Hi! My DD went to the Crystal Valley Nursery in the Arabian Center in Mizhar. I was very happy with it and they serve breakfast and lunch so I found that very convenient. If I were to put my other child in nursery, he'd definitely go to that one. No offense but I went to Arabian center twice and each time they had kids running around and teachers who couldnt care less. Even my DH who usually doesnt pay attention to those kinds of things commented on how unruly and undisciplined that nursery is.

I had a list of their items on the US website printed with prices and went to their branch in Mirdif and almost fainted. It was beyond inflated,it was pure greed! Cant bother buying anything here and the sales in the US is much better than the few dirhams they knock off here. Im very disappointed but Im sure there are people in Dubai who wouldnt think twice paying those prices.

I think your DH should address this to his sibling and grandparents and not you. If you address it,it might turn into something big. If he brings it up then its just a topic that needs to be discussed. He just needs to find the correct wording as to not offend anyone.

Dont expect any service a week before and a week after eid. Also if your expecting a package,add two extra weeks onto the delivery time as everything is superslow during ramadan. This is from experience in these frustrations myself. Good luck!

I think Dubai has an excellent selection. Annoying when something you like is out of stock but considering we live in the desert our choices are really good. It will never be like your home country but if you want things to be exactly like your home country what is the purpose of moving out?

They update regularly. Your visa processing time depends on your nationality. Some get theirs within 24hrs and some can take a few months.

My boys mouths were also filled up with huge blisters but my DH only got it on feet and hands. It really is a horrendous virus. My DH got it while we were on holiday too so we were stuck in the hotel for a week.

Declavir lotion on the rash spots was given by the doctor. Helps with itching and drying out blisters. Sooner you put it on the spots the better.

My DH and all my kids had it. Theres no escaping it once its in your household. For some reason I never got it. Doctor says some people just arent affected by the virus. He will need your help when the painful blisters come,body pain and terrible headaches. Stock up on painkillers. Hopefully your DH wont suffer too much. My DH ended up in ER because he became too dehydrated.

Sound like hand,foot,mouth disease. No cure for that as it a virus. Lots of liquid and rest. Takes a week to clear up. The spots become blisters...It very contagious too,so best not to fly.

Try the furniture shops in karama. For sure you will get something there. Or try Pinky Furniture. http://pinkyfurnitureuae.com/ Thanks - have only been here 3 weeks and haven't even heard of Karama. Just Googled it and looks interesting. Will try Pinky too. Thanks Karama is the area where most Indian expats live. You get really good and affordable restaurants,tailors,beauty salons etc. Its not fancy at all but you do get value for money there.

For decals there's actually a couple of stalls in Festival City which do them, they situated just outside Ikea. Dont bother with that kiosk. Very basic decals. Nothing special.

Personally I don't know why people go to these crumby places in the first place. The UAE needs to stop bringing in these franchises which are only increasing its rankings in the unhealthiest country/overweight country/laziest country stakes. How about bringing in some outlets which sell things that are actually good for people, instead of this garbage. edited by Chocs01 on 19/08/2012 Well said! I agree.

zengirl, wow! I never noticed that in Carrefour. Prob because my DH pays with a card, and to be honest, I don't usually look at the exact total. Spinney's in Oud Metha made a big production out of giving change--a guy chased me out of the store once with a 25 fils piece (I think that is what the little one is? lol) Carrefour is a big culprit in not giving back change. I never pay cash there anymore.

I decided just to take my HP to garhoud service centre and let them sort it out. The hard disk was faulty (one week after warranty expired!). Technician said it could be because it was dropped or the hard disk just was faulty on its own (made in china). No virus fortunately.

Favourite Things at Marina Mall. They give a certificate with a lock of hair afterwards too if its the first haircut. Make sure you book with the male hairdresser. The female is not so good. They charge dhs65 for the first haircut.

I have never heard of anyone tipping a nurse! I think thats disgusting that a nurse would accept a tip in the first place. Being a nurse is a special calling not some waitress job. Those nurses should be ashamed.

Do the A-levels! At school they are still structured but the moment you go to college your kind of on your own and no one pushing you to do something. Chances of success is better if he just does his A-levels and then go to a University of his choice. Thats just my opinion (from personal experiences...)

You sometimes get really nice dresses at Sauce (S*UCE). Its in Jumeira at The Village Mall. Theres a few other boutiques shops in that area too so might be worth a look. I think Sauce has a branch now at Dubai Mall too.
