Sorry Daza, I always like your posts but I disagree. It can be done and I have friends that did it. No warning, nothing. The problem with women is that they always think it will get better. It rarely does. :-( edited by derien on 23/10/2012 Well said.

It worked for my DH and MIL. DH had insomnia issues and it was quickly cleared with acupuncture and some chinese herbs. MIL had arthritus in her hand that was painful and the acupuncture also helped that. I have always been too scared to go but went with my DH last week when he had a session and it looked quite relaxing. Doctor said he can help me with my chronic ear infections.

Hey, OP. What a lousy thing to say to a Muslim. She doesn't seem to understand her own religion. Here's a hadith prophet Mohammed said that talks about this very thing amongst Muslims: "All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over a black nor a black has any superiority over a white - except by [b'>piety and good action[/b'>." So I would either educate her or ignore her. As for this strange inconsistency reflect on this hadith: The Messenger of Allah was seated in a gathering with the Sahabah when he looked towards the entrance and said, “A man of Paradise is coming.” At that instance someone who seemed to be very ordinary entered the mosque where they were seated. A Sahabi was curious as to why the Prophet said this, so he followed the man to his house. This Sahabi told the man that he was a traveler and stayed as a guest. For three days the Sahabi saw nothing unusual, so he finally told the man what the Prophet had said and asked him what was so special. The man thought for a long time and said, [b'>“There might be one thing — before going to sleep every night I forgive everyone and sleep with a clean heart."[/b'> xx Nice. :)

Get a Facebook page and pay a small fee for promotion. Have a competition on the FB page, let people tag their names to a picture and by the end of the competition the person wins a product/prize. If their names are tagged to a pic on your FB page it will show on their FB pages and to their hundreds of friends. Place ads wherever you can.

You might get some rain during the night and a rainshower now and then in the afternoon but I wouldnt be too worried. Weather is still great (although very humid) and the place is still gorgeous. Best thing is it isnt as full of tourists so you get much better deals. We went for two weeks and I can only recall one rainshower in the evening and an afternoon one.

Dr. Marc Muller BR Medical Suites Building No. 64 971-4-439 2305 He is super expensive. I went for a consultation to him and it lasted 10 minutes. I paid dhs1200 for those ten minutes!!! Never again.

You dont need a trade license for craft markets. You only pay for your registration and your space. It doesnt fall under the same category as things that are sold in shops everyday.

Oud Metha would be perfect for you. Lots of different nationalities live there and the apartments are quite large there too. Rashid Hospital is in that neighborhood too,so close to work as well and the metro also stops there if you want to go to malls on the weekend or DH wants to go out exploring whilst your working. There are two malls in that area too called Lamcy plaza and Wafi. Both nice. Difficult to get an apartment there though as they get snapped up quite quickly. Lol! Best of luck! :)

She is defnitely not 'entitled' to a month extra in Dubai when her contract has finished. Thats illegal. You should get her on a flight before her final date. Maybe inform her the day before she is to depart so that she doesnt also do a runner on you since she already has connections.

If your going to souq naif you have to go early in the morning or with a taxi. Getting parking is almost impossible and it gets very congested. Souq naif defnitely has the biggest range and the best prices of material in Dubai. Loads of little shops around naif area. It's much easier now with the Green Line Metro:) Get off at Baniyas Square and from there it's a 5 minute walk. Hehe...ashamed to say that I have never been on the metro.

Why dont you preserve the dress for when you have children? Your daughter can wear your pronovias dress again. If you dont have a daughter then you can put an ad up at classifieds with a picture on EW and dubizzle or contact The Wedding Shop in Jumeira if they want to buy it off from you.

Explorers have bad resell value where as Landrovers have excellent resell value. Landrovers airconditioning cope better with Dubai heat than Explorers. This comes from personal experience. However both are very comfortable cars but if you someday have to sell the car then you need to go with the landrover. If your planning on driving the car until it falls apart then get the explorer.

If you really really still want a perm then go for a digital perm. Korean ladies (who are known for stick straight hair) use this to get curls and waves in their hair. You can choose how intense you want your curls or waves. Best to take a picture along. There is a Korean Salon near Lamcy Plaza that is known for doing this well. http://koreansalondubai.com/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Huix0VheQcY edited by Asti on 19/10/2012

Well, if Lana could survive the Corniche area in AD (hello, Salaam street!) then I think she could deal with construction or traffic in any part of Dubai. After living in Chicago, Dallas, and Los Angeles, I have yet to see a real traffic jam here! It's nothing! I agree. The traffic jams in Los Angeles are truly horrifying.

Please get a second opinion on any work quoted at any clinic. If I hadn't gone for a second opinion I would have had 1 unneeded root canal and 5 fillings. As it turned out I felt uncomfortable, went to a different clinic, where they said I only needed 1 filling repaired and a good clean. 5 years later and still no new fillings. I'm not the only one out of my group of friends who went through this. Is this specifically with Dr Madhu or are you referring to dentists in general? He didnt strike me as a dentist who would make unnecessary recommendations. I had x-rays as evidence of my need for fillings and I actually chose Dr Madhu because of his reputation as the "gentle dentist". I felt nothing - not even the injection - during the 6 fillings, and I didnt hear the drilling because of the background music. edited by hilsbils on 18/10/2012 I think she meant in general here in Dubai.

I got freaked out and had it checked out again at another clinic and the doctor said there is nothing wrong with my tooth. Its just sensitive due to having a filling done a few months ago and then he gave me desensitizing gel to put on the tooth. Never had a problem since. Cant believe some dentists here....Anything for an extra buck.

My DS went to a preK at a big school and thrived a lot better than his friends who continued it at nursery. Its as if the nursery staff 'dumb down' their education where as the school pushed children to explore and take chances. He learned so much and his personality really blossomed. This was my experience. Someone else might have different experience but there were children in my DS's class that were August babies too and they did just as well.

As fas as opened kitchen is concerned my neighbour didnt like it ethier so she had plaster boards ( or whatever cheap fake walls are made of) put in and it closed up,problem solved. Smart neighbour. Never thought of that. Anyways we live in Garhoud now,so maybe we will look at Motor city once landlord raises rent again.

You will be lucky to find any! Lol! Otherwise perhaps just hire a chinese tutor to come and teach your children a few hours each week. Put up a sign there at International city and at Dragonmart (where most Chinese expats live).
