is very good academic reputation and teachers are all Western (which to me is important, so that they speak 'proper' English). Also a bonus for me is that they have French as an extra langauge. It is indeed a very structured school, but that is ok for me.. Hi there everyone. I was wondering if anyone knows of an affordable school that has western teachers as well as western kids eg from aus ,south Africa etc.... I am struggling to find a decent International school for anything less than 20 000 uae and over..I am willing to travel into Sharjah if I have to. Help will be greatly appreciated You wont find a western school for that price tag. They all start at 32000.

Rice cooker/steamer is the same thing. I use Thai basmati rice in my rice cooker. 1 cup rice+1cup and half water and it comes out fluffy and nice when done.

I highly doubt cranial therapy will help with ear infections as the alignment of the skull doesn't affect the location of the eustacian tubes of the ears. Perhaps try to take your child for an allergy test to see if there are triggers (aside from the colds) that are giving him ear infections. My ENT sent me for allergy tests as I had ear infections since childhood and now I try to avoid certain foods that trigger nasal dripping/sinus infections leading to ear infections.
